319 Saving People
When David saw both their injuries, his expression changed drastically as he said, "Christina's injuries are too serious! The demon's energy has eroded her body, so our medical equipment cannot cure her injuries. At most, we can only suppress the demon's energy in her body!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a black force started spreading from Christina's wound throughout her entire body, like a deadly poison. The auras of death and silence engulfed everything that the black energy touched. It was like it was contaminated!
"As for Wendy's injuries, they were caused by Ares-level beings, and we can't suppress the remaining energy that such beings leave behind!" David shook his head, then said, "It seems like they're both hopeless causes!"
All of the blood drained from Nickerson's face. He had worked with Chief Instructor Wendy for many years, and during that time, he had fallen in love with her a little bit.
"No! Wendy, you can't die... The military base can't go on without you..." Nickerson knelt before Wendy, tears dripping down his face as he cried out in pain.
"Daughter..." Colin Masa, Christina's father, trembled and almost fainted. He had heard the bad news and rushed over. His heart felt like he couldn't possibly stand the shock of it all.
"I don't want you to die! Ahh! I would rather give up my present wealth than let you die..." Colin wept as held Christina's body as and cried out bitterly.
"They were all trying to save me..." Steve murmured. His face was pale and his heart ached.
"You are too important to mankind. As a soldier, it was Wendy's duty to save you. The fact that she did manage to save you means that her death was not in vain." David sighed, and grief was written all over his face.
President Sidney, the other unhurt pharmacists, and the guests all sighed as well. If they were to analyze this situation rationally, the Clown Pharmacist was too important to human beings, and since he might become on the greatest beings among all human beings, it meant that his influence on the pharmacist community was unparalleled.
Thus, as long as he was alive, humanities' technology would enter an unparalleled period of rapid development. This seemed to prove that his life was worth more than most. But, no one could get past the fact that all life was priceless! Nobody could define if this kind of sacrificial mentality was right or wrong, let alone place a value on whether paying such a high price was worth it or not.
"No! I can't let them die. It's my fault! They were trying to save me. And... They're not dead yet, so there's still hope.." As Steve looked at the two girls, his eyes were red and tears were brimming in them.
It had never occurred to him that people would sacrifice themselves for him. But, regardless of whether or not he agreed with their actions, at this moment, it appeared as if Steve had no choice in the matter.
All of the powerful forces had their eyes on him, and he had no choice but to put on a brave face to make them fear him. In this way, they would not dare provoke him. Secretly, Steve knew that he was not as great as everyone said, as he also had his own selfish interests at heart.
"Does Mr. Clown have a way to save them?" David asked quietly.
Steve instantly thought of the Apollo Battleship. The only way to save them was to use the equipment on the Apollo Battleship. But, Steve knew that this might also reveal his secrets.
So, Steve quickly made a decision, and without agonizing over it, he said, "I can save them, but you have to prepare a secret room for me. The secret room can't have any monitoring equipment in it, and none of you can go in it if I don't come out."
David's face changed as he heard this stipulation, and doubts immediately filled his heart and mind.
Colin Masa said immediately, without hesitation, "There's a room like this inside the building. Follow me."
"President Sidney, does Mr. Clown really have a way to save them?" David asked.
"I don't know, but we can only choose to trust Mr. Clown at times like this. Besides, Mr. Clown is someone who can create miracles," President Sidney said firmly.
In any case, Christina and Wendy would surely die, as no treatment, medicine, or serums could save them, at least not the current technology of humans. But, when he thought of the miracles that had already been accomplished by the Clown Pharmacist, David hesitantly started to believe...
...
Inside the secret room, Steve made sure that there were no monitoring devices around.
"Are you really going to bring them to the Apollo Battleship?" Judy's voice suddenly rang out in Steve's mind.
"They are in their current situations because of me, as they were trying to save me. Do you want me to just watch them die?" Steve asked.
"But, you need to understand how much of a negative impact the exposure of the Apollo Battleship's could cause. Can you be sure that they'll keep your secrets?" Judy asked.
"My secrets might not necessarily be exposed. Besides, is there any other way to save them?" Steve asked.
Judy was silent and sighed as she said, "It's your choice. I just hope that you won't regret it later."
Steve figured that he could take a gamble just this once, but of course, he naturally hoped that they wouldn't find out about his secret in the end. After Steve made up his mind, Steve, Wendy, and Christina vanished from the secret room, leaving through the opening of the transmission channel.
Judy was already waiting for them inside the Apollo Battleship. "Hand them over to me," Judy said.
Two medical beds were transported over to them automatically. Black lines stretched out on both sides of the beds to catch Wendy and Christina and place them on the beds. The black lines were then inserted into their bodies, as strands of silks that were filled with energy flowed into them, temporarily stabilizing their injuries.
Inside the two transparent treatment cabins, green liquid wrapped both of the women up as the black threads connected the liquid with their bodies.
"How are their injuries now? Can they be saved?" Steve asked nervously.
"I'm still in the process of analyzing the data." Judy was focused on operating the computer.
After a while, she reported, "There's some trouble. Christina's internal organs have all been eroded, so even if the demonic energy that is inside her body is removed, her organs have already started dying and wouldn't survive."
She sighed, then said, "So.. It's just a matter of time until she is dead. To put it simply, her organs are like those of very old people. The life span of her organs has come to an end."
After hearing that, Steve turned pale and asked, "Is there no other way?"
"There are other ways to replace her organs, but it's extremely hard to cultivate them! And, it's even harder for all of the organs to match up and not clash with one another. At the same time, all of these multiple operations must be performed simultaneously. As such, it's a big risk," Judy explained.
Basic organ replacement was not difficult, but in Christina's case, all of the organs in her body had already failed, including her heart, lungs, kidneys, large intestine, small intestine, liver, spleen and so on. So, it was extremely difficult for the new organs to match up perfectly, without any conflicts or rejections.
Moreover, so many visceral replacements must be made at the same time, and there couldn't be any mistakes. The probability of all of this happening was close to zero!
"Even if there is a risk, you must try it!" Steve said through gritted teeth.
