76 Lucas & Elea
So, some problems come to mind after his stupidity two days ago. First, the add-on he relied most (*couch* poison *couch*) are easily treated if there were a chance to do so. He fights alone most of the time since even in the city he would sent Val to do other things while he go do another so he can't rely on number to keep the pressure up.
Second, after a fight he never verify the condition of his opponents. He always take it for granted that they are dead.
Third, he always forgot the existence of his map and how it can tell and show him if his opponents are dead or not by their color. Of course it has its weaknesses such as the colors doesn't overlap and the dead will not be visible if a living one is on top of it but that won't be an immediate thing after a fight right?
Fourth and last he could think of, he spent too much time drifting into thoughts in battle that he have way too many openings. This time he is lucky his opponent are more wary of him than he is wary of the other, if not his opponent would have noticed that he is not planning on concluding the fight with the shortest amount of exchange possible but was completely spacing out.
Fighting the urge to sigh, he kept a smiling face as he hand the merchandise his costumer wanted and receive the payment.
Yes he is still selling like nothing happened although it could be seen how tense the people are from the amount of patrol and what items people bought.
For example, the costumer that just walk away, he was buying a stock of healing potion and some buff items that he could use in case of a fight. Another example would be the guy that just left the small weapon vendor across of him, he just bought a couple throwing knifes and even a sword even though he look like a normal farmer.

But that won't matter tomorrow because tomorrow will be the day he left. The visitation permit last a total of 10 days but why would he do that when his job is done?
Moving on, his stay here had been quite profitable in a merchant perspective. If he spent 35 silver in total, he had received a total of 6 gold 42 silver 12 copper from my sales.
The most popular product, unexpectedly, would be the steroids. in the beginning I sold it for 10 silver for its properties, but after the influx of costumer and the recent event I raise it to 15 silver but it doesn't seem to affect the number or costumer. Most of them are male or suspicious hooded figures tho but I did caught sight of a noble insignia from some of them.
With the side effect of it, I think I can pretty much imagine why it is popular for this specific gender and why most bought it in the evening. What I don't get is why would some of the female costumers I had bought something like that!
Yes, they all know of the main effect and side effect since they all ask about it. I mean that's natural, this is practically a never seen before item. Freshly introduced to the market so to say.
Anyway, potions aren't the only thing I sold. I had a few transactions over herbs and couple other ingredients on display. No worries, they can stay there for days and it won't rot. I place them over preserving magic circle after all so they are all fresh.
Looking at the position of the sun, I think it's about 3 in the afternoon so I decided to call it a day and start packing.
"Done for the day kid? Be careful out there aight, don't become a victim of the recent murder." The old man across the street said. Yep he's from the same weapon shop I said earlier, I call him old Borris.
"Thanks for the warning old Borris, but I think I can handle it if someone come after me." I replied in confidence as I puff my chest out, resulting in his and a couple others laugh. He wave me off as I put the last of my stuff on my coach.
I left the market and headed towards Meel's house, I do this every evening. In case you get the wrong idea, I didn't do this to compensate for the wall or because I like her company but because next to their house is a stable for horses. I rented a spot there to take care of my horse and to store my coach, helping Meel is just a side effect.
Honestly, the kid are very talented and if someone gave her proper teaching she would reach far in the business. In fact I envy her talent, without the system I can't do even half of what I do now so for her to rely only on herself is really enviable to me.
By the time I left for my inn, I once again am glad I did not meet her father again today. He just have that creepy smile that disturb even me and his sense of humour are just bad.
Although laying on the bed, I couldn't sleep just yet. I have been thinking of ways or combination of ingredients to make a poison that's hard to dispell but I couldn't come up with any from my current resources. I really need to find more dungeon, there had got to be some that have super deadly poison or something.
Well, whichever it is I just hope that I won't got done in by my luck in those accursed places.
.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..
Swinging it's arm down, the gigantic sword in it's arm crash down to the ground turning the impact point into a small crater with spider web-like cracks around it. But unfortunately for it, it's intended target manage to jump out of its way and are making it's way around it.
