“Maria, what are you whispering about?”
After chatting, Mr. Wilson walked over with a smile while holding a glass of red wine. He looked at the mother and daughter who were whispering. “Where do the two of you want to go after the banquet? I’ll personally take you there!”
Clearly, Mr. Wilson was in a good mood after chatting with his friend.
“Ah.. Master, you’re here.” For some reason, Mrs. Wilson seemed to be panicking.
At the side, Maria avoided his eyes and did not speak. However, her eyes occasionally looked in a certain direction at the banquet, as if she was afraid of something.
Their reaction made Wilson frown. He followed their gaze and saw the girl in the crowd.
The girl was extremely beautiful!
She was wearing a beautiful white dress. The back of the dress was designed to be connected by a thread, revealing a large part of her back.
The design was bold but eye-catching.
However, when the girl’s face was revealed, Mr. Wilson’s eyes widened. He blinked hard as if he couldn’t believe it and the hand with which he was holding the wine glass trembled.
Why did this young girl.. look a little like her other daughter who didn’t come?
After some careful observation, he finally confirmed that this was his other daughter, Jocelyn. Suddenly, he became a little angry.
“How dare she come to the banquet dressed like that? She probably wants to find a rich husband here so that she can get rid of us.” Wilson thought.
Noticing the look of displeasure on his face, Mrs. Wilson quickly added, “Master, I guess Jocelyn didn’t do it on purpose. Although that dress is Maria’s most expensive one, it’s understandable that girls are vain.”
“What? That dress is Maria’s?” The already angry Mr. Wilson was about to explode. He had never liked his daughter, but he did not expect her to be such a thief and a snob
The next second, Mr. Wilson strode forward, suppressed his anger, and walked towards Jocelyn.
Seeing that their plan had succeeded, Maria secretly gave Mrs. Wilson a thumbs up and a meaningful smile appeared on her face.
“Humph, let’s see what she can do now. The good show is yet to come!” Maria smiled and walked slowly towards Jocelyn with a glass of red wine in her hand. Mrs. Wilson followed closely behind.
“Jocelyn!” A furious voice was heard. Jocelyn turned around with a glass of wine in her hand, only to find her father walking over angrily. Thinking of what happened back at home, she felt even more resentful.
From behind her father, she saw Maria and her mother walking over slowly. It was not difficult for the smart Jocelyn to guess that her father was provoked by something they told him again.
“Didn’t I tell you to stay at home and reflect on yourself? Why are you here at the banquet?” There was displeasure on his face.
The distinguished guest standing at the side was shocked when they saw such a beauty getting shouted at.
Jocelyn nodded at her father and explained gently in a low voice, “Mr. Brown invited the Wilsons, so it would be rude if I didn’t come.”
Seeing this, Wilson’s anger dissipated a little. He opened his mouth and reprimanded, “Then you shouldn’t have worn Maria’s most expensive dress. Taking without asking is no different from stealing.”
When the guests heard that, they immediately looked at Jocelyn with disdain.
Such a good-looking girl was actually a thief!
“Father, are you sure?” No matter how good-tempered Jocelyn was, there was finally anger in her eyes. “Maria stole my dress, and I had to ask my friend for help in order to get me a new one. What makes you think I’m a thief? Or have you never believed in your daughter?”
Jocelyn finally stood up for herself after all these years of endurance. Burning anger could be seen in her gentle eyes. She pursed her lips tightly. Even when she was angry, she still looked pretty.
Hearing the commotion, the guests gradually gathered around Jocelyn, and Maria and her mother hurried over too.
“What did you say? I stole your dress? Everyone, come and judge. Does the dress I’m wearing look like Miss Jocelyn’s?” Maria shouted.
“I made every stitch and thread of that dress with my own hands. Everyone can look at my design sketch. It’s at home!” Jocelyn explained with a frown..
