41 To War!
Back on top of the wall, numerous soldiers watched on while trembling. Their enemies numbered in thousands while they were only a thousand and a hundred or so men. What's more was that their general sent a teen to face against this great army. What was he thinking?
But despite their fear and the whispering voice behind their ears that tells them to run for their lives, these soldiers stayed, not because of honor or for their nation, they will fight simply for their family.
Silvia, Julian, Lina, Julius and Stella, each had a reaction of their own to this scene as Samael faced the marching army.
"Knowing him, he might go crazy for this one." Julian broke the tension in the air with his comment.
But instead of the tension turning to awkwardness, Lina giggled and added. "Yeah, I can see that."
"Let's just observe, okay?" Julius lightly said, this was a serious moment and these two were not taking it seriously.
Before Julian and Lina could even retort, something caught their attention. The enemy army's archer's released a hail of arrows towards Samael.
Back on the ground...
Samael saw the numerous arrows being released before it arched downwards towards him. But he didn't feel tensed, there wasn't even a sense of danger within him.
He walked forward, spreading his arms.
Such actions stunned not only the soldiers on top of the wall but also the enemy commander who was observing him from the distance.
"That brat! He's mocking us!"
The arrows hailed down upon him as he still continued walking with a smile...
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
Arrows fly by him one after another, each one getting closer and closer to hitting him but not one even grazed him. The sight caused everyone who observed the what was happening found their jaws dropping. Not even Julian and Lina, who knew Samael the longest among everyone there couldn't keep a straight face.
But Samael, at this moment, didn't care what others thought. He was focused...Focused on this strange but nostalgic feeling that bubbled up inside of him, like a recently woken beast, thirsting for blood.
Thump thump...
Thump thump...
Samael felt his heart beat stronger, though it remain steady and calm, he felt his blood coursing through his veins as his smile faded and he felt unusually at peace.
The moment he opened his eyes was the moment the arrows stopped hailing down on him. From deep within his crimson eyes, there burns a fire, similar to a calm but hungry beast, whose fangs are sharper than steel and now it shall have it's meal.
(Please listen to some epic fight music from here on out for an even better reading experience. Might I suggest, Fairy Tail's "Dragon Civil war" theme or "Against Magic" theme.)
Samael stayed focused on his enemies, like a sharp sword Samael's eyes gleamed red as he hastened his steps.
"Commander! The enemy is coming right at us!" On the other side of the battlefield, the scout reported to his commander.
The commander then took a look and saw the black haired teen, slowly pacing before speeding up and running at them with extreme speeds and with a calm look that almost seemed disturbing. He yelled to his troops "Shield wall! Everyone get ready to face the enemy!"
Ha...Hu!
The soldiers in formation moved in sync, their shields outward, they maintained a tight and solid wall of shield.
But such a thing won't stop Samael.
As he ran towards them, he obviously saw the shield wall that they've put up. After a split second decision, Samael sped up even more and when he reached their defensive line, he raised he left foot and used the shield before him as a stepping point as he jumped high into the air.
"Spears up!" The commander shouted once he saw Samael leap up into the air.
Hu!
The Soldiers lifted their long spears to the air in attempts of piercing Samael while he was airborne but to their surprise, the once easy target up in the air suddenly charged at them mid-air. He dodged their spears and before they knew it, he began slaughtering their fellow brothers.
Samael saw their actions while in the air and used 'Mirage' to charge at them. With his abilities he easily avoided their attacks, he grabbed one of the spear shaft and slid down it in a circular motion, blowing away the enemies around him.
Seeing their comrades get kicked away, angered some of the soldiers around Samael. Two soldiers charged at Samael with their spear, one coming at him in front and another from the right side.
These two soldiers thrust their spears, one aiming for his head and the other for his chest.
Samael bent backwards, avoiding the attack before him and arching his hips forward to avoid the attack on the side. With a swift movement he wrapped his hands around the spear that came from his side and locked the shaft in place between his arms and back.
Crack!
He broke the spear shaft and spun clockwise, using his right arm to push the broken part of the shaft, Samael sent the broken spear towards the enemy in front of him, piercing the chest. His left hand then snaked toward the body, grabbing it towards him before throwing it to the enemy on his side.
Just as he was gonna turn around, another soldier charged at him from his right side with a sword. Samael avoided his thrust by twisting his body clockwise, the sword barely grazed his skin before he grabbed the enemy's hand that held the sword, stopping the forward motion of the assailant. Then, he spun again, sending an elbow to the enemy's head, the force made the enemy's head cave in and blood erupted after wards.
As the enemy's body turned lifeless, Samael took the sword in his hands as he turned around, cutting another enemy soldier that came at him. This soldier's body got split from the shoulder down to his torso and he was left to bleed to death.
Samael continued his fast paced, circular slaughter. It didn't seem that anyone could injure him at this point!
As he the formation of his army slowly break from Samael's onslaught, the Commanding officer immediately issued an order.
"Surround him and Kill him!"
The soldiers surrounding Samael, moved as one thrusting their spears toward Samael who was inside their ranks.
As the spears closed in him, Samael yanked one out of an enemy soldier's hands. With a jump he avoided the spears that attacked him from all sides. Using the intersected parts of the enemy spears as a foothold Samael used the spear in his hands and in a sweeping motion, he cleaved through the heads of the enemy around him.
Samael jumped up and into another section of the enemy army, separating their lines by slamming the spear onto the ground.
Seeing his own soldiers getting decimated by a single person, the commanding officer raged "What the hell are you all doing?! That's just one person! How hard can it be to kill him!"
