Chapter 33 - Observing the Zombie Tide
Chapter 33 Observing the Zombie Tide
At this very moment, there was already some white light on the horizon.
Su Yan returned to his cell and began to think about his next move. He had more or less understood the layout of the prison now.
So, the only way for zombies to come in from the outside was through the back door. That place required a key.
However, in order to enter from the back door, the zombies had to pass by the firearms warehouse, which had a password lock. After opening the door with a password lock, the zombies had to walk another 20 meters in the corridor.
This entire operation was too time-consuming and laborious. It was not suitable for a surprise zombie tide attack.
Hence, Su Yan thought of a third place.
That was the sewer.
First of all, the sewers were highly concealed and not easy to find. Moreover, once the zombies suddenly emerged from the sewers, it would be a fatal blow to those who were unprepared.
Imagine if you woke up from your sleep and found a zombie coming out of the manhole cover in front of your house. You rubbed your eyes and were bitten to death by zombies when you were still in a daze. What kind of experience was that?
That would be the most terrifying experience.
He decided on the entrance of the zombie attack. The next step was how to attract the zombies.
The previous zombie tide had been attracted by the sound of a horn. However, he couldn’t do that this time, because the sound would definitely alert the enemy. Therefore, he could only use blood to attract them.
However, the premise of getting a zombie tide would be to attract a huge number of zombies with blood. It would be useless to attract one or two zombies.
As he thought of this, a series of vibrating sounds suddenly came from outside the prison.
Immediately after, a series of “He-He” sounds came from outside the high wall.
Based on the sounds alone, Su Yan could tell that they were made by the zombies. Furthermore, the vibrating sounds were clearly the sound of zombies running on the ground.
Presumably, from the continuous vibrating sounds, it could be seen that the zombie tide was passing by outside. And since there was a certain distance between the prison and the high wall, the sound would be reduced according to the distance.
Since the noises outside the high wall could be clearly heard from inside the cell, this meant that there were a lot of zombies outside at the moment.
Su Yan’s eyes lit up, and he passed through the wall, then he pressed the key (F7: Infinite climb].
(Infinite climb: No matter how high, how steep a wall or cliff is, you can climb it.]
[Time limit: 1 minute.]
After he pressed the key, a black shadow slid across the high wall. Su Yan was invisible as he stood on the high wall, looking at the scene outside.
At this very moment, the round moon was emitting a silver-gray light, shining on the land. On the other side of the mountain, the sun was rising slightly.
Outside the prison, hundreds of zombies were rolling on the street like a swarm of bees. They were like raging demons, running towards the moonlight!
At the front and the back of the group of zombies, there were zombies that were taller and more terrifying than the rest. One by one, they were leading the zombies in the right direction!
Su Yan’s lips curled up when he saw this. Everything was in the right place and time.
It was one o’clock in the morning, a time when all the survivors were asleep.
Was there a possibility that if there was a zombie tide every night at this time, he could use blood at the sewer entrance to lead the zombie tide into the prison?
Then, everything would fall into place.
Just then, the conversation of the prison guards could be heard from the observation deck next to the high wall.
A prison guard raised his gun and said to the other guard.
“I really don’t like to be on duty at night. Every time I’m on duty at night, there will be such a large number of zombies at this time. It’s really scary!”
The other prison guard chuckled and said, “You should be content. Last month, I was on the night shift every day and was scared awake by the sound of the zombie tide every night. You’re already considered good, only once a week!”
Su Yan’s lips curled. He turned around and returned to the prison.
As expected of the right time, place and people.
Since he had only been in the prison for a few days, he naturally didn’t know about the zombie tide every night. However, the conversation he had just heard made Su Yan certain of one thing.
That was, there would be a zombie tide tomorrow night and the prison would be turned upside down.
The next afternoon, the sun was already shining. The metal door to Su Yan’s cell opened, and a prison guard strode in with a bowl of rice in his hand. There was chicken and eggs in the bowl, as well as pork rib soup and a plate of fresh vegetables.
There were also two bowls of rice soup outside the door. This was for the priest and the single mother.
The prison guard looked at the plate of food with envy and then threw it on the ground.
“Hey, eat.”
Su Yan quietly leaned against the headboard and glanced at him. He didn’t say anything.
“Hey,” the prison guard said, pointing at him.
“Hey! Eat! The prison warden doted on you personally and had to trouble the kitchen staff to make this.”
“He even killed a chicken just for you. Think about how much he values you!”
“I haven’t had any meat here for three months, brother! I’m f*cking dying of hunger.”
Su Yan remained silent.
The prison guard was really angry.
On what basis could he, Su Yan, eat such good food? He had only brought back some food a few days ago, and he could enjoy such treatment?
He had worked so hard for the prison warden for the past few months, but in the end, he could only drink rice soup.
What right did he have to have the same meal as the prison warden?!
“I’m telling you! I’m giving you a chance. If you don’t eat it, I’ll eat it.”
Su Yan grunted.
In the next second, the jealous expression on the prison guard’s face suddenly disappeared and was replaced with joy. He then picked up the food and gobbled it up.
He had a mouthful of chicken leg, a mouthful of egg, and a big mouthful of rice. He was eating it with great relish.
He hadn’t even swallowed the food in his mouth when he looked at Su Yan with bright eyes and pointed at him.
“You’re really something. Such a good meal and you just said you wouldn’t eat it. You are really something, huh?”
“Right, next time..”
Suddenly, the prison guard’s words were stuck in his throat. Then he suddenly frothed at the mouth and started twitching. Instantly, his eyes turned white and his pupils contracted!
“This.. I..”
In just three seconds, the prison guard died in front of Su Yan. His twitching body stopped moving.
Su Yan raised his eyes and closed them after a
second.
The conversation between Su Yan and the prison guard was naturally heard by the middle-aged woman and the priest, but they didn’t say anything.
After a while, a prison guard came in and gave the other two bowls of rice soup to the priest and the single mother, then silently pulled the dead prison guard out.
Su Yan looked at all of this without many expressions on his face.
He knew that the prison warden was the one who had requested the meal and that Chen Yun was the one who had cooked.
So, who was the one who tried to poison him?
It couldn’t be Chen Yun. It was the prison warden.
The reason was simple.
Chen Yun knew that she couldn’t kill Su Yan, so she didn’t want to waste her energy and trap herself. From the beginning to the end, she only wanted to kill Wen Wan.
And the only person who still thought that he could cover the sky with one hand and kill Su Yan in the cradle was the prison warden. There were two possible outcomes to the prison warden’s actions.
If it was done well, he would be respected by the survivors, stabilize his position and force Wen Wan to tell him who had the serum. If it wasn’t done well, he would just push the blame on Chen Yun.
Su Yan’s eyes darkened and he left the prison through the wall.
