4 When you have your dreams crushed
"What do you mean by what??" Jia Xinyue questioned, "Haven't you made it clear enough what you're trying to do to me?"
Jia Xinyue attempted to make herself seem even smaller, completely hiding herself behind the pillow. She looked at Wang Feng with narrowed eyes.
Wang Feng finally unfroze from his "kabe-don" position before walking over and plopping onto the bed. He sighed deeply as he stared into Jia Xinyue's eyes on the other side of the room, trying to look as sincere as possible.
"I swear, that was not my intention. You just never gave me time to explain." Wang Feng exclaimed, running his fingers through his hair.
Jia Xinyue rolled her eyes, clear disbelievement shown on her face.
"Then hurry up and explain now! Also, where did you get me from? Why are my injuries completely healed?" Jia Xinyue shoots out question after question.
"Ok but first things first. How did you-"Wang Feng ran his hands through his hair again before he continued, "-get to the conclusion that I'm a masochist?"
"Are you even listening to me?" Jia Xinyue asked, crossing her arms around the pillow.
"I'll get to that later!" Wang Feng responds.
He needs to know how he, a cool and handsome guy, got called an M! He was meant to be cold! And! Cool! He's a CC with AOE abilities! Effective for crowd control and making girls fall for him! Wang Feng griminced and he scratched his head as he waited for Jia Xinyue's response.
Jia Xinyue huffed and spat out-
"You looked like you were enjoying your trip outside the window."
"I still don't get it. You'd be a scary teacher." Wang Feng stared at Jia Xinyue in mock horror, "Always speaking vaguely and slightly threatening."
Jia Xinyue stared back, waiting.
He sighed and then shifted into a more comfortable sitting position, grumbling quietly.
With another deep sigh, he leaned forward and said dryly-
"Congratulations! You died! That's why you don't have-"
"Do I really have to send you to a mental hospital? Am I not alive right now?" Jia Xinyue let the pillow drop to the ground before shaking her arms.
"Are you telling me corpses can move and talk?" She said, exasperated.
Wang Feng glared at her.
"Anyways," He continued," the only reason why you're still here is because of two reasons."
Suddenly Wang Feng unfolded himself from the bed and sauntered over to the window, where he dropped the pendant.
He held it up against the sunlight, the rays glancing off the surface and creating delicate patterns on the walls.
"Does this character remind you of anything?" He asked, and turned around to gaze at Jia Xinyue.
Jia Xinyue studied the pendant carefully. It looked nothing like the pendant she had picked up before. She noticed, however, that the shape was-
"That's-!" She leapt up from her chair and leaned closer to the pendant, hands cupped gently around it.
She looked up at Wang Feng.
"That's my name, isn't it? Why is it-" She began before getting cut off by Wang Feng.
"I'll get to that later if you can actually listen and be patient."
Jia Xinyue clicked her tongue in annoyment. He was the one who asked the question in the first place!
However, she went back to sit on the chair, shuffling her feet across the floor like a spoiled child. She huffed and waved a hand for him to continue.
"This is the pendant you picked up. During the accident, your blood was absorbed by the pendant, which means that you claim the pendant." He explained.
Suddenly, he looked down and fished out a phone. He furrowed his brows. Glancing at Jia Xinyue, he said-
"I don't have a lot of time. So I'll let you see for yourself."
With these words, he threw the pendant over to Jia Xinyue, who fumbled for it, and walked out of the room.
Jia Xinyue was dumbfounded. For a couple of seconds she froze, trying to absorb the information.
"Hey! Wang Feng! You can't just leave me here!" She cries out, rushing over the already closed door.
She reached out for the silver doorknob, and jiggled it once, twice, then gave up in frustration when it refused to open.
What did he mean?
Jia Xinyue walked back to the bed and sat, still pondering.
[My blood was absorbed..]
She held up the pendant, and marvelled at how pretty the calligraphy was.
[Wait. Hold up. This sounds like something out of a transmigration-]
Suddenly, she felt a splitting pain in her head, making her drop the pendant. She cried out and curled upon the bed, her hands gripping her head, trying to stop the pain. Her muscles tensed up and her breath quickened, adrenaline rushing through her blood and the pain spread throughout her body.
[That bastard!]
If he was in the room, she would've ripped him to pieces!
Everything went dark.
Once again, Jia Xinyue woke up with a throbbing pain in her head. She didn't even have the strength to open her eyes.
She was just a university student! Physical pain wasn't something she was used to, considering it was usually mentally-
She felt like she just ran 20km, and as someone who rarely exercised strenuously, she just wanted to cry.
Her muscles felt like they were stiff, and on fire! The back of her throat burned and her tongue felt unusually uncomfortable in her mouth.
Even worse, she felt sticky all over!
She took a deep breath and opened her eyes before closing them again the next second!
[Too bright!]
From what she saw, she seemed to be in a white space. Recalling what Wang Feng said before, could this be the legendary so-called space? A golden finger that would let her surpass all others and become the number one unrivalled existence under the heavens?
Jia Xinyue cheered in her heart. It seems like she had become a protagonist, one who enjoyed all the pleasures in life while dishing out awesome face-slapping combos!
She gritted her teeth and forced herself to slowly crawl into a sitting position.
Opening her eyes more carefully now, she took a good look around her.
It really was an endless white space.
She looked behind her and noticed a...blond corpse?
Then it started to move?!
Jia Xinyue wanted to run, but something kept her locked in her position, gazing pensively at the reanimated corpse.
The blond boy clutched at his head, making Jia Xinyue sympathise with him. The pain really was too much for people like them!
He glanced over at Jia Xinyue, who felt her face-con side appear again.
Blond, fluffy hair...big brown eyes sparkling with naiveness..
K.O!
He was like a bunny! Too cute!
Jia Xinyue wanted to run over to him and squish his adorable cheeks, but that something was still holding her down!
Suddenly, a blue window appeared in front of him, nearly scaring the wits out of Jia Xinyue. The boy wasn't fazed in the least, reading the window with eager interest.
He tapped on a button before making his way over to Jia Xinyue.
"So. I guess we're bonded now." He said lightly.
Jia Xinyue felt like jumping out a window again, but there was no window handy.
She couldn't understand! Who told her to slack off in her English classes?
Well she could understand a couple of the words..but she doesn't understand what they meant when put together! How was she supposed to respond? She couldn't even move!
Suddenly, hundreds of blue windows appeared behind Jia Xinyue, giving the space a blue tint.
"Wow. Nice effects. Why can't you talk though?" The blond wondered.
All Jia Xinyue heard was 'effects', 'why', and 'talk'. Upon seeing the blue tint, she felt an intense urge to turn around.
Ah.. I want to see too..
"Who are you?" The blonde furrowed his brows, enhancing his bunny look.
[I think.. he's referring to me?]
Sadly, she was still stuck! Luckily, help in the form of a blue window came to her aid. A blue window appeared in front of her with two options.
Upon reading the two options, Jia Xinyue once again felt an intense urge to beat up Wang Feng, who led her into this mess!
'I am System 57, at your service,' and, 'System 57.'
These were the only two options!
Instead of being given a system and conquering the world, Jia Xinyue instead...became the system!