The cloaked figure toss a couple vials towards the sentinel's right shoulder joint before throwing another just another vial before sliding pass a thrust made by the sentinel.
The first vial first burn the sentinel's shoulder, quickly turning the dark metal glowing red, before the second vial arrive and encasing it in ice just as the third arrive and explode. Causing the ice to shatter along with the sentinel's left shoulder joint.
The last vial then hit the ground beneath the sentinel, spreading smoke that covered the lower half of the circular hall they are fighting in just as the sentinel's arm crash on the ground.
The sentinel lifted it's sword arm up high preparing for a wide sweep as it had done to clear this trick once more but three arrows hit and stuck in the gap made between it's shoulder and arm, preventing it from moving it for a second before it snaps and the sword move in a arc, bringing mighty wind with it and blown all the smoke away.
Just then, an explosion hit the foot it used as an anchor point for it's move. Making it flinch just as tiny figure nimbly jump up it's knee, using it as a platform, and jump up to its face.
By the programmed logic it have, it tried to move it's left arm to grab before it reaches it's face and slam the figure to the ground but it's arm is no longer there. Letting the figure freely grab on the top of it's face mask and thrust it's toothpick through its eye slid.
The figure sword hit true as it pierce the eye of the sentinel or in other words its core, making it shatter into pieces.
The sentinel stop moving and stood frozen on its place once it's core stop powering it, it's sword arm just a few feet away from another cloaked figure holding a bow.
The first figure let go of their grip and let themself free fall before it's ally catches him below.
After catching his falling friend, the second figure look up towards the dead sentinel and remove his hood. Revealing a pretty faced boy that could easily mistaken as a girl with dirty blonde hair and emerald green eyes.
"That was a pretty dumb move." He commented, eyeing the sword still stuck on the sentinel face.
"Heh, it works didn't it? Besides, if the legends are true I won't be needing that anymore." The other figure said, getting up to his feet with some effort.
"Anyway let's go, the doors should be open now." He added looking across the room, a huge white double door stood there. The doors are decorated golden and silver lines, circling around the engraving of a beautiful goddess surrounded by runes.
As he was about to step forward a hand held his shoulder, making him look towards his friend.
"Rest, you need it Lucas. You haven't slept at all for the last few days." The blonde said, tightening his grip and repeated, "rest".
Lifting his own hood Lucas gave his friend a tired smile. "How can I? We are right in front of the gate of trials, we are so close to getting what we need. How can I rest knowing we almost succeed?"
Shaking his head, the blonde look at him sternly. "Lucas, do you remember the lore? You only have one chance to do this. If you fail then you'll die and all of this would be for nothing."
"Think about it we don't know what will this trial of the heart be and we don't know how high the success chances are in your prime, much less your current condition." He reason with him, making Lucas hung his head down.
"But Elea if that old lady is right, then we only have a month left to prepare. If I take a rest we would barely made it back before disaster strikes, we would even be late by a few days if we warn Luna and her family first." He said, raising his head to look at his friend in the eyes.
"Then a few days late we'll be, our parents are capable enough to delay it that much, heh I won't even be surprised if they could actually resolve whatever will happen before we arrive." His friend answer with confidence, smiling lightly as he messed with his hair. "So have some confidence in them alright, you should really stop trying to shoulder everything yourself."
"Fine, we'll rest for now, but I'll be entering it first thing tomorrow morning." He finally relented and sat down leaning on the sentinel cold leg.
Seeing his friend finally closes his eyes and rest, Elea sat down beside him and keep rest as well, they would be safe enough within a boss room of a dungeon unless people come through which he highly doubt. After all there's nothing much in the barren mountain south of the capital and besides, beast kin are a pretty honorable race, even their bandits and criminals don't attack people in their sleep or do immoral deeds other than stealing or pillaging villages.
Soon enough, he fell asleep in his musings of the beast kin race and his comparison to the humans. But as his breath turn to a steady rhythm, Lucas slowly open his eyes and mouthed to his friend "I'm sorry" before leaving through the engraved doors.