A couple of the colonels and captains beside him, turned to him and said "With all due respect, sir. This is the first time we've ever encountered such an enemy, we're not even sure we can take him."
Hearing this the Commander gritted his teeth as he muttered "Damn it, do i really have to call upon those arrogant pricks?"
But when he turned to the carnage that was happening to his great army, he swallowed his pride and ordered once of his men.
"Quick! Call the special forces, sent by his Majesty!"
"Yes, sir!" The soldier saluted before urging his horse and they galloped back to their base.
...
Back at the wall...
The General and his two Colones had their eyes wide open, their mouths agape by what they were seeing.
"Just one man...turned the enemy army like that?" The First Colonel muttered.
"I-it can't be? How?! How can that brat be that powerful?" The Second Colonel felt his world breaking apart.
He was also a martial artist but wasn't gifted with a talent or a good background. Still, he pursued martial arts till he got stronger and reached 4-star body refinement realm which is a level that even commoners would only be able to dream of.
"..." Contrary to his two Colonels, the General stared at the battlefield, stunned but he didn't utter a word as he remembered the confident look on Samael's face when he proposed this plan. Remembering this, the General smiled before he laughed.
Besides them, Silvia and the others were also surprised by the scene.
"Damn! He's really cutting loose." Julian said. His eyes were burning with the desire to fight but more than that he was really surprised. All this time when they were sparring, he always held back on his strength and even then Samael was able to match him in terms of combat capabilities.
But now...that little freak had already surpassed him by a large margin! If he were to be placed in Samael's shoes while he will also able to break their ranks, he wasn't confident of doing it solely using his physical abilities and without any martial arts skills.
In fact, none of them who were observing the battle was confident enough to say that they can accomplish the same thing Samael did. If anything, the only one who come close to his skills would probably be Julian and Silvia.
Silvia calmly observed what was happening like nothing could ever affect her but in fact everything she saw greatly affected her. She is also a serious cultivator who aims to be the strongest to achieve her own dreams and she took pride in her talents and achievements. But what was happening before her very eyes was something that shook that very pride.
From her mesmerizing eyes a fire burned, she swore that one day she would make Samael see her as his equal.
"Heads up, looks like the enemy experts are approaching." Julian's voice rang in her ear.
She turned to the skies behind the enemy army and indeed, she felt three powerful auras coming towards them.
...
Back at the battle field, the Commander felt the familiar aura of the reinforcements he requested, a smile crept up his face and he raised his sword.
"Fall back! Everyone fall back!"
Hearing this order, every soldier gladly retreated. They no longer wanted anything to do with this grim reaper that disguised itself as a young man.
"Retreat!"
"Run for your lives!"
Each soldiers relayed the orders to one another. Samael naturally noticed this and found that the enemy soldiers that previously surrounded him began cautiously stepping back as their fellow comrades retreated. When more and more soldiers ran back, there were more room to move to they too ran as fast as they could to get away from Samael.
As the enemy troops retreated, the plain was cleared of obstruction and everyone clearly witnessed the hundreds of enemy corpses which Samael has killed in his onslaught. Blood flowed, staining the ground as it seeped deep into the earth. Flesh and blood littered the earth and there was a pungent smell of blood in the air.
Samael didn't look like he intended to chase them as he already knew why they chose to retreat now. From the looks on their faces, those terrified eyes of theirs. He was sure that he succeeded in instilling the fear of death into their hearts but he wanted to do something special.
Something that will haunt them for the rest of their lives...
Smirking, Samael turned to the skies, spreading his arms and he muttered.
"Celestial Blood Leviathan: Devour!"
As his energy essence was roused, his blood physique art is activated. All the blood that surrounded Samael in this battlefield, wriggled as it all rose to the air before they shot towards Samael's mouth.
The large amount of blood that rose to the air as they came down pouring into Samael's mouth, left an eternal imprint into the hearts of the enemy soldiers. It was like they were seeing a hungry demon, gorging itself in their comrade's blood. Their heart was suddenly gripped tight with fear as some of them fell down, trembling.
As the blood of the fallen, continued coming at him. A faint, red wings started appearing from Samael's back.
Silvia and the others saw this and was stunned, they've never heard of any cultivation art that had this kind of ability or effect. Among them, the only who had a complicated look, like everything was slowly making sense to her was Princess Lina.
She remembered the cultivation art Samael gave her, she have never heard of it and though it was only a 'strong' cultivation art but who would've known that it would be so powerful that her cultivation level would start rising and changing as soon as she practiced it.
Now things slowly made sense to her but together with that, the mystery of Samael's past made her curious more than ever.
After moments of absorbing the blood around him, the wings on his back became more detailed and even life-like but Samael knew that he still needed more blood, the stronger and rarer it is, the better.
But he can think about that later.
"Hmm...3-star Spiritual root realm or stronger, this is exciting... Let's greet our new guest..." He thought to himself.
He saw three figures coming towards him, he already gauged their strength just by the aura they exuded and from this Samael knew that this will be fun...
Whoosh!
And as he expected, these three experts really did came straight at him with the intention of killing him.
The two of the sides blasted a palm and fist attack towards him. The palm attack was like a mountain bearing down on him and the fist attack was like a water dragon rising from the seas. The one in the middle took out his sword and attacked seven times.
These barrage of attack rained down on Samael and gave him tremendous pressure but even then he continued to smile. Clenching his fist, he dug his feet deep into the ground. Golden light shone from his fist as he punched out towards the incoming attacks.
"Heaven Breaking Fist!"
Boom!
