Chapter 29: Im A New System!
It was not like he wanted to see the man experience pain and enjoy it. He wanted to see if only he experienced pain while recieving the knowledge... Well, it's like, how do I describe it, you know when you recieve your marks in a test, and you get low in them? The first thing you do is check if your friends got high or low like you, right? Well most of you should do that atleast. Or is it only me...?
The man started shivering and twitching furiously, and John did not know why, but he felt a sense of satisfaction and pleasure in his heart. He felt like hitting himself. That was his friend and companion suffering and he felt satisfied?! What the hell was he doing?! But he couldn't stop feeling satisfied anyway.
While John was struggling with his emotions, Harry on the other hand, was talking with Rae.
"Just what are the different experiences people have before recieving the knowledge?", asked Harry.
"Well it depends. Some people have nightmares, some experience immense pain, some, well I really don't know. Anything that's uncomfortable and leaves a lasting impression on them will definitely happen before 'recieving' the knowledge.", Rae explained.
"Why though?", asked Harry. This was a question that has been bugging Harry from a lot of time. Just why do people have to experience pain to recieve the knowledge?
Rae smiled and said, "I really don't know."
"How do you not know about your own items?", Harry asked with utter confusion.
"Hey! I'm a new system! It's not like we're born with experience and knowledge!", Rae said.
Harry looked at her incredulously.
Rae, noticing his gaze felt her face heat up. She knew why he was looking at her like that. A system that could grant others knowledge and experience does not have them when it's born? That sounds ridiculous doesn't it? She stuttered, "J- Just because I'm a system doesn't mean that I've got to have all the knowledge in the world! J- Just because I can give injectables containing experience, it doesn't mean I've got to have it!"
Harry still stared at her incredulously and said, "I kind of think that that's one of the requirements of a system, isn't it?"
Rae stayed silent. She felt totally discriminated here. He had such biased opinions about systems. Well what he was saying was not wrong technically, but ALL SYSTEMS DO NOT NEED TO BE THE SAME.
She really needed to go get some experience, didn't she?
Harry waited for a reply from Rae while looking at the man who was shivering from pain.
Harry really wondered if he was a sociopath sometimes. He would feel no empathy for others unless he was emotionally connected with them.
Only if he loved or liked someone would he treat them as a human. Others were all objects to him, waiting to be played with. He felt no sympathy for the man. He kind of enjoyed watching him shivering with pain.
