Finding Stardust

219 Commotion At The Chapel

"Prince Licht," Queen Ygrit frowned and rebuked Therius loudly. "What are you doing?"

Therius turned and faced King Cassius. His expression was flat as he bowed slightly and apologized to his grandfather.

"Your Majesty, I'm sorry, I can't do it. I agreed to marry Princess Yldwyn, but I never gave my consent to do it at the same time as Princess Emma.?I cannot accept a double wedding like this," Therius said politely.

Emma and Yldwyn looked equally surprised at Therius's stern words. Meanwhile, Queen Ygrit held her breath.

"Prince Licht! I will not allow you to marry Emma Stardust unless you fulfill your promise to marry Princess Yldwyn," said King Cassius loudly. He looked offended. "The last thing we want is the Akkadian throne under a Thaesi princess's grip."

"Then there won't be a wedding today," said Therius. He looked up and stared at Emma deeply.

The girl was stunned by Therius' unexpected words. Why did Therius make such a last-minute decision?

Didn't he want to be king?

Xion, who was standing behind them, also couldn't believe his hearing.

Why was Therius willing to cancel his wedding to Emma Stardust? Didn't he really want to marry that girl?

Tears slowly streamed down Yldwyn's cheeks when she heard such strong words of rejection from the man she had considered her future husband for ten years.

How could Prince Licht do this to her?

Queen Ygrit narrowed her eyes angrily and immediately shouted.

"Guards! Arrest Emma Stardust right now! It is now evident that she has controlled Prince Licht's mind with telemancy! She is a telemancer just like her wretched mother!"

King Cassius' six bodyguards immediately moved to catch Emma, ??but Therius quickly moved to protect her.

"Watch out if you dare come closer!" he snapped at the six mages. The prince then looked at Queen Ygrit with a sharp gaze. "Grandma, what were you saying? Emma doesn't control me with telemancy!"

Queen Ygrit stared back at Therius with her hands akimbo.

"You've changed a lot since you came back from your mission to bring Emma back. I was already suspecting that Emma has been controlling you with telemancy because she is a telemancer just like her mother. We have evidence she is a telemancer during the commotion in Daneria! There is no denying it!"

She then turned to King Cassius. "Your Majesty, now my words have been proven. You can no longer forgive this traitor! She has bewitched Prince Licht to disobey you. We must keep Prince Licht away from this little witch so that he can recover!"

Therius froze at his grandmother's words. He realized that during the commotion at the Daneria Base, he knocked everyone out of the hall using telemancy.

At that time, it was Emma who pretended to control those people because they wanted to hide the fact that Therius was a telemancer.

Back then, Therius wanted to use Emma's reputation as a multiple-element mage like her mother to win the hearts of the Akkadian people. He wanted people to think Emma was the Princess That Was Promised as well, to support her to be the future queen.

However, this had now turned against them.

"Your Majesty, there is a misunderstanding, Emma didn't control my mind at all!" cried Therius as he covered Emma's body from the sight of the six mages who were getting ready to arrest the girl.

"Are you going to argue that Emma is a telemancer?!" asked King Cassius angrily. He was now reminded of the incident when Arreya charmed everyone in the palace to sleep with telemancy so that she could elope with Kaoshin.

"Emma had a lot of powers, but she is only a level three mage. She won't be able to control my mind. Grandpa, please don't let yourself be blinded by grudges!" said Therius.

"There's no way a level three mage can beat Mayn, Heron's bodyguard," snapped Queen Ygrit. "You must be protecting her because you have been charmed by her... Joren! Hurry and catch this witch!"

Therius's chest was pounding when he heard Queen Ygrit's words.

Finally, there really was no other choice. He must admit to being the telemancer that beat Mayn so he could acquit Emma of the charges.

"Your Majesty, you are wrong. Emma couldn't possibly control me with telemancy. She is just a level 3 mage. It wasn't Emma who defeated Mayn, but—" Therius's words were interrupted as Emma waved her hand and suddenly Yldwyn turned around and slapped Queen Ygrit with all her mind.

