36 Chapter 36 : Slamfluf
From the radiant, lime green rift marched out a group of five creatures.
They were small, two to three feet tall, they looked like bipedal animals.
The creature wore regular clothes, shirts, trousers, little black boots and hardhats, the two larger creatures carried what looked like a wooden toolbox.
"What..what are these?" Gyll asked in awe.
"They are called the carpenters of the forest, they build houses and temples for the dryads and nymphs of the great emerald forest!" Heenia explained, observing the bunch settling down.
One of the creatures, resembling a small bear walked up to Heenia with a tiny white mug, hit extended its arm towards her.
Heenia handed the creature the blueprints for the fort.
"I think he's in charge," Razyl whispered to Kaber who was still admiring the creatures,
Heenia leaned in towards the foreman and exchanged some quiet whispers.
"Alright, guys! They said they'll have the fort done by the end of the week." Heenia said.
"There's no way they'll be done that fast," Razyl said
"It takes years for people to build forts, how are they meant to do it in a few days!" Gyll said.
"But they have something humans don't!" Mi said looking towards Gyll
"And what power is that?" Gyll asked.
"The power of plot convenience," Mi replied.
Everyone stayed silent, you could hear a cricket making noise, "Phyl, please stop!" Heenia demanded.
"I'm a mantis, not a cricket!" Phyl insisted.
After another few seconds of silence...
"Well, shall we get going?" Mi suggested.
"Yeah, where are we going?" Gyll asked, turning to Kaber and Razyl who nodded in approval.
Mi sighed, "You remember that glowy angel guy?" she asked.
Both Razyl and Gyll shook their heads but Kaber said he did.
"Yeah, I guess that's fair, Gyll was knocked out and Razyl was being useless as always," Mi said with a shrug.
Razyl looked down in embarrassment.
"Don't say that! If not for Razyl staying here I wouldn't have found you guys!" Heenia said in defence of Razyl
"Whatever, let's go!" Mi replied.
"I'll lead the way!" Heenia said.
