Grand Magus

49 Reason of the muscular man

After the muscular woman asked this question, her little brother continued to wail.

Tears streamed out of his eyes like there is an unending gush of water.

It seemed like that the muscular man reverted to his childhood as he grabbed the sleeve of his big sister in a manner that reminded Fraser of children who wailed at the side of their mothers when something unfair in their eyes happened to them.

After a few sentences containing "unfair", "mean and evil Fraser" and "punish him" the muscular man finally started to reveal the information to his big sister:

"Well, this meanie said to me that if I give only one pile of corpses to Fraser, then he will give me candy."

At that sentence, Frasers frowned like he never frowned before.

'Is he kidding me? Because of Candy?'

That reason took Fraser completely by surprise.

He thought that the reason would be greed, the suppression of an uprising apprentice, the wish of Elizabeth, Elise, Adrian or Nicholas, the standard procedure for new apprentices or any other reason with a positive result for the muscular man or his big sister.

But candy?

'Does he want to kid me? The reason why the muscular man cheated me off my pile of corpses is because of candy?'

With a twitch in his eyes, Fraser watched how the muscular man continued to cry in the embrace of his big sister.

The people in the room resumed their actions, yet their eyes were clearly looking at the drama which unfolded in the group of the muscular woman.

"Which meanie? Tell your big sister about this "meanie" and everything will be alright." replied the muscular woman in a soothing voice towards her little brother.

Lifting his remaining arm, the muscular man pointed with his finger towards an apprentice in the same group.

Every figure followed the finger of the little brother which pointed towards a concealed apprentice.

"Hoh? Do you dare to betray me? Who offers more than my group?" with a slightly surprised voice the muscular woman stared at the concealed figure.

Without even saying anything the concealed figure left the group and slowly walked towards a certain direction.

Fraser followed the concealed figure with his eyes, who ended up standing next to an apprentice known to him:

Emium.

The white masked apprentice sat there in a relaxed manner while the concealed figure took the stance of an attendant.

A loud gnashing sound of teeth colliding could be heard from the muscular woman.

It was clear that with the accelerated breathing rhythm and the fact that the face of the muscular woman turned into an unhealthy shade of red, a confrontation between Emium and the muscular woman couldn't be avoided.

A short moment of silence and tension appeared in the room.

Even Fraser couldn't deny the fact that he felt like the muscular woman would erupt in anger and attack Emium.

However, everything, the silence, and the tension, disappeared the moment a slender hand patted the shoulder of the muscular woman.

"Vira, stop it." said a calm voice which had the effect of a soothing bath.

"He is not someone we can fight with. The betrayal is harsh. But we have to move on."

At the first part, the speaker looked towards Emium, at the latter part, the speaker glanced at everyone from the muscular woman group.

It was the voice of the woman who looked like one of those fantasy elves who stopped Vira, the muscular woman.

A wooden longbow hung behind her back, a quiver with arrows adorned her curvy hips and her pointy ears made Fraser think of the elves from fantasy stories.

After calming down Vira with a single sentence, the fantasy elve turned her head towards Fraser and penetrated him with her forest green eyes. She started to speak:

"We are willing to compensate you with twenty pile of corpses. Naturally, only if that is okay for you."

'Even though I am probably only able to control around seven or eight servants of the type soldier, the extra pile of corpses can always be eaten by my servants.'

"I am willing to accept the compensation for the actions of your group member. I want to ask when the tide will happen." replied Fraser with an emotionless voice.

Fraser could throw a tantrum about being unfair and treated unfairly, however it wouldn't give him anything and only satisfy his emotional cravings.

Besides Fraser already had the necessary power to speak on equal terms with the group as his servants easily crippled one of their members.

'I should remember the option of giving less or nothing to a trade partner with disadvantages.'

Having Fraser "forgiveness" the elve started to speak:

"The twenty corpse piles will be delivered to you within a week. Also, the tide is not a single event, instead it is an event stretched out a certain time period where the monsters and animals of the howling abyss will gather, charge out of the howling abyss and attack everything that is not part of the tide."

Even though the first sentence of the elve couldn't be considered important for anyone in the room, except for Fraser, the rest is important information.

Especially for the apprentice who never witnessed a tide.

So it was no wonder when Fraser saw how a couple of apprentices slowly neared his position in order to listen to what the elve said.

Even four members of within the group of Vira and the elve listened in a careful manner.

Without surprise, the four were Elise, Adrian, Nicholas, and Elizabeth.

After that conflict, Fraser immediately turned around and walked towards the exit.

One, Second and Third accompanied him like loyal servants.

Naturally in a manner concealing their insectic features. Though One still held the arm of the muscular man in his arms.

As Fraser turned his head around when he stepped through the door, he saw an interesting thing.

However in order to not alarm anyone he walked back towards his room in a calm manner.

'I saw that the arm stump of the muscular man started to regenerate in a fashion that I have never seen before. I even saw how the shoulder slowly started to appear again. Was this entire thing a plan designed for me?'

As soon as Fraser arrived back at his private chamber, he locked himself up in his room and started to continue his hermit lifestyle which mostly consisted of meditation.

He also played a little bit with the baby bat which started to grow in a normal fashion. Still, the baby bat didn't have the size of a bat its age.

While waiting for the twenty corpse piles Fraser also mapped out his future experimenting goals and projects he wanted to do.

One of the major things he wanted to do included his innate spell of servant creation.

Apparently special abilities or certain features of the devoured creatures could be transferred over to his servants. The problem now was figuring out if the mutation is caused by genes/spirits or anything else that hasn't been on his radars.

Besides, the possibility of permanent transfer of certain features or special abilities could be possible.

This would allow Fraser to handpick strong creatures with strong abilities and transfer every ability with an advantage towards his servants.
