Finding Stardust

99 Allan Felt Defeated

"Do you want to have dinner?" Haoran whispered as he loosened his hug from Emma's body. "We only had lunch with mother today. Aren't you hungry?"

"Hmmm ... I am hungry," Emma said.

It's 7 pm, and Emma didn't want to go to sleep on an empty stomach. Especially after their strenuous activity just now. She felt like she could eat a horse!

"Hmm ... okay, I'll order food for us," Haoran said. He took the phone at the bedside table and contacted the operator to order dinner. "I'll get you your favorites dishes."

"Thank you," Emma smiled and kissed him.

She then got out of bed and walked into the bathroom. She cleaned herself up and returned to the room with a warm, wet towel. She gave Haoran the towel so that her husband could clean up too while she was wearing her robe.

Haoran then joined Emma on the terrace and stared at the view of the city below them. Shanghai looked bustling with sparkling lights from the hundreds of skyscrapers around them. The atmosphere in this city felt futuristic, like Singapore.

He hugged Emma's waist and buried his head in her shoulder.

"I thought Singapore is already so advanced and futuristic ... I can't imagine what Akkadia is like," he whispered in Emma's ear. "That place must be amazing."

Actually, Emma was also thinking the same thing. Soon they would leave the earth and go to Akkadia. It was a foreign place, completely unimaginable to her as well.

She knew that technology in Akkadia was already far superior to earth, considering that the people there had been able to travel in space at such high speed. But at the same time, some people there also had magical powers.

She knew from her mother that only a few people possessed powers like Arreya and Kaoshin where they could control the elements. Even fewer are multiple-element mages who could control more than one element.

That way, Emma could assume that Haoran would be fine in Akkadia because most of the people there were just like him. Moreover, Haoran had high intelligence and even higher EQ. He was also quick-witted.

His problem would only be the language barrier. However, one day, he would be able to overcome it by learning the language. It's really not too big of a problem since he had Emma with him and Emma could speak Akkadian.

Emma could not yet predict what would happen if the Akkadians knew that she had multiple powers and inherited all her parents' abilities. She knew she was special. However, she would not necessarily tell them that she had the powers. She would see how they treat her first.

They decided to eat on the terrace of their room while enjoying the amazing night views of Shanghai. Emma surrounded their bodies with hot air so that they would not feel cold from the spring breeze in Shanghai.

After they finished dinner, Emma and Haoran decided to watch a movie and relax, before then going to bed.

***

After three days in Shanghai, Haoran and Emma finally had to return to Singapore. They had been skipping school for almost ten days. Soon, they would have to prepare themselves for the university entrance exam. Even though they might leave earth in one year, they must not attract suspicions by quitting school altogether.

They stopped by Haoran's mother's house before leaving for the airport and taking an afternoon flight to Singapore. They wanted to say goodbye.

"Later, when I have the chance, I'll visit you again, Mother," Haoran said. He could not hold back his tears from forming in the corners of his eyes. His mother nodded softly and wipe his eyes dan kissed his cheeks.

"Take care of yourself and Emma. I will pray for your happiness," she whispered to his ear and hugged him tightly. "We will meet again."

Gosh ... he really wanted to bring his mother to Singapore. But unfortunately, he couldn't do it. Besides ... if his mother went with him and then Haoran and Emma had to suddenly go to Akkadia ... he could imagine how his mother would feel very sad.

Of course, he would try to return to Shanghai and visit his mother in the coming year. But somehow, suddenly, Haoran was overwhelmed by a horrible feeling that made him very sad.

It was like a bad premonition. He felt that his meeting with his mother today was actually a farewell.

Haoran was quiet and thought a lot on the way to Singapore. Emma, ??who suspected Haoran was sad because he had to leave his mother behind, could only hold his hand and try to make him feel that she was there and understood how he was feeling.

"Emma ... it's the weekend. Do you want to stay at my house?" Haoran asked as they walked out of the plane toward the lounge to pick up their suitcases. "Grandma Lin doesn't know you are back today, right?"

