17 Chapter 16: Shib yug ?
Notes:
"First, I need you to fill this form." Jimin took the papers shyly, his left hand holding tightly on Jungkook as he scanned all the questions he needed to answer. The only reason why he was feeling at ease was because his boyfriend decided to accompany him to the therapy session but in the short time experience he managed to realise that the old woman sitting across him had no intention to hurt him.
He never took this type of help in consideration because he wouldn't have imagined opening up to a complete stranger in the first place but he relaxed once he understood Mrs. Wang has been informed about the fact that he was a little. Yoongi made sure to instruct her when it came to his personality and Jimin couldn't thank him enough for relieving him of so much pressure. It was an introduction so the student decided to talk about his anxiety first, briefly mentioning his self harm but never showing the actual results of it that were lying underneath his long sleeves. Mrs. Wang was patient and kind and by the time they parted he concluded that seeing her by himself was alright and that he wanted to learn how to get better.
He felt motivated to improve his state of mind and as it was a first, his thoughts were overwhelming. Sixty minutes passed faster than he would have wanted to and as soon as the cold air began tickling his cheeks he felt his eyes getting tingly from the tears that started to form. He blinked repeatedly so he wouldn't start crying in the middle of the street but Jungkook must have seen right through him because he took the scarf he was wearing around his own neck and wrapped it around his before pulling him into a tight hug. Being held while feeling so insecure was the best thing in the entire world and he was happy his boyfriend was so attentive.
"I'm proud of you." The tattoo artist whispered into his hair and slowly let go in order for their hands to join. A few minutes of silence passed as they made their way down the street, heading towards the elder's car. As soon as they got inside of it they turned on the heating and Jimin unzipped his winter jacket, not making a move to take the scarf off. "Where do you want us to go?"
"I don't know." He was not hungry and he didn't feel like going back to his or Jungkook's so he shrugged and rested his head against the window as soon as he felt the car starting.
"Road trip?" It sounded perfect so the younger smiled at his boyfriend's attempt to improve his mood. It was not that he was feeling down, his feelings were just all over the place and he needed a few moments to gain control over them. Thankfully, Jungkook turned on the radio but started no conversation as slow songs in English began flooding the car, his beautiful voice humming along to them.
"Paper Hearts" by Tori Kelly came on and cinnamon eyes widened in surprise at the sound of it, his heartbeat increasing.
"This is my favourite song!" They were waiting at a red light so Jungkook turned to look at him, happy to see how drastically his disposition changed. He was surprised to see how well his baby followed every line, how he was pouring his heart in every English word he was struggling to reproduce.
They drove all the way to Muuido Island and tried to have a short walk on the beach but the wind was blowing too violently and the air was too cold for that. Their stomachs were protesting loudly when they entered Jungkook's apartment so the first thing they did was to agree on what to have for dinner. Kimchi sounded perfect because it was fast, warm and easy to prepare so they had the meal on the living room's floor, the TV on. Jimin felt more like a roommate than a guest so he offered to wash the dishes when his boyfriend bribed him with kisses to forget all about it and lure him to the bedroom.
"Come on, I have something for you." The pink haired boy scrunched his nose.
"Why do you always buy me things?"
"Because I enjoy spoiling you." A loud peck was placed on the side of his neck before he felt arms scooping him up and carrying him away from the kitchen counter without much protest. He enjoyed the way he was always handled with so much care; Jungkook seemed to believe he was made of glass so he smiled contently as the latter abandoned him for a minute to look through the things lying on his desk.
He came back holding a box that was prettily decorated with a pink bow so Jimin tugged on the velvety material before taking the lid off and peeking inside. A cute notebook was placed inside, its cover filled with smiley hedgehogs and beside that he saw a see-through bag filled with.. drawn bandages?
"Oh?" He managed to read the note that was placed on top so he figured out they were temporary tattoos and smiled widely when he read some of the messages written on them. They were recommended for people who struggled with anxiety and depression so they were showing positive lines that could only make Jimin's heartbeat increase. He sometimes wondered what he did to deserve someone so caring by his side.
"Yoongi told me writing your thoughts might help." Under the notebook lied a few glittery pens so he had to giggle before moving so he would sit on his boyfriend's lap. He wished he would have enough words to tell Jungkook how much he loved him.
"Thank you." He grabbed the little bag and offered it to the other. "Please pick one."
