26 How To Be A Summoner
"Vrudius, why do I feel like I'm making this more complicated than it is?", I asked.
"It's because you're indecisive about what to make, Master Jordan. I think you're overthinking the process", Vrudius said.
Vrudius was right. The summoning system itself wasn't too complicated. It was integrated with the Dungeon's System so I could source the components straight from the Dungeon's storage. After collecting a certain amount of components, you had the ability to either recreate the mob or combine it with another. You also had the ability to customize multiple aspects of the summon with the Summoning Interface. You could summon and create creatures in three distinct ways:
--------------------------------------------------------------
1. Manual Summoning
[If you like the more traditional way of summoning, you can manually draw the summoning circle and place the components. It can have certain benefits in the right situation.]
2. Summoning From The HUD
[The most popular and preferred method of summoning by Orune's Dungeon Masters. Whether you are on the front lines defending your Dungeon or exploring Orune for components, this way of summoning is considered the best. Your arms are inserted into 3 magic circles each and give you the ability to summon and create anywhere in Orune.]
3. Summoning From The Dungeon's Interface
[If you are creating bulk creatures for the Dungeon, wishing to customize the creatures more, or just prefer the Dungeon's interface; this method will suit your needs the best. It's also quicker than the other two but restricted to only being available in the Dungeon's Effective Area.]
--------------------------------------------------------------
Since Dungeon Masters have high mana, the most important thing we have to manage is fatigue. Depending on your DM and DL, the amount of fatigue that is generated from your abilities is higher or lower. For example, if I tried to summon an S rank beast, I probably wouldn't make it through the summoning without passing out. On the other hand, if I were to summon multiple C+ beasts, the only limit I would have is how many components I own. This is how Hidarus regulates and establishes fairness amongst the Dungeons in Orune. Essentially, if you want bigger toys, you have to work for it.
"Hey, Jordan! What are you guys talking about? You seem focused!", Orai said happily.
Orai instantly teleported to the Core Room and seemed to be in a good mood at first glance. As she walked over to us, it became even more apparent.
"What has you in such a good mood, Dungeon Core Orai?", Vrudius said curiously.
"I not only convinced the adventurers to leave the Dungeon but I also got them to trust us! Jordan and I should be able to maintain our cover as adventurers if Miller tries to tell the townspeople. If we ever need to travel to Ravenscar, we shouldn't have any issues!", Orai said proudly.
"That's good. I forgot about that sack of shit Miller already. If we survive this challenge, we need to beef up the Dungeon's Defense with any DP we earn. While the Dungeon's classification is B+, that's only because of our member's ranks. It's more accurate to say that the Dungeon's True Classification is C+", I said confidently.
"That's true. We need to invest our DP into getting more mobs. We could always place any extra mobs outside in the Effective Area. Judging from the magic circles on your arms, I'm guessing you're attempting your first summoning?", Orai asked.
I quickly nodded. I was currently adorned with a total of 6 blue magic circles on my arms. I was an intelligent person in my previous world so confusion with the system wasn't the problem. The problem was that I wasn't sure what I wanted to make! You could say that I was crippled by the overwhelming amount of opportunity. However, I remembered that the Summoner Class had an ability that no other class could do: The ability to edit an already existing mob.
"Since Obsidian is already domesticated, I might as well make him stronger. I'll have the Dungeon teleport him here. Hopefully, he's not in the middle of anything important", I stated.
After navigating to the Mob Menu of the Dungeon, I put in a teleportation request for Obsidian. The Dungeon quickly began the process of phasing in Obsidian, who was currently sleeping in his miniature form. As you would expect, Obsidian looked like a cute, baby Siberian husky despite still being as strong as his regular form. As I walked over to him, I picked him up and petted his head. He gradually began to wake up, as a large smile began to form on his face.
"Good morning, Obsidian! I hate to wake you up from your slumber but I need your help with something. I need you to maintain this form while I perform some tests on you. Can you do that?", I asked.
Obsidian quickly nodded his head, smiling at me while I brought up the Summoning System.
I quickly began the process of editing Obsidian's Genetic Makeup.
To begin, I started with the Griffin components since they would be the most mana intensive of the other materials. With the help of the magic circles on my arms, I switched out Obsidian's B+ blood with Krotos's A+ blood. That alone drained more mana than I initially thought. However, Griffin's blood has natural regeneration properties as well as being more magic rich. Since Krotos was the son of Apollo, these attributes were more pronounced than usual. I was also able to give Obsidian a pair of Griffin wings since Krotos gave me some of his feathers earlier. To complete these two processes took around 7 minutes, which led Obsidian to not only have the blood of a Griffin but also a pair of black wings with red accents. Given the fatigue that I was currently experiencing, I guessed that I used around 60% of my current 'allotment'. Despite this feeling of heaviness, I decided to press on.
Luckily, the minotaur components were B+ so they shouldn't be as draining as the A+ components. Since we killed two minotaurs, we had a variety of components to choose from. However, I decided to add a pair of Minotaur horns to Obsidian, which would allow him to charge at enemies more effectively. I also combined his flesh with Minotaur flesh since it was a strong and lightweight material. I felt that he'll be more effective on the battlefield with this addition. This entire process took around 6 minutes to finalize, with Obsidian's new horns gradually turning black.
I was most likely around 80% of my allotment so I decided to stop there. After placing the miniature Obsidian on the ground, he began to fly around the room with his tiny wings and horns. Orai couldn't handle the cuteness.
"I HAVE NEVER SEEN SOMETHING SO CUTE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! Why is he so kawaii! I can't handle this!", Orai said loudly.
"Oi! This isn't how a core should behave! Behave yourself in front of the Dungeon Master! Have some class woman!", Vrudius said firmly.
"Not like you can talk, Vrudius! I heard the stories from Helora! You may have been an S+ Titan-Class Demon but you were as perverted as her!", Orai stated.
"Wha-! No! I don't know what you're talking about! Lies, Woman! Lies!", Vrudius said.
"Oh, really? So you didn't visit the Succubi brothel every day you were at Quill's castle? Multiple times a day? You didn't remark to the other bodyguards that you were a demon of culture and felt that oppai was the best thing since the Overlord of Hell came into power?", Orai stated.
"Well...I mean. Uhh...", Vrudius said embarrassed.
As Orai and Vrudius were bickering, Obsidian landed on my right shoulder. After landing, I noticed that the Dungeon's interface had a new notification. Upon clicking it, I was presented with this message:
