Reincarnated as God

5 The Summoning Tab

'So now, to see what I can do with this.' Meng Li thought excitedly. Quickly shifting his attention to the screen in his mind once again, he selected a tool in the left section. It was something called 'land modification', and the second he selected it, he got the knowledge of how to use it. He could move large amounts of substance around and shape it, but whether it remained in the shape he made was another thing. For example, he could shape both dirt and rock at will as though he was mending clay, but once he released the modification tool, the material would once again be under effect of gravity - so, dirt would simply collapse, but stone would stay in a shape, provided that it wasn't floating and had enough support not to collapse. Meng Li decided to first raise a big amount of earth and move it, in order to create a mountain. He had also seen that a small figurine was standing next to the crater in the place he previously placed the teleportation marker, and quickly realised that it was a representation of him. Upon zooming in a bit, he could see himself standing there, with a frown of concentration on his face. He couldn't help but smirk a little, since such an experience of seeing one's self was... Unique. To his surprise, the him he saw in his consciousness also smirked - it was a really weird feeling.

Ignoring his representation in his consciousness, he once again returned to controlling the huge amount of dirt. When he turned his attention to something else, it had fallen down and created a small hill of about 10 meters in height. The amount of material he could control with the tool in his consciousness was really something... It probably was possible to do so with his qi alone, but he could tell that it would require a huge amount of control over his qi. Deciding to simply leave it as a small hill, he opened his eyes. What he saw was the last confirmation, that the tools in his head were, in fact, real. Or, should I say, working.

As he walked over to the hill made from dirt, he noticed the crater behind it. After all, the tools he had weren't creating matter from nothing - they were moving it. So, to create a hill, he also created an equally big crater.

Deciding to first examine the crater, he jumped into it. The soil at the bottom was loose, and quite dry from what he could tell. It was almost like sand in some places, with some slightly larger pebbles mixed in. Even with his practically non-existent farming knowledge, he could tell that it was lacking in nutrients. The soils which made up the hill was the same - practically darker sand.

Slightly confused as to what he could do with this, he decided to instead check out something he ignored previously. The 'summoning' tab. He could tell from the name alone that it was used to summon things - but what things. He already previously noticed that there were several categories. So, for starters, he chose the 'plant' category and decided to organize the list by starting from the items which had the highest qi cost to summon - he wanted to look at what he could buy in the future, even if he couldn't right now.

The moment he chose to organize the list, it changed. It seemed that the computer or the AI running the summoning list was quick. As he mentally focused on the items which showed up before him, a brief description about the item appeared and he would get a feeling for how much qi was needed to summon it. He also noticed that a line of text appeared above the catalogue, which read It seemed that he was not yet qualified to see all of the things that the summoning tab had for him in the future. It was a shame, but it was still an interesting experience for Meng Li to see what things he could summon when he was at the Nascent Soul Realm.

However, when Meng Li focused on the first item in the catalogue, he soon regretted his decision. Despite the fact that a description of the item was sent to his brain, he couldn't even focus on it because he felt a huge pressure crushing him. It was as though every cell of his body was being compressed by a hydraulic press... It was unbearable. He couldn't breathe, as all of the oxygen in his lungs was pushed out by the gigantic pressure. Fortunately, it didn't last long and he stopped feeling it soon, but even the extremely small period of exposure to it left him gasping on the floor like a fish out of water.

Meng Li decided to return to the white room after a few seconds of lying on the ground. It seemed that the weird being which spoke to him through the magic wall helped him, since he appeared laying on the bed. Only after a few minutes of rest could Meng Li think clearly again.

'What was that?!' he wanted to know where the pressure came from first. 'Was it... the amount of qi which was required to summon that weird tree?! Even the mere idea of it reduced me to such a state!'

If this was true, then the Nascent Soul Realm was absolutely terrifying. The mere feeling for the amount of qi which a Nascent Soul cultivator possessed was enough to incapacitate him for at least ten minutes. 'Horrifying.' Thought Meng Li with a small shudder.

Only now did he think again about the description of the tree that was sent into his mind.

' This... This...'

As he recalled the grandiose description of the tree, he didn't really know how to react. After all, the realm which the description was talking about was so out of his reach he couldn't even catch a glimpse of it, let alone think of breaking through to a realm higher than it. But he now knew one more thing - that it was possible to summon things of a higher level than yourself from the summoning tab. He would have to be careful when going through it, in order not to summon something which could kill him - after all, the tree which could be summoned with the qi a Nascent Soul Realm cultivator possessed required an Origin Soul Realm cultivation just to withstand it's pressure.

'Okay... I have enough of the Nascent Soul Realm plants.' glancing warily on the rest of the catalogue labelled 'Nascent Soul', he changed the organization to go from the lowest cost plants up. Instantly, the catalogue switched and he could see a huge amount of plants, some which he recognized, and some which he didn't. What they all had in common, however, was that they were labelled 'Mortal'. He assumed it was because these were plants which didn't have any qi, since that's what mortals were.

Meng Li even managed to recognize some plants from earth - what they all had in common was that they were the only ones with latin names - the other plants were all named like stereotypical plants from a cultivation world - 'Nine Leaf Grass', 'Starry Leafed Oak', 'Nine Treasures Ginseng'. Despite the cool sounding names though, according to the summoning tab all of these didn't contain any qi apart from what normally was diffused into matter.

Deciding to try it out and summon something, Meng Li chose a plant at random. What he ultimately picked was something which he saw before, the 'Starry Leafed Oak'. The amount of qi which was needed to summon it was extremely small - even the tiny strand he first absorbed would be enough to summon at least five of these Oak saplings. Yes, it was a sapling - there was an option to summon the entire tree, but Meng Li decided against it since from the description, the Oak could grow up to about 15 meters, and he didn't really want to risk having an entire 15 meter Oak summoned on top of his head or something like that.

So, Meng Li tried saying the command in his consciousness 'summon', while concentrating on the Oak. Nothing happened. Perplexed, as until now most of the things he wanted to do only required saying so in his consciousness, he sat down. Then, he had an epiphany.

'I have to summon it, and it requires qi, right? So I just need to give it qi!'

Excited, Meng Li controlled a small amount of qi and tried to bring it into his consciousness. Surprisingly, it worked. Next, he tried controlling the strand to enter the image of the Starry Leafed Oak. It entered, and the qi disappeared. Excited, Meng Li commanded the entire strand of qi to enter the Starry Leafed Oak's image. When the entire strand of qi entered, he was satisfied and opened his eyes. What greeted him was the previously empty white room, now filled to the brim with oak saplings. There had to be at least several thousand of them, because they covered the entire floor in a blanket of at least 10 centimetres in every place. But, the real surprise was in the centre of the room - there, practically touching the ceiling, was a mountain made from sapling. It seemed like that was the location which the sapling were summoned to...

"What am I supposed to do with all of these?!" Meng Li couldn't help but shout, exasperated.
