The Special Mentor

24 Poor Miceter

Back to Me

After Zed had rushed inside of the tavern and I was done questioning my decisions so far, I couldn't help but feel puzzled.

Why?

Because I talked to a human as a cat! Well, Zed's not actually human but you get the point. I did something I didn't even know I could do!

I'm excited that I managed to come so far since the past twenty-four hours but also a little bit spooked. After all, I managed to speak after being overwhelmed with emotion. Who knows, maybe I'll accidentally hurt somebody when we're having an argument.

That would be terrible!

And I also have to consider the fact that my ability to speak was a fluke!

I think--I'm not sure. I'll have to wait until Zed comes back out to test my theory.

But either way, this whole situation is just weird!

But now that I think about it, a cat being able to communicate with a mouse is strange in its own way.

Huh...

...is this a gift horse?

Am I not supposed to question why I'm able to speak at all--much less able to communicate with other animals? Should I just pretend that every thing is clouds and rainbows and move on my merry way?

No!

That just doesn't feel right!

The only possibility I can come up with for my strange abilities is that there's still a bit of Calamitis inside of the body I'm currently controlling.

That's terrifying as all Hell!

If I'm correct, is Calamitis still alive? Is he conscious? Is he struggling to take control as I think?

Just the thought of being trapped inside your own body without being able to do anything about it is horrifying.

Although, to fair, this isn't technically his body considering he's not normally a cat...

Ugh, this is not a time to be technical, me!

What should I do with this information?

...

...

I think I'll put it on hold, there's not much else I can do, to be honest.

What can I do?

Ask the System?

Hmm...

That's a good idea...

Or perhaps not, it'll probably think I'm messing with it.

I don't want to find out what happens if I make it angrier than it currently is.

What if it gives me another quest?

I shiver at the thought.

Luckily, the sound of Miceter's voice interrupted me before I could come up with something crazier.

The moment I lifted my head up, I was met with a surprise.

Poor little Miceter was no longer the pristine white mouse I came to know. Instead, he had transformed into a little wet ball of brown fur. And his tiny little ribbon did nothing to help his figure, only emphasizing the problem. The ribbon was no longer red but a dark shade of crimson.

No matter how I looked, Miceter had turned into a turd with red eyes.

"Miceter, what happened to you?" I called out with tears in my eyes.

Miceter... he's had it hard, hasn't he?

And then, to add insult to injury, Zed gave Miceter his creepiest Villain smile.

Well, if Miceter isn't grounded by the end of the day, my name is Calamitis.