SLAP!

"Yldwyn! What are you doing?" exclaimed Queen Ygrit, holding her flushed cheek.

A very surprised Ydlwyn immediately pulled her hand and pressed it to her chest. Her face paled and she shook her head incessantly

"No... it's—it's not me, Your Majesty ... Please, I would never do that ..."

SLAP!

Yldwyn raised another hand and slapped Queen Ygrit one more time. This time, Joren quickly grabbed the princess and pulled her aside.

"Your Majesty ... Princess Yldwyn is controlled by a telemancer!" exclaimed the middle-aged man in a firm voice.

Queen Ygrit, King Cassius, and everyone's eyes were now glued to Emma, ??who folded her arms across her chest.

"You...!" Queen Ygrit waved her hand about to slap Emma Stardust with fury, but instead she only slapped herself. The Queen became so furious and then screamed with all her might. "Catch that little witch!!! If Prince Licht tried to protect her, arrest him too!!"

'I will let them catch me to clear you from their suspicion. After they take me away, you must fulfill your promise to me and kill the king. Once you ascend the throne, you can set me free.' Emma gave Therius a glance before she turned and dashed toward the chapel door.

"Emma!!" Therius was shocked to see Emma's unexpected action.

He was about to dash after her but the door to the chapel was suddenly closed by a very strong wind with a loud bang. Asva the aeromancer had quickly blocked Emma from escaping through the door using aeromancy.

Emma's movements stopped in midair, and she turned around. Joren and Lora simultaneously attacked the girl with lightning bolts and fireballs.

"Whoever kills Emma Stardust will die in my hands!!" Therius shouted angrily.

However, it was too late for Joren and Lora to retract their attacks. Emma quickly raised her palms to block the two mages' attacks. Her left hand prepared to hold the lightning bolts, and her right hand received the fireballs.

"Aahhh!!!"

Half a second before the two attacks hit Emma, ??Xion suddenly appeared in front of her and blocked both blows from Joren and Lora with his two giant hands made of air.

"Xion!" Emma exclaimed breathlessly. Xion was pushed back a little. Both his hands turned red from holding back the high-level attacks of the level-ten electromancer and pyromancer. However, his face remained calm.

Therius' heart skipped a beat when he thought Emma would be killed by the attacks of the two royal guards. Xion's action made him breathe a sigh of relief. The man hurriedly ran after Emma and stood with Xion blocking her body from view.

'We won't win if we fight them openly. Let them arrest me,' said Emma to Therius and Xion using telemancy. 'Remember, it's okay to take a step back to move five steps forward.'

'I'm afraid they will kill you. I won't allow that,' Therius replied stubbornly.

'They won't kill me,' replied Emma. She moved to push the shoulders of the two young men and opened the way for her to walk forward. Her face was filled with hatred.

"I am a telemancer, I admit it," said Emma loudly. "But you can't kill me. I am carrying Prince Licht's child!"

Everyone in the chapel gasped in unison. Therius and Xion widened their eyes and turned towards Emma at the same time. King Cassius held his breath, Queen Ygrit was stunned, and Yldwyn pressed her lips with surprise.

'You ... you, cunning witch! You are very wicked! You intentionally get yourself pregnant to escape punishment!" Queen Ygrit was quickly moved from her shock.

She strode to approach Emma. Her face was filled with contempt. When she raised her hand to slap Emma, the roaring voice of the King stopped her in her tracks.

"STOP IT!"

'They will not kill me,' said Emma again to Therius and Xion.

Therius held his breath when he heard Emma talked to him using telemancy.

This girl was very cunning and quick-witted, he thought. Emma pretended to be pregnant to buy them time. She knew they would not win against the six mages if they wanted to fight openly.

Now that she had done her part, Therius must do his. He must divert their suspicions, then quietly kill the king. He must do it quickly and release Emma before the queen did anything to harm her.