A little bandage was applied on the back of his hand in no time and he grinned when he saw it read "You are my sunshine", the skin of his cheeks burning. The tattoo artist began to hum the song into his ear but was interrupted by plush lips pressing against the corner of his mouth. They soon lost themselves as they were lying down facing each other, their tongues brushing tenderly and making sure they didn't miss a second of closeness. Jimin decided he could have spent the rest of his life like that but agreed when Jungkook pulled away so he would turn on the heat.
It was pretty cold in the room so the younger walked all the way to the closet from where he grabbed a black hoodie that he dressed without an effort before curling on the bed like a cat. He closed his eyes and kept them like that until a sound kiss was pressed on his ear.
"Let's have hot chocolate."
"Do y'have marshmallows, Daddy?" His voice came out hoarse and he wetted his lips when Jungkook nodded and offered him his hand.
They never complained about that kind of domestic days because they found pleasure in little things so they fell asleep embraced after making love and cuddling under the sheets.
The alarm went off and the sound was so strident that the brown-haired man groaned in annoyance as he blindly searched for the button that could stop it. It was awfully early but they both had things to do so Jungkook rubbed his face with a hand, trying to chase the sleepiness away. He decided they should eat before showering so he turned to look at the pink head that was barely peeking from under the thick blanket. He gently peeled the covers and watched as Jimin turned away from him and curled further into himself.
"Come on, kitten." He whispered and rubbed his side lovingly. "Wake up."
The student covered his head with his arm and didn't move.
"Min, don't make me say it again." Another whine but no movement; the tattoo artist took a smaller hand in his in order to reveal the face of his morning victim. "You have classes today, baby."
"No." Jimin mumbled and whimpered in exasperation before furrowing his brows, his eyes still closed. The elder thought it was just a tantrum but then noticed how red his cheeks were so he pressed the back of his hand against his forehead and gasped when he felt it burning.
"You're running a fever, baby." He rarely had to deal with these type of situations but he tried to remember what his mother always did when he or his brother were getting sick. He needed a few minutes to find the only thermometer he had and Jimin whined when he felt the cold thing placed under his arm, his eyes finally opening to meet his boyfriend's. He looked somewhat confused. "Hey, pretty boy." Jungkook's voice was coated in kindness as he spoke. "You can go back to sleep after Daddy figures out how high your temperature is, okay?"
"Okay." Jimin sounded hoarse. "'m thirsty." A glass of water was immediately offered to him and the elder was surprised by how fast the liquid disappeared but was distracted when the thermometer began beeping.
39 degrees Celsius were certainly enough to make him worry so there was no way he could go to the parlour and leave his baby alone. It must have been the cold weather they endured the other day and he hated himself for not making sure Jimin was dressed properly but there was no going back, he had to focus on making the boy feel better.
"Can I sleep now?"
"Of course, sweets." He kissed the top of his head.
"Will you leave?" The student sounded worried so fingers hurried to run through his hair.
"No, I'll go and get us something to eat. You can rest until then."
Jungkook was ready to close the door behind him when he heard a little gasp and turned around to watch his lover.
"Daddy – "
"Yes, pumpkin?" He knew Jimin felt little and that made him even more vulnerable so he had to act extra carefully.
"Can I have the panda?" The man smiled widely and headed towards his desk on top of which rested the stuffed animal he later offered to his boyfriend. "Thank you." The plushie was hugged close to his chest as he turned on a side and closed his eyes once again, annoyed by the dizziness that was taking over.
Jungkook let Yoongi know he couldn't make it, trusting that his hyung would reschedule his appointments; he was lucky to have someone so supportive and understanding as a business partner. Yoongi was aware that he would have done the same if Hoseok was the one feeling sick so it was easy for him to be compassionate – there were certain things that were always going to be more important than their job.
He prepared omelette and two cups of tea he placed on a wooden tray he brought to the bedroom half an hour later and was surprised to see Jimin was wide awake and fixing the covered window. He placed the tray on the nightstand before pulling the curtains and letting the sun rays flooding the room.
The boy didn't protest when he has been picked up like a rag doll and guided in a sitting position, pillows making sure he was comfortable enough before the food was offered to him. He didn't feel hungry but he knew it was for the best so he tried to eat his share, his throat feeling sore with every gulp. His could feel his stomach getting upset but he thought it was going to settle after getting food.
