10 Chapter 10

The village was full of people. Children were running down the streets, chasing each other and laughing when they fell. Alina stood outside the inn with a smile one her face. She was so happy to see a village after years of being secluded to the castle. Lyle stood next to her and smiled as well. "I'm gonna go and check out the square." said Lyle as he startes to walk towards the center of town. "I'll go look around the shops." said Alina back. Lyle walked off and Alina walked into the nearest shop. She recognized this to be a shop of wizardry. Along the walls were wands of different woods and glass cases filled with cursed items. Alina walked to one of the walls filled with wands. She study each one meticulously until she stumbled upon one made of dark oak. The handle was made of pure quartz with a small ruby at the end. She picked up the wand and studied it closer. She weighed the wand in both hands, deciding if the wand was balanced enough for her. She held the wand in her right hand as she walked up to the pay counter. A old woman, about sixty or seventy, was sitting there. Alina sat the wand down on the counter and pulled out about fifty dollars worth of money. She set the money on the counter and the woman took it. Alina took the wand off the counter and started out the door until she heard a soft voice from behind her, "The one you seek lies in The Woods of Night." The woman sat there still while speaking. Alina looked at her with a puzzled look and continued out the door. Suddenly there was screaming. People were running down the streets in panic. Alina stood startled and started running to the middle of the village. There she saw a figure of darkness standing with Lyle in its grasp. Lyle was struggling with all his might to get free from its grasp. The figure only tightened its grip and Lyle winced in pain. Alina stopped and stared she readied her wand in her hand and pointed it to the figure. With a voice that was strong and powerful she yelled "Lascia che il fuoco voli attraverso l'aria!" A spiral of fire burst from the tip of the wand. The fire flew to the figure and peirced its dark skin. It screeched in pain and let go of Lyle. He hit the ground and winced in pain. Lyle picked himself up and ran to Alina to back her up. The figure stood there with a menacing look in its bright white eyes. Suddenly its mouth opened and from it came a voice, "I know you seek me and you know where I am. But if you continue your search for me I will make sure your end will be as painful as possible." The creatures mouth shut again and it suddenly disintegrated into a pile of ash. "What was that!" Lyle asked Alina. "I don't know. I don't know Lyle. But it had to be sent by whoever burned our homes." Alina said. She sat down on the ground panting from the sheer amount of power she used. People stared poking out of their house and with a cheer surrounded Alina and Lyle with happy faces. There were thank you's and hand shaking wherever the walked. They finally made it back to the inn and to their room. Alina collapsed on the bed and sighed. She thought to herself "that was why Father and Simon always pushed me to train and train." Alina sat with that thought in her head till she fell asleep of pure exhaustion.
