Lord Titanheart

44 Warmonger Totem

Leon descended while he lit a fire on his palm. As he descended, the death energy and killing intent with a bloody stench were becoming more and more strong. When Leon finished the descending the stairs, he was greeted with spacious room with statues erected on both sides. All statues were holding weapons, they were looking like soldiers. Leon also noticed that at the end of the room, there was a totem. The totem had inscriptions and drawings on it, Lower half of the totem was showing a battlefield.

The scenes depicted on the totem was gruesome, there was soldiers who were fighting with each other, some were impaled with spears, some were decapitated with swords. Aside from the gruesome scene, Leon felt there was madness in the battle, even soldiers with both legs were severed, was trying to bite his opponents.

On the upper half, there wasn't any battle, there was a face with two horns sprouting from its forehead. Leon knew that creature, It was a daemon. The daemons were bloodthirsty creature among intelligent species. Most of the species would hide their main cultivation technique, but the daemons wouldn't do that, instead they would spread it.

The reason for that, they wanted to have opponents to battle, they craved for battles which would boil their bloods. They were intelligent species, but also mad for battles. Leon knew a bit about intelligent species and their treasures. The totem which was front of him, called [Warmonger Totem]. It had ability to impose the madness of the war to the daemons. The pressure that the totem had, could drive mad any other species, if they didn't have any precaution.

The totem was the one who was responsible for the bloodthirst and killing intent, but the statues the ones who were responsible for the death. Leon sent his senses to the statues and understood the reason for that. There were corpses inside of the statues, they probably cursed to death. Leon took three steps, just as he was about to take the fourth, the totem pressure folded. Leon didn't make haste and sat down. He was trying to regulate his breathing, the distance between Leon and the totem could be considered as close.

Leon could come that near because of the fights that he went through the ruins of Elgard, but to go further, he needed to temper himself with the bloodthirst and killing intent. It wasn't a mana tempering or body tempering, but it was mind tempering. Tempering mind with bloodthirst and killing intent was a dangerous thing to do, with a slight slip, one could turn into an irrational killing machine.

Leon might turn to a killing machine if he didn't ward his mind. The reason for him to take the risk was the totem itself. It wasn't a rare artifact or magical device, but Leon had a use for it, so he wanted to take it with him. But it wasn't going to be easy to take it, Leon couldn't take the fourth step. Leon had a powerful body, but his mind wasn't as strong as his body. Even though he battled with monsters in the Ruins of Elgard, he didn't get used to the atmosphere of a war, in fact he has never been in a war. The madness of a war was foreign to him. After he got used to the pressure, he stood up and took a step to the totem. The pressure intensified, but Leon didn't give up and took the second step. When he took the second step, his mind filled with anger and bloodlust, but he didn't step back. Instead, he sat down and regulated his breathing. Leon's mind might be full of bloodlust and anger, but he maintained his rationality. In this state, he might get used to the pressure and take the totem with him.

Leon didn't how much time passed as he was continuously advancing to the totem. He always took a few steps and sat down to get used to the pressure, when he got used to the pressure, he would advance. It was a monotonous circle.

As he advanced, the bloodlust and anger intensified. When Leon passed the midway, the bloodlust and the anger didn't leave him, instead they left a brand in his sea consciousness. Leon worried, but he noticed that they didn't try to consume his rationality. The anger and the bloodlust became part of him. At first, Leon thought it was anger, but after it left a brand, he was sure that it was battle intent, and the bloodlust was killing intent. Leon didn't have much knowledge about soul cultivation, so he wasn't sure if it was a good thing or bad.

After the brand came to be in his sea consciousness, Leon didn't feel much pressure in front of the totem, instead the pressure was condensing his brands in his sea consciousness and making them more tangible.

If someone were to look at Leon at this moment, they wouldn't recognize him as the same teenager as before. He was giving an air of a veteran soldier who passed his life in the battlefield. But was just an his aura, even so, he could overpower an ordinary civilian just with his gaze. Aside from the brands in his sea consciousness, Leon also felt that he was going to get something when he stand right in front of the totem. It was a vague feeling, but it was there.

How many days passed while he was in this room, Leon didn't know. There was no sunlight in the room, only torches which was behind of the statues, were illuminating the room. Leon was sitting in lotus position and trying to regulate his breathing. He only needed to take one step to reach in front of the totem, but the pressure was great as he got closer to the totem. Leon's eyes were closed as he was focusing on his sea consciousness. Brand of killing intent and brand of battle intent was bigger and more real. Leon didn't know any soul cultivation method even if there was one, but he didn't let any rouge killing and battle intent in his sea consciousness. He always gathered them and combined with the brands, he also put them away from the center of his sea consciousness. He didn't know what would happen if he were to spread them, but he didn't want to any experiment on it.

Leon opened his eyes, but his eyes were different. His eyes were looking like a mad dog who was yearning for battles. After a breath of time, his eyes gained their calmness. Leon wiped his sweat from his forehead, this turn, he almost lost himself. Then he looked at the totem with fear and anticipation, as Leon got near it, his feeling about that he would get something from totem, intensified. He also felt fear, he didn't know what would happen when he stood right in front of it.

He slowly got up and he took a step. When he put down his feet, he felt a power that was trying to drag him. That power was so intense, he couldn't even put an effort to pull himself back. Leon hurriedly sat down in lotus position. The power wasn't pulling his body, but his soul. When the power succeeded, Leon didn't see anything but darkness. Then he heard a booming voice.

"Wake up, Worms!"
