269 The Mage Academy 2
When finally the gray train they were riding in stopped at a small station that reads "Mage Academy", Emma and Therius got out of the train. It seemed the passengers disembarking at this station were all the academy students, either those who had just started their first year or returning after a long holiday.
Emma had heard a lot from Therius about the Mage Academy, but still, when she got there, she was still impressed. She heard that all students would go to school for eight months and get 3 months off at the end of the year and one month in the middle of the year.
This was to give students who came from far away places, or even from other kingdoms, the opportunity to go home and spend time with their families.
In the past, usually on every holiday, Therius would spend it with Xion because he didn't like Queen Ygrit's harsh upbringing in the palace. He preferred to go to the mountains to visit Xion's home, or visit the Aguilar Wilderness and train his powers there.
Because he and Xion practiced diligently there, their energy levels quickly went up. Once they graduated at the age of 21, these two young men were already at level seven. None of the people in their batch had surpassed level five.
"Later, you will get a free day once a week. Students can use it to explore the area around Innstad or Merridell," said Therius. "During the first few weeks, you should try to make friends and join your schoolmates to explore. Later, when you get used to the area around here and have friends, we can start meeting at Innstad and spend the weekend together."
Emma nodded. In fact, she doubted she would make friends right away. She was not an open and warm person. In the past, she had friends at school because Haoran approached her first. The young man also introduced her to his four best friends, who later became Emma's friends.
On planet Akkadia, it seemed like it would take a long time for her to meet the right people and then make friends with them. At the moment, you could say that Therius was her only friend.
"You will find people who connect with you and you can be good friends," said Therius, who seemed to read Emma's mind. He had seen the girl looking restless. He was reminded of himself, who used to be very much like Emma.
Therius was also a quiet and cold person. He did not think he would be able to make friends when he entered the Academy. However, Xion came into his life, and they became best friends for over ten years.
He was sure that Emma will also find her own Xion.
Ah ... he let out a deep sigh when he remembered his school days at the Academy, and how he and Xion made a lot of commotion.
Therius took Emma's hand and led her out of the station, up the hill. His right hand held Emma's bag, containing his wife's personal belongings.
From the small station, there were several dozen young people who got off the same train as them and then continued their journey on foot up the hill. Apparently, the Mage Academy campus was located at the top of the hill.
"We can fly up the hill, or walk. Whatever you like," said Therius.
Emma looked around and noticed that most of the new students or people around them chose to walk. Therefore, she grabbed Therius' hand to walk following them.
"We'd better not attract attention," said Emma. "After all, here I'm going to claim to be a herbomancer. I am not supposed to be able to fly."
"Very well, if that's what you want," Therius replied. They then walked hand in hand to the top of the hill.
Emma didn't regret her decision, because the trek to the top of the hill had been a lot of fun. The air was so fresh and the scenery on their left and right was also filled with green and healthy-looking plants. Really very refreshing to the eyes.
After a leisurely walk for half an hour, they finally arrived at an enormous gate. Above the gate, were written in gold letters AKKADIAN MAGE ACADEMY.
During the three years studying at the Academy, all students would study together in a public class for the first year. Then, they would explore specific majors according to their respective elements and interests.
Later, in their second year, they would start to learn more specific things related to their powers. In general classes, students would learn various things related to the Planet Akkadia and also all the elements that existed in the universe.
This was so that they could recognize the powers they had and other people's powers, both those who shared the same element as them and those from different elements.
This was important to understand how they could cooperate with people who have different powers from them.
In addition, they also needed to know about other powers' characteristics so that if they had to face an enemy in battle or war, they could recognize the opponent's powers and understood how to deal with them.
Later, in their second year, they will begin to take specific classes. Every student who had powers from the same element would get a variety of education and training according to their abilities and type of element.
"Welcome to the Academy," a tall, beautiful lady in very formal attire received Emma and Therius at the door of the main building. She was smiling broadly when she recognized Therius. "Hello, Therius. You came to take your sister?"
The woman turned to Emma, ??who looked very much like Therius, then turned back to the man.
Therius coughed softly at the woman's words. He shook his head and then possessively embraced Emma's waist to show his ownership of the girl.
"No, Mrs. Atena. This is my fiancee. Her name is Lee Wolfland."
The woman, called Mrs. Atena, stared at Emma closely, and then turned her gaze to Therius. A moment later, her face turned bright and radiant.
Unfortunately, Emma couldn't read this woman's mind. She really wanted to know what made Mrs. Atena's face look so happy to see them. Did she feel happy because she liked Emma and Therius, or was there something else?
Emma guessed that Mrs. Atena was a mage, several levels higher than her, so she couldn't read her mind.
The girl then turned to Therius and asked him, using telemancy. 'Why is she acting like that? Is there something strange about us? '
Therius answered briefly. 'Avena.'
'Oh ...' Then it hit Emma. Apparently, Avena couples were very rare in Akkadia. Avena couple was what people call a man and a woman who had similar appearances and were in a relationship or married. So that every time people meet such a couple, they would be impressed.
"You are one of the lucky few, Therius," said Mrs. Atena with an amazed expression. "I did not expect that you have an Avena partner. Really very lucky. I hope your relationship will last and you are always happy."
"Thank you," said Therius. He and Emma deliberately kept Emma's marital status a secret at the Academy. The only one who knew the fact was the Academy dean. He was also the only person who knew Emma's real identity as the queen of Akkadia.
The other teachers and everyone at the Academy only knew that Emma was a new student from a commoner family, named Lee Wolfland, and she was not married. Therius and Emma deliberately kept this a secret because they didn't want Emma to be treated differently by her school mates.
They also wanted to avoid Emma from being stigmatized. If Emma's schoolmates at the Academy found out that the girl was married at such a young age, they would look down on her.
"Heyy.. I remember you always hanging around with that blond boy," Mrs. Atena suddenly chirped. She narrowed her eyes at Therius and tried to remember the other student's name. "Xion Draconi. Where is he? Are you still close? How is he doing now?"
Therius pretended not to hear the question. He nodded toward Mrs. Atena and took Emma by the hand, to enter the main building.
"Have a good day, Ma'am," he said politely.
Emma understood that Therius was not in the mood to talk about Xion.
