16 Chapter 16 - Interlude Part 2
The next night when Seras wakes up naturally, she goes directly to Integra's office and knocks on the door.
"Come in." Integra says.
As Seras opens the door, Integra doesn't look up and she speaks afterwards.
"Walter, can you call Captain Fargason tomorrow and tell him to meet me here at 10 O'Clock sharp?"
As she doesn't here any reply, she looks up and sees Seras just staring at her while her chin is on top of her two arms, leaning on the edge of the desk.
"Seras? I'm sorry, I thought you were Walter?"
"It's fine, you're extremely busy all the time, huh?" She says and then questions.
"Yes, this is the price of being the head of Hellsing." Integra sighs as she pinches her nose with her index and thumb.
"You look exhausted, sir Integra. Oh! I got a great idea, why don't we go out tomorrow night and have some fun? Just the two of us." Seras asks with hope.
"I can't Seras! I'm too occupied with work." Integra says while showing a wanting face.
"Aha! So you do want to! Walter?"
As soon as Seras says this Walter comes in with a knowing smile.
"Walter! What is happening here?"
"Nothing ma'am, Seras just told me that you would want to go out with her and have fun. I said you wouldn't, but I guess I was wrong. Don't worry about your work, I can handle the small things for tomorrow. Why don't you go out with Seras and experience the life of a normal person?"
"I told you I can't, there is too much to do!"
"Pleeaaaassseeee? Who knows when you can actually do it. Being spontaneous is a good thing!" Seras begs.
As Integra sees both Walter and Seras' expression she knows that she won't be able to talk her way out so she reluctantly agrees.
"Ugh, fine! Well go tomorrow night at 8PM, is that ok?"
"Yay! Make sure to take a nap before then, we're going to be out for a while!" Seras skips out of the office.
"What am I going to do with her Walter? She is very childish." Integra sighs.
"Don't worry ma'am, Seras is a very good planner, she already told me what she is going to do and where. She included times as well.
"Really? She doesn't seem so methodical?" Integra asks.
"Trust me, she could send MI-6 down a wild goose chase, if she so wishes." Walter says with a satisfied smile.
"Well then. I guess I'm going out tomorrow, ready the guards for it."
"I'm sorry ma'am, but you're not going to need guards."
"Why? What if something happens?"
"Did you forget who you're going with, ma'am? Seras is more then enough for what human bodyguards can deal with, even if she is incredibly weak." Walter smiles wryly.
"Yes, you're right. Her actions always make me forget what she is."
"Isn't that a good thing, ma'am?" Walter replies.
"Hmph, I guess." Integra says while getting back to her papers.
Whenever you wait for something, time always seem to move slowly. Eventually though it gets there. Around 7:30 Seras is waiting outside of Integra's office wearing the same kind of clothes as 2 days ago, but the colors are reversed.
About 20 minutes later, Integra walks out in clothes Seras didn't know she had. She is wearing all expansive brands, but with the same style as Seras. Jeans, tank top, and a loose shirt.
"Wow! You look beautiful sir Integra!" Seras compliments her.
"Shut up! Where are we going tonight? Walter said I should dress like this, even though I wanted to wear my normal suit." Integra complains weakly.
"Where we're going, the suit would stick out unnaturally. Plus it's going to be multiple places that the suit is not suited for. Pfft! Hahaha." Seras says and then laughs.
"What's so funny!?"
"Well I said the suit isn't suited for, so I made a pun on accident. Isn't that funny?"
"What's a pun?"
"What!? Sir Integra, you don't know what a pun is?" Seras reacts strongly with a surprised tone.
"No, why? Is it something bad?"
"No, but, gosh I don't even know where to begin."
"What's a pun?"
"A pun is something in which you use the word in a different way in the same sentence. It's an old form of joke."
"A joke? Really?"
"Yes, anyway. Let's go, we don't want to be late." Seras says as she starts pushing Integra to the front doors.
"Wait! Isn't Walter driving us? We have to wait for him."
"No silly! We're taking a taxi! You need to experience these types of things every now and then, Inty."
"What? Wait, Inty? What's that?"
"It's the name I'm going to be calling you for tonight, Integra is well known around the town. Is that not okay?"
"It's fine. It just surprised me, cause that's what my father called me when I was younger."
"I'm sorry, I can try to come up with something else." Seras apologetically says.
"No, it's fine. Let's go."
"Ok!"
As they leave the soldiers that the gate give respectful salutes as they walk past and get in the cab.
"Inty, what are you doing?"
"Obviously I'm waiting for...oh. Sorry, I forgot Walter isn't here to open my door for me." Integra says and then blushes before continuing.
"Hahahahahaha, so cute."
"Shut up!" Integra yells as she gets in with Seras.
As they're riding in the cab, Integra asks Seras what she and Alucard did a couple nights ago.
"Well, we first went to the movie theatre, then we went to a pub and drank some wine. After that we went mini golfing and then walked around town until we went back home."
