Dominating Evolution of the Cosmos

113 The Arrival of Collic

Steve had killed the Ram-horned Demon, but he was not happy. Instead, his face was grim and solemn.

Steve did not know how many killers the demon Collic had dispatched to kill him, but he figured that it must be quite a lot. As such, the longer they stayed here, the more dangerous it would be.

Steve quickly returned to his original position, where all of his purchases from the Erinnyes were. Steve was planning on using these things to send Elizabeth and Selma back safely.

After a while, Steve returned to the river. Once he got there, he saw that the Black Mist had dissipated completely. However, the scene made his pupils constrict with anger.

"Let them go!" Steve shouted.

He was shouting at a man, who was very tall, had a pair of bat-like wings, and had two tails on his back. In fact, the man had used those two tails to tie Elizabeth and Selma up!

The man turned his head slowly upon hearing Steve's shout. His body was strong and his muscles were like steel. Except for the sharp silver horns on his forehead, he looked just like a human.

"You're back?" The demon man looked at Steve and smiled.

Steve's expression was grim, as he had not expected the Ram-horned Demon's companion to arrive in the short period of time that he was gone. Moreover, the demon had caught Elizabeth and Selma!

On top of that, it would appear that the evolutionary rank of the other party was stronger than that of the Ram-horned Demon's, because the more a demon looked like a human, the higher its rank was.

"You can rest assured that I will not kill them," the mysterious demon smiled and said. "Return the object that you've stolen from me, then I'll let them go."

"The object that I've stolen from you? You're..." Steve's eyes widened, a sense of dread suddenly coming over him.

"Yes, I am Collic!" The demon Collic laughed and said.

Steve's face was pale. He never expected to meet the demon Collic under these circumstances. Although Sofia, him, and the others had been planning to kill it, they never thought they would meet the demon so soon.

"I don't know what you want. If you want money and equipment, I can give it to you, as long as you let them go," Steve said solemnly.

"No, you know what I want." Collic laughed, as if he were an elegant gentleman. "Besides, I only want that one thing, and if you give it back to me, I'll let the three of you go."

Steve's expression was gloomy. It seemed that the other party had confirmed that he had the seven-colored eggs.

"Do you think I would be foolish enough to believe a demon's words? Besides, you've ventured into the human region, so sooner or later, the powerful human beings will find this place, then they'll kill you!" Steve said coldly. After all, the seven-colored eggs were very important to Steve, as they were needed in order for him to be able to create new serums and usher in a new era!

"It's more than enough to kill you before the powerful human beings arrive, so you have no choice," Collic said calmly.

Indeed, the demon had no intention of letting Steve and the others live. After all, the less people who knew about the seven-colored eggs, the better! Besides, lies were told by demons on a daily basis.

Steve's face was grim, as he realized just how extremely cunning demons could be! This simply meant that he'd need to be even more cunning than them!

"I can return the treasure to you, but you have to let them go first." Steve held out the Silver Shark Armor and Ice Wing Flying Knife, while standing in the distance, to express his sincerity.

Collic furrowed its brows, not sure whether to trust him or not.

"What you want is the treasure, so as long as they don't know what the treasure is, what's the difference between killing or not killing them?" Steve asked calmly. "And, the longer you delay, the less benefit any action you take will have! It's better to just hurry up and go along with the transaction. With your skills, are you afraid that I'd run away from you?"

Steve's last sentence really agitated the demon. In Collic's eyes, Steve was just like an annoying ant. Collic could just stretch out its hands and have him dead at any moment!

Collic revealed his extreme annoyance, saying, "No, I can kill the whole lot of you! Then, I can search your bodies for the treasure that I want!"

Collic did not wish to waste anymore time. After all, it was just like Steve had said, the longer the demon took to act, the more likely it'd be to expose its tracks.

When it had first started plotting this operation, Collic had planned to follow the assassins secretly. Collic figured that it didn't even matter if the assassin couldn't accomplish the mission, as long as they could create confusion and were able to find Steve's location.

That way, Collic would be able to get there as soon as possible, and because of the chaos caused by the beast tide, the strong human beings would be too busy and distracted to be able to help themselves. Hence, Collic would have enough time to kill Steve and get the treasure!

"If you were to kill me, you'd never get your treasure back!" Steve sneered. "You think I'd be so silly as to put such a precious treasure in such an obvious place for others to find?"

After realizing the importance of the seven-colored eggs, Steve and the Heart of the Universe started thinking of ways to hide them. Thus, only he knew where the seven-colored eggs were hidden.

"Are you threatening me?" Collic's gaze was cold, and the demon was growing angrier by the minute.

As a superior being, how can I be threatened by a humble subordinate?

"No, it's a fact!" Steve sneered. "You should be able to realize that the treasure's not on me."

Collic frowned, as the sensor did indeed show that the treasure was on Steve, but when he approached Steve, he found that the sensor would stop working, then making it seem as if the treasure was not on Steve!

Previously, he thought that the sensor was broken, but now, it seemed that Steve had used special methods to hide the treasure.

"You only have two choices now. The first is to release the both of them and I'll stay to give you the treasure. The second is that we'll all be killed and you won't be able to get the treasure," Steve said calmly.

"Human, you are good," Collic said coldly. "I agree to your conditions, so I'll release them."

After all, with Collic's level-one evolution strength, the demon was not afraid of Steve's tricks. Even if it were to allow Selma and Elizabeth to escape, it could still kill Steve after it had gotten the treasure, then still have enough time to catch up and kill the both of them too!

But, it actually didn't matter if Collic couldn't kill the two women, as the treasure was the most important thing. Both of Collic's slender tails released their grips on the two women at that moment. Now freed, Elizabeth and Selma gasped for breath.

"The two of you, leave immediately!" Steve snapped at them.

"No, I won't leave you alone..." Elizabeth's face was pale and her eyes were full of stubbornness.

"Selma, take Elizabeth away." Steve pointed to a new Bumblebee Chariot.

Selma looked grim, but still obeyed and took Elizabeth to the Bumblebee Chariot.

"I will not go! I'm not going!" Elizabeth kept struggling.

"We'd only be a burden to Steve if we stayed," Selma said. "You have to trust Steve."

Steve looked at Elizabeth, then said, "Don't worry, I'll come back and join you guys."
