8 Elderly man
A shock wave blasted outwards disintegrating the wooden huts and knocking down the ancient trees in the surroundings!
The village head flew backwards as blood seeped from his orifices, his body started to convulse as he stared wide eyed at Will's location.
Bam!
Slamming into an ancient tree, the village head shuddered a few times as his eyes went unfocused, still staring in Will's direction.
He breathed his last breath.
In the center of the shockwave, a light dust cloud slowly disappeared as a huge bulky figure could be seen standing in front of Will's severely tattered body.
Silence finally filled the village.
Standing there was an elderly man, with white hair and snow white eyebrows, he had a bulky body you wouldn't expect someone his age to have.
He knelt down and grabbed Will's wrist as he checked the condition of his body, letting out a sigh after a few minutes, he put his wrist back down.
"Still alive, barely"
Turning around, his eyes landed on Elizabeth, his eyes widened as he quickly dashed over.
"Wife!"
His movements caused dust clouds to lift up once again as he ran over to Elizabeth.
His steps sounded like an elephant stomping on the ground.
With a shudder, Elizabeth sat up as her pale face looked over towards the elderly man running towards her.
"You're back!"
As she stood up she threw a worried glance in the direction of Will as she stumbled forward, her injuries were still acting up.
The elderly man caught her, grabbing her wrist he frowned, "Your injuries again.."
"It's okay, are your injuries alright?"
Elizabeth grabbed her husband's wrist to check his condition as she frowned, glaring at him.
"Stop acting tough, you need to rest!"
The elderly man looked at his wife as he shook his head, his face paled slightly as he brought them both over to Will, looking at his bloodied figure he looked at his wife, "Are we going to help a rejected?"
"Isn't that what I am supposed to ask you?"
Elizabeth looked at her husband as she smiled a little.
Looking at Will, the elderly man sighed as he grabbed him, "I ask you because you're the only one that can make medicine, otherwise, in my opinion he's too much of a risk"
"I can make enough medicine for him to use alongside the medicine we need, why would you let this young man die like this?"
Looking around at all the dead villagers, he sighed at the sight of the children, with their smaller bodies they suffered even worse deaths.
"If you say so, but if he gives me the slightest reason I will kill him, after all, you can't say he is innocent now, even if he was before"
Looking at Elizabeth tend to Will, the elderly man sighed, "Since you are the only one that can make medicine, if you say we should help him, I guess we should but we will only help him for two months then I will toss him wherever we happen to be and leave him on his own"
Elizabeth nodded to her husband agreeing with what he said.
Scratching his head he looked at Elizabeth, 'Ah, if she didn't know medicine, she would have left the kid here just like I would, ah, well I'm okay with helping the kid, but I will throw him out after two months whether she agrees or not, that kid can't stay near us that long"
Turning around, he headed to their hut at the other side of the village, the only one that remained standing after the shock wave, 'Even if we will die this year, I don't want the last of my days to be so chaotic I just want to live the rest of my days peacefully with the woman I love'
This wasn't mentioned before, ugh, who am I? That's top secret, I can't tell you. The only reason Elizabeth lived was because she was lying down, the fog floated off the ground, so she barely avoided it. The relationship between the elderly couple? Duh, husband and wife, she is in charge of anything medicine related, that's why the elderly man asked if they were taking care of Will, because he was severely wounded, otherwise the elderly man would have left Will to struggle in the forest on his own. The elderly man?
Well, he is in control of everything else, he is the man of the house after all.
Now I'll go back to spying on and narrating Will's life...
The elderly man, arrived at the remaining wooden hut, looking at the shimmering barrier, he smiled.
Removing the barrier, he stepped into the hut to look at his sleeping grandson.
"I'm glad the rest of the family is in the city, otherwise our children and the rest of our grandchildren would have died today"
Scratching his beard he sat down on the side of the bed as he touched his grandson's forehead, "Grow up strong Matt, after we pass, as the oldest you'll have to protect the rest of your siblings, as our grandson, you must cause mayhem and show your might for the world to see!"
Reminiscing about the past, he laughed, back then before they both got injured, Elizabeth was a high level mage.
Although possessing weaker close combat strength, she was still the strongest between the two of them.
She mastered the hard to learn close range magics, 'Flying sword' and 'Earthen warrior'
'Flying sword' was a flying sword that would attack enemies at near the speed of light, sending heads flying before anyone could react.
The 'Earthen warrior' summoned stone warriors from the ground that would fight for the caster.
Those two spells allowed her to get rid of the weakness all mages suffer from, making her more powerful in close, mid, and long-range combat.
Sadly, he was only a trashy (according to the high and mighty mages) warrior. They couldn't even bother to look his direction.
Except for her, they knew each other before she became a mage, and even after all that, Elizabeth still treated him like she always has.
They loved each other since they were children, the love never faded, even after she became a "all powerful" mage.
It just took him a little over ten years to confess his feelings to her..
Just ten years..
He was the strongest warrior, he could always defeat her in close ranged combat, even if she fixed her weakness by learning those spells, a mage will always struggle with close combat.
After realizing all of this, he would handle the close combat, and also make time for her to complete her spells.
They were the only mage and warrior that would actually get along, a terrifying couple.
A couple that wiped out the whole empire of that time.
The injuries that Elizabeth sustained, the ones that shortened her lifespan? It was because the attack that caused it was meant for him.
She took it to save his life, he only suffered a small portion of the attack.
Although her injuries are worse between the two, she worries about his injuries the most.
"Is it because I continue to train even if I end up vomiting blood?"
Shaking his head, he looked at his grandson as he started to head outside, "Speaking of which, I should go train!"
Outside the hut a bunch of shouting started up almost instantly.
"What are you doing husband!?"
"I I'm training!"
"You're injuries are acting up *cough* why don't you worry about you health!"
"What are you doing woman *cough!* let go of me!"
"No!"
"I want to train!"
"Not in your condition!"
Cough! Cough! Cough! Cough!
Following the shouting, a series of coughing from both people echoed through the destroyed village.
