40 How is she? part 1
He stood in front one of the buildings watching the guardian core do their job. Snow was there fighting alongside her comrades. The demon fell down, looking dead, but their types are usually the sneaky ones.
He was right, the monster lifted his head and used his hands to shoot lava at one of the girls.
He heard Snow scream the girls name. It seems she is very close to this girl Yuna. Yuna looks scared and just before the lava hits her, she is enveloped with a light, maybe an invisible shield, but he couldn't be sure, but it still seems too late as the lava hits Yuna and sends her flying backwards.
In seconds Snow is at her knees in front of Yuna, tears streaming down her face. He looked away. He didn't want to see Snow cry, it makes him uncomfortable.
Instead he looked in the direction of the demon, eyes blazing. He hated every one of them. All they do is kill, and today was just another example of that.
He took out his own dagger and in a flash he was on the monster. He would have to work fast, otherwise someone might see him and it would only cause unnecessary suspicion. In a swift move he cut the demons throat, and disappears before anyone can see him.
Still hiding in the shadows he saw Snow passing by with tears stained on her face, he sighed before coming out of the shadows.
...
Snow didn't have to turn around to know who it was.
"Nate, what are you doing here?" She asked ignoring his comment.
"What, I wanted to know what all the fuss was about." He shrugged before falling into step next to her.
Snow hugged herself, feeling a little chilly from the slight breeze passing through.
She saw the carriage that Noctis send for her. He is so kind, she can't help but fall further for him.
"Earth to Snow."
"What?"
"You heard me."
Snow realised he was talking to her, then her eyes widened, because he was holding the carriage door open for her.
"Sorry, I wasn't... listening." Snow was distracted with the way Nate's leather jacket clung on his body, revealing some of the muscles he had, but she quickly looked away before he could get any funny ideas, blushing a light red.
Nate noticed it and a smirk began to form on his lips.
"So I've noticed."
Snow only rolled her eyes and stepped into the carriage, to her surprise Nate stepped in after her.
She didn't think a guy like him actually had manners, or that he would step in after her into the carriage.
"What are you doing?"
"Sitting in the carriage, obviously."
"I can see that." She snapped.
"Then why are you asking? I thought you were supposed to be smart." Nate snickered.
Snow's blood is boiling, she is very irritated right now, and her on coming headache is only adding petrol to the fire.
He was the one who came to her, walked with her to the carriage, and then stepped into it along with her.
"If you're only here to irritate me, I suggest you leave, because I'm not in the mood for an argument, especially with you." Her voice was like venom from a snake, but it didn't move Nate at all.
"As much as I like to bicker with you, no, that's not why I'm here."
His words caught Snow off guard.
"Then why are you here?"
"I don't know, I guess you needed company."
Snow almost laughed.
"You're kidding me right, I needed company."
"You were the one who was crying, not me."
Snow laughed, before turning serious.
"Get out."
The door opened again and the coachman's head appeared.
He was an old man with hair at the sides of his head making his head in the middle bald. He wore a suit with the crown city's crest on his right pocket.
"Miss, sorry to let you wait so long, are you ready to depart for the hospital?"
Snow wanted to say no so that Nate could get out, but he interrupted her.
"Yes, we have waited long enough, thank you very much."
All of his manners long forgotten it seems, Snow thought. The coachman looked toward Snow for conformation that they could leave. She only nodded because she knew Nate would never get out and she doesn't want to fight either.
The coachman nodded before closing the door. Just after a few seconds the carriage jolted into moving.
"You would really fit in with the rich people just fine with your manners." Snow deadpanned.
"I know right, that makes one wonder why I'm not rich yet, or maybe I am, and you just don't know that."
"Right, yeah, you're definitely not bluffing." Snow rolled her eyes, but a small smile still maneged to appear on her face.
Nate only smirked, not saying anything. Snow rested her head against the window. It's the first time they actually talked without bickering.
The ride went on in silence, each one in their own thoughts.
The carriage stopped and the coachman opened the door. Snow got out and Nate followed. They made their way to the front desk, Snow asked the receptionist if they brought Yuna in yet, only to be told to take a seat as they are still busy with her.
"She has some very bad wounds, and it will take a while before you could see her." She told Snow.
Snow only nodded and went to take a seat. She could feel the tears threatening to escape her eyes. She can't understand why her barrier didn't protect her friend.
She felt Nate's presence next to her, but chose to ignore him. She was propped up with her elbows on her knees and rested her head in her hands.
A voice broke her away from her thoughts surprising her about the gentleness it held.
"Are you okay?"
Snow sat up and rested her back against the seat, turning her head towards Nate.
"Well, I'm as okay as I can be I guess."
Nate nodded, not saying anything. Snow appreciated the silence, because she didn't feel like talking.
It felt like as if hours went by, and at one point Snow fell asleep on Nate's shoulder.
He didn't seem to mind, because he knew she was tired. He could see that she was in and out of it in the carriage. It took them a lot longer to get there because of the damage that was delt in the attack, but they still made it in record time.
The doctors was still busy with Snow's friend. If he could guess, they are best friends, because it seems that they care an awful lot for each other.
Nate looked down at the sleeping Snow. She really is something else. She's easy to talk to and is interesting in different ways. It's actually nice to have a girl who doesn't throw herself at you, but it's also strange.
Nate has to resist the urge to lay his head on top of the girl's, because that would just be inappropriate, and what if other people sees them, then her reputation will be ruined.
Nate smiles, hell, his reputation would be ruined if someone he knows would see him with a girl.
His thoughts was broken when someone came to stand in his view. When he looked up, it was one of the doctors.
Nate gently shook Snow, because he knew that she would want to hear this.
When she opened her eyes, it was first full of confusion, then when she saw that she was sleeping on his shoulder her eyes flew open and she sat up straighter than before. Her cheeks was flushed a bright red, before she met the doctor's eyes.
Nate took a lock that came loose, and tucked it behind her ear from the side.
"You okay?"
Snow only nodded and looked up at the doctor.
When she spoke, it was evident that she just woke up.
"How is she doctor?"
The doctor shifted from one foot to the other, Nate could see he was debating on how to tell Snow the news.
"She's......."
