30 Mad Buying

Jiang Tian didn't terrify everyone earlier for no reason. With a smirk on his face, his eyes swept through the dark corners of the City and found that the shadows lurking inside the darkness retreated in fear.

Despite the fact that the City of Frost looked peaceful, Jiang Tian knew that the diversity of cultures present in such a small land would cause conflict that the Xia Clan forcefully suppressed under their iron rule. That was the reason why the people looked submissive when they realized that Jiang Tian came from the Xia Clan.

His display of violence earlier accomplishmed most of his goals.

First, intimidate those following him for his wealth and second, make those organizations hidden in the darkness that the Xia Clan still reigned supreme.

Scourding his way through the crowd, Jiang Tian rented an Inn and calculated the offerings that he received from the cultivators and commoners.

Overall, Jiang Tian acquired five hundred thirty-six Spirit Stones in mere minutes. If Jiang Tian could do it everyday, he would be swimming in money.

Placing the Spirit Stones back in the bed, Jiang Tian exited the Inn and went on to look for items that he required for his expedition.

The City of Frost's marketplace was astonished by the appearance of a prodigal young master from the Xia Clan that bought any items that he liked. Unfortunately, the young master only bought utilities and food supplies.

Still, his appearance caused a sensation due to the fact that he wasn't particularly picky about the quality of the items or food. As long as it was useful or it could fill one's stomach, he bought it in large amounts.

Later on at night, Jiang Tian plopped on his bed in exhaustion. He didn't expect that Spirit Stones would be so valuable among commoners that he could buy ten kilos of beef jerky for a single Spirit Stone.

After spending about three hundred Spirit Stones mostly on antidotes, ointments and medicines for injuries. Jiang Tian was left with about two hundred Spirit Stones. Enough to double the amount that he "borrowed" from Xia Bingyue.

Placing every utilities that he bought such as flexible robe that could stretch for a hundred meters without breaking and several needles that he could use as hidden weapons, Jiang Tian opened his System Interface and tapped on the Enhancement Icon.

[Please select target for Enhancement, keep in mind that a sacrifice is required for each Enhancement. The sacrifice is directly proportional to the desired Enhancement outcome.]

[Uncommon Tiered Flexible Ropes has been marked as target for Enhancement]

[Sacrifices Required: Ten items of the same tier.]

[The item will lose all further Enhancement Potential after a successful Enhancement. If Enhancement fails, all materials are lost and the item is rendered useless.]

[Do you want to continue? Y/N]

Jiang Tian smiled and tapped on the "Yes" button as a tangible hammer from the System appeared in the air. Grasping it, the Flexible Ropes became engulfed in flames and melted into a strange liquid that Jiang Tian hammered upon the System's instructions.

"Why the heck do I have to melt a rope and hammer it?" Jiang Tian mumbled in confusion. But since the System's intricacies was out of his league, he just shook his head and followed its instruction as he constantly hammered down.

The number of temperable impurities within the Flexible Ropes was less than the Soft Sword of Ice Cavern that Jiang Tian tempered before so his success was a breeze.

Within the next ten minutes, Jiang Tian completed his Enhancement and deposited the Flexible Ropes that now shone in a hazy and dream light back into his bedraggled pouch.

Afterwards, he enhanced his newly-bought clothes and armor so that he could protect himself well on the battle-field. Unfortunately, the lifesaving lethal strike prevention effect didn't appear on his newly-enhanced items.

The next morning, Jiang Tian returned to the Xia Clan's Main Residence and was greeted by the sight of a terrifying and cold Xia Bingyue waiting for him at his living room.

Xia Bingyue crossed her arms together and her countenance looked so cold that it could freeze the heavens itself. Upon detecting Jiang Tian's arrival, she lifted her head and directed a fierce glare at his direction.

"Welcome home...How was the City of Frost? Beautiful, right?"

Jiang Tian froze in his footsteps and sighed in his heart. 'As expected of the Xia Clan, information sure travels fast...'

"What do you mean City of Frost?" Jiang Tian decided to play dumb and asked her in confusion.

"You still have the guts to play dumb after you blatantly stole my monthly allowance from the Clan..." Xia Bingyue's lips twitched and it eventually formed a crooked smile. Her eyes flashed in a crimson light of killing intent.

"Steal? What do you mean steal? I would never steal something!" Jiang Tian retorted with a fierce look on his face and Xia Bingyue lightly laughed, "Then, what should your actions yesterday be called? Borrowing?"

Cold breeze swept past Jiang Tian's body. As someone that cultivated on the Frozen Sovereing Manual. His body possessed resistance to coldness, yet when this cold breeze enveloped him, his heart lurched and a wry smile lifted on his lips.

"Yeah, I call it borrowing...Don't worry, I'll return ten times the amount that I borrowed..." Jiang Tian declared and Xia Bingyue's figure froze, Ten times? That's a thousand Spirit Stones? Even I have to wait for almost a year to accumulate that much wealth...

Her eyes scanned Jiang Tian and found no trace of lies.

"I see, if that's the case then I will forgive you...However!" When Jiang Tian heard that Xia Bingyue would forgive him, his expression flashed with relief but when she suddenly shouted. Jiang Tian's wry smile intensified.

"I need a proper explanation about what you did at the City Square, just because father favors you doesn't mean that you could blatantly kill anyone in broad daylight using the name of the Xia Clan..." The cold light within her eyes intensified and Jiang Tian sighed once more.

"Miss Xia Bingyue, do you really think that the Xia Clan is peaceful? It may look so in the surface but deep within the shadows of the City lurked numerous organizations that would like to partake on the delicious piece of meat called the City of Frost..." Jiang Tian gesticulated with his hands and shook his head in the end.

"What do you mean?" Xia Bingyue asked with a frown and Jiang Tin continued.

"My actions yesterday served too purpose for me. First, it intimidated those that planned on robbing me off my wealth and second, it also serves as a warning to those influences, it serves as a reminder that the dignity of the Xia Clan is still present and shall not be challenged..." Jiang Tian's words were laced with infinite coldness, void of the complacentness that he had earlier. It was as Jiang Tian became a different person at this moment of declaration.

'Oops...' Jiang Tian thought and lightly coughed, 'It seems like I released some of my inhibited aura as the Ghost Emperor...' He clapped his hands together and said, "How about it? Can you forgive my actions now?"

Xia Bingyue mulled over his words and found it logical. Gnashing her teeth, Xia Bingyue became irritated that she could not find any flaws regarding Jiang Tian's reasoning. Standing up with indignance on her face, she glanced at him and said.

"I forgive you but remember that you have to return a thousand Spirit Stones to me in three months!" She walked towards the exit, but Jiang Tian's words stopped her.

"Three months? You need not worry about that. If that old man was capable enough, I would return a thousand Spirit Stones to you in a day or two..." Jiang Tian slightly smiled and coincidentally, a knock echoed behind the room, followed by the appearance of a familiar aura.

"So that old man finally completed his appraisal of the blueprint that I passed? It seems like I'll be paying you soon, Miss Bingyue..." Xia Bingyue made a sidelong glance at Jiang Tian with a frown on her face. 'What does he mean that he would be paying me soon? Gathering a thousand Spirit Stones in a short time is easier said than done!'

Xia Bingyue felt dubious but when Jiang Tian opened the doors, the appearance of a certain old man destroyed her doubts.
