Lord Titanheart

35 Gate City

Leon didn't say anything when he returned the camp. He directly entered his tent and laid down. He didn't sleep, but he was thinking about why did he spared Casper. He already knew where he was and it was a great opportunity to finish his job with Theo and focus on clearing the remaining three dungeons. He couldn't make sense, it was both logical and right thing to do, but there was a voice that was stopping him to do it. It wasn't a literal voice, but there was a disagreement within him.

Leon didn't know the reason, but he might understand when they entered the trials of gods and encountered with Casper there. The first trial was testing the destiny, but after that, Leon was sure that there would be tests for strength and battle power, so it was possible to fight with others. Thinking this Leon closed his eyes and slept.

..

"So this is where we take the trials." Leon said, looking at a gate which was ten meters high and filled inscriptions and drawings. The gate wasn't connected to any building, it was alone a gate. Leon didn't find it weird, trials of gods were important, so it was reasonable them to take place in a sub-space.

Aside from Leon and his group, there were all kinds of people here from other races. Leon could see elves, dwarves, beastmen and demons. There might be other races too, but Leon couldn't discern them in the sea people. He couldn't even see Casper here.

The trials of gods were open to the one's with mana cultivation in mana gathering stage. It wasn't false mana gathering, but real mana gathering with their mana pools opened, above that stage couldn't pass through the gate and participate the trials. Also the age of participants wasn't important. So all maguses who was in the mana gathering realm wanted to participate the trials to gain fated chances. The maguses who was getting old had more interest in the trials than the younger maguses.

The gate area wasn't controlled by any power in the world, and it had a free city which was built by merchants and didn't have any affiliations. The trials of gods would open in every ten years and Gate City would become livelier during the opening. The merchants would come to open stalls, most of the merchandise was magical tools and materials. The inns in the Gate City were full with magus who wanted to find their fortuitous encounters.

Leon and the group found an inn to stay and looked around for magical devices, during the gate opening, the whole economic activity of the system world would be in Gate City, so finding magical resources was easier for maguses. Leon left the group, he also wanted to find resources. Leon and Hermes walked around the city.

Leon wanted to find some materials to prepare a material body for his book of knowledge. While his book of knowledge could do a lot of things, it was slow. Creating a material body for it, would sped it up and Leon wouldn't need to use much of mental power to make it running.

His soul artifact was a book, so there wasn't much of a choice for Leon to choose materials. He could only look for papers, strings, leather and ink. If he were to add other materials, his soul artifact wouldn't work properly.

Leon was walking, looking at the stalls to find good quality materials. Making a material body for a soul artifact wasn't like a forging a weapon. If Leon were to find better quality materials, he could change the body of his soul artifact.

While he was looking for them, he also collected any herb and magical fruit that he found. He had a lot of space in his portable garden to plant those magical plants. He had a lot money to spend, he sold what he got from the ruins of Elgard.

Leon also ordered some magical clothing which could expand in size. He didn't need any defense in his clothing, he was a titan and his bodily defense was enough for him. He needed size changing clothes for his real entity, he was fifteen meters high at the moment, but he would grow in size when he progressed in his titan cultivation, because of that he ordered them to could change hundred meters.

The shop that he ordered was specialized in magical clothing and they said that they could finish his clothes in the evening, so Leon ordered enough cloth to fill a wardrobe. He even ordered a saddle for Hermes, he ordered it to have a spatial bag and defensive properties. Hermes was still growing stage, but after he reached the adulthood, he could wield mana, so he could use the saddle as his armor and store meat for himself.

After he strolled enough, he was going to return to the inn, but he noticed a disturbance up ahead. He got curious and walked towards it. When he got close enough, he saw an acquaintance who was arguing with another acquaintance. They were Locke and Casper, who were arguing. Leon also noticed that Locke, who was a warrior at the time they dueled, opened his mana pool and became a magus, and he wasn't alone he had a girl with him again. This time she was an elder sister type.

["Maybe, he is really a protagonist of a light novel"] mused to himself Leon. He didn't get too close to them, but he listened them from a distance.

"I was already going to stop, I wasn't going to crash him."

"All nobles are like that, I bet you were enjoying crash to the passersby and watch them get hurt."

They were screaming each other, Leon understood a bit about the situation from how Locke was hugging a child of 7-8 years old. Probably Casper was riding his horse in the street and the child jumped in front him, then Locke jumped after him to save the child. Casper was already going to stop, but Locke thought that he was going to run over the child. Leon thought that it was a bit ridiculous to let free a child in this city while it was most crowded state. He might be orphan or he had parents who didn't care about him.

While Casper and Locke were still arguing, a young woman came and called

"Arvin, there you were. Come here." and the child who was hugged by Locke went over to the woman with his head hung down. The woman checked him numerous times, if he got any injuries and hugged him and said something. Leon didn't hear what she said, but Locke went over to the child and the woman

"Your sister came, huh, you shouldn't separate from your sister. If I didn't save you, you might be injured."

"I already said I was going to stop." Said Casper but Locke acted like he didn't hear him.

The woman mumbled something with inaudible voice, Locke asked her to say one more time

"I'm not his sister, I'm his mother." said the woman, Locke was shocked.

"I thought you were his sister. I didn't see any mother young and beautiful as you're."

When Leon heard that, he cursed that Locke was a humping dog in heat, but the woman blushed and looked away shyly.

["Is he really main character?"]
