Finding Stardust

224 I Would Be Such A Useless Husband If I Couldnt Protect Her

Emma must be so mad at me right now, Therius muttered inwardly. She probably wanted him to kill King Cassius immediately. However, it's been one day and the king didn't look like he was about to die very soon.

"Ugh, there is no need to rush, right, Grandfather? What is the use of getting the information about whether that woman is really pregnant today or tomorrow? Let her be. She would lower her guard, and you can examine her condition. If she was really pregnant with my child, I don't want any harm to the baby. Sleeping gas or any other invasive gas is bad for her health." Therius tried to reason with the Akkadian's monarchs.

Queen Ygrit squinted her eyes in disgust. "Did you really sleep with that wench under her control?"

Therius shrugged nonchalantly. "I don't know. I don't remember. However, I am not a saint. If she wanted to sleep with me, I probably did it."

Queen Ygrit was really annoyed to hear that. She hated the idea of having a great-grandchild from the wicked vixen who had bewitched her grandson to the point of almost betraying his country.

"Even if she did bear your child, that child would not be your heir. Only the son of the rightful queen will become the crown prince, the heir to the Akkadian throne," said Queen Ygrit firmly.

She glanced at Princess Yldwyn who was sitting beside her. The Terren princess lowered her face when she heard Queen Ygrit's words. The queen was openly hinting that Therius must marry Yldwyn and only his son from Yldwyn would be his heir.

"Grandma is right, "said Therius, nodding. He decided it would be easier to agree to his grandmother this time. "However, if that woman is really pregnant with my child, I don't want anything to happen to my kid. He is my flesh and blood, after all. So, please, wait till I get home before we confirm everything. Let me punish her for what she did to me. I have to defend my honor. If you hold a grudge against her parents, I hold a grudge against her. Please don't interfere in my business with that little witch."

Finally, King Cassius nodded. " Very well. I'll let you take care of the girl yourself."

"Thank you, Grandfather." Therius felt very relieved. As long as he could get assurance from King Cassius that they wouldn't do anything to Emma while he went away, he could believe that Emma would be okay. After all, his grandfather was still the king. His words were the law.

The man finally excused himself and left the king's study. He was relieved as he saw Joren and Lora escort him out of the palace and take him to travs to return to his own residence.

"Please free my friend and my guards," said Therius. "I need them to be with me."

"They will soon follow Your Highness to your palace. We will escort them," said Joren respectfully.

"Hm ... thank you, Joren, "said Therius.

He immediately boarded the travs and headed for his palace. It felt so relieved when he arrived home and could use his magic again.

The man moved his hand and created fire. Ah... he hated the royal palace for their anti-magic shield.

Therius was determined that when he became king, he would not use the anti-magic shield in the royal palace. He did not want to be confined, and he was not afraid of anyone.

He was not his grandfather, who did not have any magical powers and only relied on his formidable bodyguards.?If anyone dared to mess around at the royal palace, Therius would be able to defend himself.

Emma was also, fortunately, not a weak girl. Right now, Therius really couldn't imagine if he had to marry Yldwyn. That girl had no magical powers whatsoever. If he married her, Therius must always be concerned about her safety.

Even Emma, who had a lot of powers, was not immune from attacks and problems. He could imagine Yldwyn would give him so much trouble just to protect her. Weak girls are a pain in the neck.

That's why Therius like strong women. Emma was perfect for him. At the moment, she was only a Lvl-3 mage, but she had so much potential. She had many powers, and if she learned from the best teachers, she would be able to rise into a Lvl-10 mage. Therius was determined to help Emma become stronger and able to protect herself.

Later, after he ascended the throne and they got married, Therius would send Emma to study at the academy. The girl needed to learn how she could control her powers and become a formidable multiple-element mage like him and Xion.

Akkadia would be proud to have Emma Stardust as their queen. Therius would make them think she was The Princess That Was Promised.

Therius hurriedly took a shower and changed his clothes. He must prepare to contact General Moria. He must know the latest developments and what to do.

"Your Highness!"

Therius looked up and saw the arrival of Avato, his loyal aide, along with his other bodyguards. Xion seemed to be walking with lazy steps behind them.

"Have you been released? Did they treat you badly?" asked Therius. "I need your help."

"They treated us well, Sir. It looks like His Majesty just wanted to make sure we are all separated from Princess Emma," Avato replied, comforting Therius. "What do you want us to do, Your Highness? We are ready to do it."

"You must find out why our people at the palace could not give us the proper intel and informed tell me that my grandmother was coming to the chapel to force me to marry Yldwyn," Therius said. He was still upset when he remembered that someone could have compromised this important information. "They got the upper hand yesterday and my grandmother gave me so many problems."

Avato took a deep breath. His face suddenly looked sad.?"I'm sorry, Sir. We found out too late. The spies we sent to the king's palace had been killed by the queen. We only found out about it from the king's guards when we were detained. It seems that the Queen has long suspected that you were controlled by Princess Emma, ??so she carried out a cleanup in the palace and found our spies."

Therius clenched his fists in great anger. He knew that his grandmother really hated Emma and her family, but he did not think that his own grandmother would be able to do such a cruel thing. She was really blinded by her grudge.

"All right, you guys get ready. We will meet General Moria and go to Taeshi," said Therius finally. "The king ordered me to carry out a mission."

"Yes, Your Highness." Avato and his friends bowed respectfully and then took their leave. After his guards left, Therius immediately hugged Xion and gave him a grateful pat on the shoulder.

"Xion! Thank you for your help yesterday. I can't imagine what would happen to Emma if you weren't around."

Xion just nodded and patted Therius on the shoulder too. After the two of them broke free, Xion asked Therius the question that had been bothering him since yesterday.

"Regarding Emma ... is she really ...?" Xion hesitated to continue her question. "Have you two... done it?"

Therius knew what Xion's question meant. He shook his head. "Not yet. But we'll do it soon. I think it would be good for Emma to get pregnant as soon as possible to keep her safe in Akkadia."

Xion swallowed hard when he heard Therius' answer. "I see ..."

"I'm just kidding, Xion," blurted Therius as he patted his friend's shoulder. "Emma is still mourning. I can't force her to get pregnant just to save her life. I would be such a useless husband if I can't protect her that she had to resort to such a measure."

Xion looked relieved to hear that. He was actually surprised to hear Therius could even joke about their situation at a time like this, but he didn't voice his opinion. The man only nodded. "I thought so too. If Emma had to really get pregnant to save herself, I would feel very incompetent as a friend."

"Exactly." Therius nodded. "I managed to buy us some more time. They won't bother Emma in the meantime, ??but now I am tasked with a mission to bring Princess Arreya to Akkadia, dead or alive. I believe my grandmother will only be satisfied when Princess Arreya dies."

Xion held his breath when he heard Therius' words. "So? You're going to kill Emma's mother?"
