Carriage of Immortality

57 Your First Task, Protect The Cave! 1

"The cost for each Medicine Salve is not expensive, but to feed the hundred and two soldiers, it can be quite a cost. I guess I'll have to tell Fengbu to help me amass more Medicinal Golden Tusk instead of other perishable goods."

Mu Qing Lang complained slightly, but that did not stop him from making them in a large batch enough for each soldier within the incomplete platoon.

Once the crafting process is over, Mu Qing Lang withdraws one of the Medicine Salve from the Storage Chest before he took a seat beside the Information Table.

"Not bad. If the time allows me to do it, I'll check what I can do with the Pure Opium Crystals." Mu Qing Lang took a step back off from the Information Table and went outside once more.

"Looks like both half platoons understand the importance of continuous training and small tricks. If this is how they perform, it won't take too long for the one hundred man platoon to compete against the opponent two times larger than themselves."

Mu Qing Lang stares at everyone training privately together, while nobody realized he's looking at them. The two half platoons test their leader while giving him multiple advice on which part they lack. The training continues along with their master staring at them, sharing the effort together.

"If you train to protect me, I'll look at you, my protector." Mu Qing Lang meditates as he monitors them through the eye of his heart.

His appearance soon attracts the attention of the hundred soldiers. When they found out that their master was monitoring them for the entire night, their loyalty towards Mu Qing Lang raised into another height nobody ever thinks before.

"Master was looking at us all the time..."

"He did... Does this means my effort was actually seen by his lord?"

"Pledging loyalty to this person... Is not a mistake! It was the right choice."

"Master..."

"Master..."

The two half platoon teams went to freshen themselves. This time, even their back is straighter than the next.

Day Sixty-One.

Seven days have passed after Mu Qing Lang left the Eastern Changzhou to train the first platoon of soldiers. The group was well received when they came back.

Mu Qing Lang ordered the people to let them fill their stomach before anything else. As for what they do after the meal, that is their own matters.

Back to Chief Manor, four people stand before Mu Qing Lang waiting to give him their reports. First is Han Xi, who tasked to handle the big or small matter related to Eastern Changzhou. The second person is Guan Yi, who came to report everything related to security and the goblin tribe's matter.

Tiezu-Wu was the third, handling the matter from livestock to the increases in their number of orcs. Last would be Fengbu, who have so many things to report because Mu Qing Lang is out for the entire week.

Almost all of their report is good news.

160 Young Orcs evolved during adulthood. As for the remaining 30 Iron Skin Boars, it was a failure for them and was slaughtered for their meat and leather. Of course, that amount can be said to be small compared to their pack of 2,500 Iron Skin Boars.

And on Guan Yi's report, seven goblins evolved. Two Goblin Leaders, Three Goblin Gatherer, and two Dark Goblins, who was a member in the previous war against the Yelu-Namu Settlement. He named the two Hei Yi and Hei Er respectively and arranged both to become the guards for Eastern Changzhou.

After that, Han Xi reported everything that happened in and out of Eastern Changzhou for these seven days. Through his meticulous attention placed on the Mushan Village, Han Xi notices the relationship between them with the Donghai-Orc Village is very unfriendly.

Trading between the two villages has stopped over ten days, with guards from both sides checking on each another. And the reason for such hostility was caused by a cave near to the border between the Eastern Changzhou, Yulan Mountain Forest, and Yulan Mother Mountain.

From the word of those traders that came from Mushan Village, the reason for these disputes was caused by the creature living inside the cave, and what was found during their first and second exploration.

They call it Eight-Leg Stalker. Agile and deadly, the eight-legged creature was the carrier of death inside the cave. Lucky for them, the passage from the entrance to the first chamber is relatively short, which is about twenty minutes walk of they explored carefully.

But that was just the only good news for them, as the chamber about three kilometers wide in diameter was the dining area for the Eight-Leg Stalker. Their number was not ten or twenty, but exceeds hundreds. The two humans survivor from the second exploration reported that only from the molted shells alone told them there's more than a thousand inside.

Furthermore, the silk that the Eight-Legged Stalker used to wrap its limbs and backside is totally resistant to sharp weapons. If it was not because the two survivors excel in melee fights, there might be no survivor coming out from the exploration.

Meanwhile, from what was heard from the Donghai-Orcs, they stated that the underground cave is filled with mineral ores, with thick veins that rich in Confer Stone, a mineral that melts into copper when heated into an extreme condition.

Inside this world, the Confer Stone is one of the three most basic materials along with Ash Stone and Water Gravel. They're respectively Copper, Iron, and Tin in Mu Qing Lang's world, only slightly different in term of preparations.

What made the Donghai-Orcs became unfriendly with the Mushan Village is due to this riches. While humans have less demand for the mineral ores, the orcs literally live with it. For them, mining, smelting, crafting into rods for future uses are a hobby.

To a tribe that honors the Confer Stones and other more important than the Eastern Sea Spiritual Pearl, sharing the cave with Mushan Village can be said as impossible to happen. They might rather destroy the entrance instead of letting the human exploits their interest.

Plus, Mushan Village does not rely on mining as one of their profit-making trade, but fishing is. As the neighbor to Mother Sea east of Yulan Mother Mountain, Mushan Village focus more on the fishing trade instead of mining.

So...

How can they tolerate this? Sharing the cave is absolutely impossible, especially for the orcs who take the cave as one of the most important thing for them!

Inside their mind, the human pay more attention to the Eight-Legged Stalker, mainly to collect their silk. And the Donghai-Orcs is aiming at the walls and minerals ore inside the cave. Truth to be told, why would the orcs share their fate with the human's greed to mess with the Eight-Legged Stalker?

"You humans love to mess with the Eight-Legged Stalker, so you will drag all of us down into the soil together. This is impossible for us to negotiate!" that's what must be inside the mind of every Donghai-Orcs.

And this was where they're mistaken.

As the culprit that entered the cave and started to create the clink and clank noise using their ancient tools, does that not mean anything for the Eight-Legged Stalker with superior sense in hearing?

One idiot scolding another, unaware of themselves are also doing a part of causing it ah!

And what can Mu Qing Lang do after listening to all of these reports?

Become a mediator, of course!

"I will be the most idiotic and brainless person in this world if I actually held myself from taking a bite from both!"