"Really? That doesn't sound like anything Alucard would like? Did he have a tantrum?"
"At the theatre he did, but he had fun after that."
"Why did he get angry at the theatre?"
"You'll see." Seras smiles.
After the taxi gets to the same place as her time with Alucard. Integra gets out and the first thing she notices is the poster. She is shocked as well, before she starts laughing hysterically.
"I know, isn't it hilarious!? He was so angry that the surroundings started shaking." She laughs with Integra for a solid 30 seconds before they stop.
"Oh my god! I want to thank whoever made this personally."
"I know right? Anyway this was only a stop, we're going to be going to the bowling alley across the street over there." She says as she points to the lanes.
"Bowling? Are you talking about the sport that you throw a ball at pins?"
"Bingo! It's a good start to you're introduction to normal human life."
An hour and a half later both Seras and Integra are coming out of the building with a trophy. The trophy shows a man bowling, and a plaque that states perfect scorer. With both of their names on it.
"I can't believe how good you were Inty! To get a perfect score from bowling your second game, that takes some serious skill!" Seras praises.
"Hah! All it is is repetitive movement, I can't believe the crowd that formed around us though."
"That's because seeing two beautiful women bowl perfect scores has probably never happened before, that's why the manager let us out without paying."
"What does us having to do perfect scores help him?"
"Well, hmm. How do I explain this? Have you ever studied business?"
"Of course!"
"Ok so you know about how goods and services get advertised, right?"
"Sort of."
"Well there are different ways to advertise products and services. Television, Radio, Magazine, Newspapers, and finally Word of mouth."
"What just happened is a classic word of mouth situation, people will talk about us for a couple weeks which will spread to other nearby areas and then it will become a rumor. When it becomes a rumor, it stays and people hear about it all the time from then on."
"What good does that do him?"
"Well if you heard that there was a vampire somewhere, what is your first thought?"
"Of course its to go there and eradicate it!"
"See? Even if you don't know it's true, you still have a subconscious desire to go anyway. Since you're so intelligent, Inty, you wait until there is proof. But not all people are that intelligent or have the same resources. They just go if it interests them, which it usually does."
"Ah! So, us getting perfect scores let's that man's business increase revenue?"
"Correct!"
"Ok, where to next, Seras?" Integra asks with a happy smile that hasn't been around for years.
"Where going to the ice cream parlor next!"
"Ice cream?"
"Please don't tell me you don't what ice cream is!?"
"No, I do. I just never had it before."
"There is a first time for everything, Inty!" Seras says as she pulls her arm.
Hours later, Seras and Integra are waiting for the cab to show up so they can leave. There are sitting on a bench while waiting. Seras is still holding the trophy while Integra has a golden putter in her hand.
"I can't believe you got all hole-in-ones at the mini gold place! Master was terrible at it and practically cheated his way through." Seras laughs while amazed.
"Really? For a vampire who has lived 500 years, he sure isn't that diverse." Integra laughs as well.
While they're laughing to each other, Seras notices a few people's footsteps have stopped equal distances away from them. Her face is still the same, but she clenches her hands ready to fight it out. As she does, Integra notices that something has happened and her face shows the normal indifferent look.
As soon as her face changes, two knives come hurling torward Seras' head. Just as they're about to hit her, they are grabbed simultaneously with one hand. One knife is in between the index and middle finger and the other is in between the middle and ring finger. The two figures notice this and both lunge at them a time the same time to try and catch her.
Seras' eyes turn red and the figures start moving slowly in her perception. She notices that they're wearing the Iscariot uniform and crosses at their neck. She waits for what seems like forever and then tosses the knives right as they're about to get to her. Both knives are then embedded into their foreheads as they tumble to the floor.
To Integra, everything happened in less than 2 seconds from when the knives were thrown to their eventual death.
"Iscariot!? What the hell were they doing here?"
"Calm down, sir Integra! They were probably sent here as spies to track our movements."
"Then why did they attack? It doesn't make sense unless they were given the order to."
"It's probably because they figured out that I'm a vampire. As you know, their motto is 'kill on sight' when it comes to us" Seras sighs as the taxi comes back to pick them up.
"Was it just them tonight?"
"Yes, they were following us the whole time and I didn't sense anyone else." Seras replies firmly.
"Good! Let's go home before anything else happens." Integra says as she gets up from the bench.
"Yes sir."
After the thirty minute ride home, Seras and Integra are walking torward the gate of her estate.
"Today was a lot of fun Seras. I don't remember the last time I let loose and did something that was relaxing."
"I'm glad you enjoyed it, Inty!" Seras replies seriously and then says her nickname in a weird way.
"Don't call me that when we're here! It makes me look weak!" Integra says seriously.
"Don't worry, they can't hear us." She replies with a smile.
"We have to do this again, Seras. It really was what I needed." Integra smiles gently before hardening her expression as they approach the gate closer.
