"It's almost definitely an egg." Lili said, with an expression that told the world that she knew everything.

The small stone that Kalin had been drawn toward was placed on a table in Mei's room. After dinner the three of them, though mostly Liliana, started talking. It didn't take long for the subject of the stone to come back up.

She continued, "As an elven succubus, I am able to feel the presence of life. Though almost nonexistent, there is a tiny trace of life force within the egg." She sighed before adding, with a complicated expression on her face. "Even I wouldn't have noticed it if I was just looking in passing."

Mei had a face of contemplation before chiming in, "Kalin might have a skill that has to do with taming or fate. He had mentioned that he felt that he 'needed' to buy the egg when I asked him why he payed so much for almost worthless stones."

Lili nodded as she swung her legs, while sitting on Mei's bed. Though she tried to act mature all the time, she came off as a child that was acting like an adult. Her subconscious actions caused her to look more adorable than usual. Kal just tilted his head as he asked, "Is that bad?"

Lili puffed out her nonexistent chest as she continued with a know-it-all tone of voice, "If you had a nature skill, you would become a popular adventurer pretty quickly. Like myself, people with nature-related skills aren't attacked by small fry animals that just slow down advanced parties of adventurers, allowing them to finish quests more quickly. This is generally why elves are so popular even if they are less powerful than the rest of their party." She didn't let go of the opportunity to brag as she added, "Of course, that wasn't the case for the party that Mei and I were a part of, Flower Garden. We were considered the strongest party of only women in the entirety of Den!"

As she looked at the worship in Kal's eyes, Mei didn't have the heart to tell him that a lot of their reputation was due to the number of men that became eunuchs after they sexually harassed one of the members of their party. Unrelated, more than 4/5 of these incidents were caused by a certain pink-haired elf..

Changing the subject, Mei asked toward Kal, "Are you excited about getting your status plate tomorrow?"

Kal nodded excitedly, before he said, "I can't wait until I can get my status and become an adventurer!"

Mei smiled at Kal's dimpled face as she had successfully changed the topic of the conversation, "What kind of skills do you think you'll have?"

Lili felt a little annoyed as she was ignored by her little brother and best friend. Pouting a little bit, she cut off Kalin and said, "He'll most likely have all race-specific skills of succubi as well as something related to sewing or crafting. He might have something related to potion making or alchemy, though he might be a little young for that."

"That's already quite a few." Mei commented, "Though it is common for people to have anywhere up to 10 skills when they get their status read for the first time, it's usually closer to around 4-6."

The two girls continued to talk as Kal tried to soak in as much information as possible. As Kalin had experienced many new things throughout the day, he hadn't been speaking much. His excitement had died down somewhat, causing sleep to creep upon him as he struggled to keep his eyes opened.

Noticing the state of her brother, Lili asked, "Could we borrow your bath now, since we were traveling throughout the day, Kal and I should wash off our sweat before going to bed."

Mei nodded as she stood up, "I'll show you to the bathroom." As she beaconed them to follow her, Lili pulled a drowsy Kal as she walked out the room.

The bathroom was but a couple steps away from her room. She opened the door, revealing a changing room that had a sink, mirror, and several baskets, one of which had a stack of neatly folded towels. As her father was relatively wealthy, their household even had a magic device that washed and dried clothes automatically. Even having a bath of their own was a sign of wealth. Showing them how things worked, Mei turned to leave before she felt a hand grab her own, preventing her from leaving.

"It's been so long since we took a bath together," Lili said with a smile, "you should join us."

Looking at the face of her friend, and then at the little boy standing there, Mei had a complicated expression on her face. Although he is around the same age as, and even younger than some of the children that go to the women's side at public bathhouses, she couldn't help but remember the scene where Lili 'proved' that he was a boy. Usually, children were allowed into either side of a bath until they were considered an adult, at the age of 13, though most stopped going to the other side around the time they received their status plate around their eighth birthday.

Seeing the hesitation in her eyes, Lili couldn't help but use this rare opportunity to tease her. "Oh? Are you seriously conscious about a child? Who would have thought that the former vice-captain of Flower Garden had a thing for children? I wonder what others would think if they heard about this.."

Looking at the smug face on her ex-captain's face, she couldn't help but feel annoyed. She did have a faint blush on her cheeks, however, as she thought about how ridiculous she was being. Lili turned to Kalin and asked a question that caused Mei to freeze. "Kal, what do you think about Mei?"

Mei's insecurities started to buzz through her mind. She couldn't help but feel her stomach churn as she dreaded how he would answer. She could almost feel Kalin's eyes burn her skin as she wanted to hide from him. Being single for the entirety of her 28 years of life did cause her to feel insecure of her body. Mei couldn't help but pause as she heard the words of the small incubus. Though she had been called pretty by some girls she knew, she had never been called cute. Certainly not by a boy. Though she definitely didn't think of him as more than a child, she couldn't help but feel a warm feeling wash over herself. She couldn't help but smile slightly at the goofy grin that was on his face. Even though she felt a new wave of relief and confidence, she couldn't help but softly reprimand Kalin. Kalin looked a little puzzled as he tilted his head, "How did I lie? Mei is super cute!"

His expression carried a strange innocent confidence that made his expression seem to glow. Mei couldn't help but spend the rest of the bath absent-mindedly with a small blush to her cheeks, as she seemed to be stuck in her thoughts.

Noticing the state Mei was in, Lili couldn't help but internally giving a thumbs-up to her little brother. Lili loved Mei like a sister and couldn't help but have a rare genuine smile that greatly contrasted her usually smug face.
