9 Chapter 9: Company
I kept walking until night time and rested on the top of a dune. Once, again I covered a lot of distance by keeping my Item Box open when I ran.
I bit into a slice of meat as I laid down and I looked at the distant stars. I began to think of everything that happened since I transmigrated. My meeting with the the other heroes silhouettes, Talking with the overseer, getting Indy, walking this bloody desert and my fight with the Wyrm.
I realised that, though my ability allows me to survive almost anything, it won't help me when I'm stuck facing strong enemies. I won't have any method to retaliate. I need to raise my strength.
I wondered how the other heroes were doing anyway. Where are they now?
My thoughts were interrupted by Indy.
>
"What?" I sat up, alert and began to survey my surroundings. The moonlight was good enough to see.
>
Hm, people in this desert? They must be part of a travelling caravan then. But, who are they searching for?
"Indy, where are they coming from?" (MC)
>
So, they must've seen the Wyrm's carcass. But how do they know I'm here.

.
.
.
Damn, I'm an idiot. By using the Item Box for travel, I left a "I'm here, track me!" to anyone following me..
.

.
.
.
What am I going to do? Do they want to kidnap me and enslave me.
"Indy, does slavery exist in this world?" (MC)
>
I let out a sigh of relief.
Everything valuable I have, I can put in my Item Box. My identity as a hero won't be revealed that easily.

Then I remembered the stupid ability that are present in all Light Novels.
"Indy, can you block [Appraisal]?" (MC)
>
Phew, dodged a bullet there. So, if they can't appraise me, then I'll be safe. What if they're looking for the Hero?
.
.
.
.
I decided to gamble with my safety.

When the group of trackers left the Wyrm's corpse, and searched the surroundings. Soon they found tracks of a person heading westward. The path was almost level and straight, sometimes even heading in right through collapsed runes. Soon the trackers returned, and the whole group headed westward.
They rode on a tamed Giant Sand Lizard. The group leader was anxious to find the hero.
An hour after sunset, they still rode forward. The group was getting tense, and the leader was silently looking ahead at the endless sand.
Just when they began to get tired, a sight entered their eyes. Up ahead, on a tall dune they saw a white-haired youth sitting cross-legged, facing them . His face wasn't clearly visible from far. His head was resting on his arm, leaning to his side, like he was thinking.
Behind him in the skies, the Mystical lights of the North shone, like they were alive and reacting to his presence. They didn't see it clearly, but there he was sitting on the head of a Sand Wyrm.
The desert wind blew, and the sands started to move in the wind. But he still sat in the middle of it all, like it didn't affect him at all.
His posture indicated one thing.
He knew they were coming, and he was waiting for them.

The group leader gulped, and a feeling of elation ran through the whole groups mind, as they saw that Imposing and Majestic figure facing them.
Then a deep voice rang out,
"Who dares disturb me?"