"Have some tea, angel." He did but realised it has been a bad idea only when he felt his body spasm and turned around, covering his mouth with his palm while doing so. It was too late because he was already throwing up and anxiety filled his brain, panicking him to no end. "Fuck – Let it out, baby. It's okay, let it all out." Tears filled his eyes to the brim and he started sobbing as soon as he could breathe once again, feeling ashamed of himself.
He felt a napkin cleaning his chin and his hand but he knew the sheets were destroyed so he closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around his body, as if he wanted to protect himself. He inhaled deeply before struggling to get off the bed.
"Are you feeling sick again?" Jungkook got up himself and tried to reach for him but stopped when he saw he was tugging on the sheets. "What are you doing, Min?"
"I'm – I'm sorry, Daddy. It's s-so messy." His sobs grew louder with every syllable and the elder figured out what he was talking about so he pulled him into his arms and let him hide his face in the soft fabric of his shirt as his body kept shaking. He didn't care if vomit was going to stain his shirt, he just wanted to make his boyfriend understand that dirtying something was an inoffensive thing and he would never be upset about something like that.
"You don't have to apologise for your upset stomach, baby." Jungkook kissed the top of his head and enjoyed the silence for a few seconds before suggesting to change the sheets so he could lie down once again after cleaning himself. He was lucky enough to find a lemon so he offered his boyfriend lemon water, hoping it was enough to calm his tummy. "I think I need to head out and shop for groceries." He was thinking about cooking some soup but his initiative began to crumble when he met once again teary browns.
"But I don't want you to." It would have sounded bratty if Jimin's voice wouldn't have been quivering and Jungkook sighed, knowing his baby was truly feeling down.
"The market is just around the corner, you know that. We've been there before and Daddy wants to cook something really good for you so you can get better." He also wanted to buy some medicine to help him with the fever as chubby cheeks were just as pink as before.
"'m not hungry." The little's shoulders began shaking as another wave of tears began sliding down his cheeks but he sat down and faced away from his boyfriend, his sobs vibrating through the air.
"Minnie." Jungkook slipped his fingers in between shorter ones but the other withdrew his hand and placed it in between his thighs so he would avoid any type of contact. "It's a twenty minutes trip, kitten." He was difficult but the elder decided to avoid the word, knowing it would have a huge negative impact on his boyfriend's mind. "Look, we can talk on the phone while I –"
"No." Jimin gulped and wiped his face with the back of his hand. "It's okay, I'm sorry for being bad." The brown haired man offered him a napkin and kissed his ear reassuringly before turning on the TV and finding the cartoons channel.
His lover was a mess so the tattoo artist basically ran to the market to buy everything on the list, making sure he didn't skip any crucial item, before stopping by a pharmacy. Jimin was wide-awake when he announced he came back and as bad as he felt he insisted on joining him in the kitchen and watched as he was cooking, his head resting on the both of his arms that were placed on the table. Jungkook noticed how hard he was struggling to stay awake so he took advantage of the first time he closed his eyes for a few moments to gently lift him up in his arms and carry him back to the bedroom.
"I'm not going anywhere, sweets. Try to nap-nap a bit until the soup is ready." Surprisingly, the pink-haired boy agreed so Jungkook focused on getting everything done. It was the first time he was cooking that type of soup as he was rarely catching colds himself but he hoped it would end up delicious because his boyfriend was rather picky when it came to food. He managed to dissolve the medicine inside a cup of tea he took to the bedroom, remembering that he should keep his baby hydrated.
Jimin was still burning when he took the first spoonful of soup and hummed in approval, his pupils ready to dilate. The poor boy must have been famished because he effortlessly ate everything he was given, a whine escaping his lips when Jungkook asked if he wanted more.
"Can't remember the last time someone took care of me like this." The little sigh at the end underlined the meaning behind the words so the man smiled sadly before placing the empty bowl on the nightstand and initiating a cuddling session.
"What about Tae?" Jimin giggled and began playing with the strings on the hoodie the tattoo artist was wearing.
"I think I take care of Tae more than he takes care of me." Maybe it was because he was the hyung – even if it was a difference of only a few months but the truth was that Taehyung was very innocent at heart so he would constantly be affected by things and people surrounding him. Jimin never wanted to see him sad so he always did the best he could to brighten his mood and babied him to no end.