Emma nodded. "Okay."

"I will take you to Grandma Lin's apartment on Sunday evening. I will also explain to her that we are already married, and I will ask her to understand that you will sometimes stay at my place, especially on weekends."

Emma's steps stopped when she heard Haoran's words, and she looked at her husband with round eyes. "Uhm ... who else do we tell about it?"

"Only Grandma Lin, because she is your 'family' in Singapore. She will definitely be confused if you often sleepover at my place. I don't want her to think you're a bad girl that sleeps with her boyfriend," Haoran explained. "What do you think?"

"Oh." Emma then nodded. "That's true."

"Later, we can also let the boys know, when the time is right," Haoran said again. "Not now. I don't want them to think we are setting a bad example by getting married at such a young age. They don't understand our situation. After all, they will be curious to know why we seem so desperate to get married in such a hurry."

"You're right. I agree," said Emma. She resumed her steps, and Haoran immediately grabbed her hand as they walked together.

Along the way, both of them caught the attention of many people. Even though Emma and Haoran were wearing casual and simple clothes, the physical appearance of the two was still so pleasing to the eyes, making people stare at them with admiration. People especially loved seeing the intimacy shown by both of them.

In front of Terminal 1, Haoran's family driver was already waiting for them. He brought their suitcases and put them in the trunk. The young couple waited patiently until the driver opened the doors and both of them entered.

They entered through different doors and immediately sat in the back seat and buckled their seatbelts. Emma did not realize that Allan, who had just landed in Singapore after a vacation to Thailand with his family to celebrate his mother's birthday, saw her getting into the luxury car.

Allan stood dumbfounded and looked at the car carrying Emma with a frown in his face. He was helping his mother getting their luggage in their car when he caught sight of the girl. He didn't expect to meet her at the airport.

This was the girl he liked since last year, but Emma rejected his feelings. Apparently, Emma already had a boyfriend. That was why Allan then turned his feelings to Bianca and made her his girlfriend.

As it turned out, even after one year, Allan still had feelings for Emma. Just by looking at her for a moment could make his chest tremble. Ahh ... it's a shame Emma already had a boyfriend.

Judging from his car, it seemed like Emma's boyfriend was from a wealthy family. One time, he came to pick up Emma on the NTU campus in the latest Porsche, and now he got into a very luxurious car with Emma.

Ahh, it's a shame Allan didn't get to see his face because he got in the car from the door opposite from Emma.

He wanted to know what kind of man managed to become Emma's boyfriend. Usually, men who only relied on their family wealth have other flaws. Maybe the man was ugly ... or at least not as smart as Allan.

Ugh ... this thought suddenly made him very upset. If only he met Emma first, surely he would be able to captivate Emma with his good looks and intelligence. He had absolutely no flaws. His family was highly respected. His father was a director in one of the largest corporate groups in Asia.

"Er ... isn't that Chairman Lee's car?" Suddenly his father murmured as he followed Allan's gaze. The luxury car had driven away gracefully, but he still recognized the distinctive license plate. His boss, Mr. Lee, the owner of Lee Industries, always used the LX mark on each of his cars.

There's no mistaking it, surely the car that just drove away was one of the Lee family's.

"What did you say? Chairman Lee's car?" Allan looked at his father with a frown. "You're not mistaken, Dad?"

"I'm not mistaken. I recognize the license plate. As far as I know, Mr. Lee has returned from Switzerland a week ago and is busy attending many meetings in Singapore. So it can't be him." Allan's father shook his head. "Maybe that's his son."

Instantly, Allan's chest felt like being crushed by a heavy object.

Mr. Lee's son, from Lee Industries?

Ugh ... although the young man might be ugly and stupid ... his family's wealth was enough to cover all his shortcomings.

Allan finally felt defeated. He could not possibly win from the son of the owner of the company group where his father worked.