"Your mother?" The question came out hesitant and Jungkook understood he hit a sensitive spot because a sad smile was put on display, the sight of it pulling all the strings of his heart. He never brought up the "family" subject but right then he felt like they were close enough and he was curious to find out what kind of people raised Jimin.
"She won't see me." Ever since he came out and started dressing "feminine" his parents decided they wanted to have nothing in common with him. So they paid for his education with the condition that he would look after himself and never demand to come back home. It was cruel but it was a familiar way of dealing with LGBTQ+ characters in South Korea. "My dad and she knew I was gay but hoped I would stay closeted forever."
He could have lived like that – trapped. He would have probably ended married to some woman his parents would have chosen for him, having a child or two of his own. But how could he accept that when he couldn't stand the idea of touching someone of the opposite gender?
"But you didn't." Jimin's sadness reached his eyes.
"I didn't." He didn't want to go back to them anymore, he didn't spend his nights thinking about them like he used to when he first moved out. Home had a different definition now and as frightening as it was, he wouldn't have a changed a thing at the life he was currently living. "What about your parents?"
"Pff –" Jungkook exhaled loudly before chuckling humourlessly and rubbed his forehead with his right hand. "I don't even want to think about it."
"Okay." The elder loved that his boyfriend never tried to trespass. Hearing the sad confession made him want to share his story too and he came to the conclusion that the context was perfect.
"My dad is a very violent man. I remember being a child and being scared of him because he was always throwing things around and yelling because of the smallest things he didn't agree with." He made a small pause because he could read the shock on his boyfriend's face. "I knew it wasn't normal for him to slap my mom and talk to her like that and the teenage years pushed me over the edge. We were always fighting and I somehow always ended with bruises on my body." His mother never tried to protect him, always reminding him that his father loved him and that was the reason why he was treating him so harshly.
"I'm sorry." Jungkook shook his head and grabbed a small hand to place a peck on its wrist.
"You have nothing to be sorry for. Shitty parents are a thing unfortunately." He became friends with Yoongi by mistake, during his rebellious period. Thankfully, his hyung was already into tattoos, working on his little project of a parlour so he offered him not only a job but a place where to crash too. "I just left."
"I'm happy you did." Jimin whispered and pressed their mouths together into a soft kiss. He was still feeling sick but he was glad to be held so dearly against his lover's chest. He pulled away when he realised he could share his sickness and hid his face in the crook of the neck in front of him. "It's only you and me, isn't it?"
"You and me against the world, kitten." The cheesy line made the student giggle and the sound tugged at Jungkook's lips. They spent what felt like hours simply talking until Jimin fell asleep once again, knocked out by the medicine that was also the reason for which he woke up soaked in sweat. His heartbeat increased in pace when he saw Jungkook was not by his side but felt relieved when his eyes found him sitting at his working desk, his hands focused on creating.
"Kookie?" The taller man immediately turned around and pushed his round glasses higher on his nose.
"Hey, angel." He realised how sweaty his boyfriend was when the latter asked if he could have a bath so he helped him towards the bathroom. He grabbed the pink box he placed inside the closet and offered it to his baby so he would pick one bath bomb that was on his liking. He wasn't surprised when the rainbow one was grabbed and helped his lover inside the filled tub before grabbing a change of clean clothes and a towel.
"Bath with me?"
"No but I will wash you, how does that sound?" It was perfect because he was familiar with the gentleness behind every move. He still couldn't believe such a kind human being could be born out of violence but he was grateful for every tender touch. "You forgot to bring your rubber duck."
"Aren't you bothered that I bring so many things over?"
"Nope." Jungkook's fingers began gently massaging his neck, rubbing the fruity-smelling shower gel on his skin. "It makes me feel less lonely because they remind me that you'll come by soon."
"Have you ever lived with someone else?" The hands slipped down his back and sides, following the same path.
"Someone I was in a relationship with?" His nose scrunched at the idea and Jimin would have giggled if he wouldn't have felt so anxious. It was selfish of him but he wanted to be the only one having such a special place in Jungkook's heart. "Not really. I can't say I had a serious relationship before, I always kept people at arm's length. That's why I became such a renowned Dominant, I enjoy exact things and discipline."
"That doesn't sound like us." The tattoo artist chuckled and rinsed his hands of bubbles before cupping his boyfriend's face and initiating a slow kiss.
"We're a bit of a mess, Min." Their noses brushed affectionately. "But I love it."
