Chapter 37 - Easily Resolved!
Chapter 37 Easily Resolved!
After almost a day’s travel, the two finally arrived at their destination.
Having been attacked by the demons, emergency measures had been taken. Everyone was ordered to stay at home and was not allowed to leave the house without orders from above.
As such, there was no one on the streets. Their carriage passed through the empty city and headed straight for the wild. There was no time for small talk now. The local Mage Council had already joined forces with several major forces in the city. They had set up an alert zone next to the Gates of Hell in the wild.
“Oh my! You must be Orianna! You’re finally here! The situation now can be said to be very critical. I’m really sorry that you guys have to directly start doing the job right after you came all the way from the Imperial City! Many apologies!”
“Things like a celebratory feast should wait until it’s really time to celebrate. I’m here to solve problems, not to take a vacation,” Orianna was probably used to hearing such meaningless flattery, so she walked straight into the camp.
The Gates of Hell were marked to be three kilometers away from the camp, and from here, they could see the smoke there.
“We’ve already set up a barrier around all the combustibles, so the flames can’t reach us
yet.”
“The low-level demons shouldn’t have evolved to have wings yet. If those demons with wings were to invade, these guys probably wouldn’t be able to handle them at all,” Li Huan muttered in his heart.
Orianna had already started casting spells beside him.
There was no time to lose now. She prepared all her equipment, and with a single command, everyone marched towards the Gates of Hell.
As soon as they stepped through the blockade, terrifying roars were heard. The demons in the blockade sensed the aura of humans, and all of them let out terrifying roars!
Orianna was the only one who suffered a fright. The other voluntary warriors had more or less faced the demons a few times, and the same went for Li Huan as well. If this was in the past, he would not even look at such a monster properly.
As such, this was a first for only Orianna. This was the first time she had truly faced a monster from a different plane.
A terrifying aura of death rushed towards her from all directions. Two magic arrays appeared in front of Li Huan, then the Skeleton King appeared with its soldiers, while Rielle appeared with her bow and arrows.
The grass and trees around them began to burn. Li Huan knew that the Red Demon’s flame of Hell did not need a medium to burn. They could directly summon flames anywhere within the area of their control!
Orianna nodded. With a wave of the divine equipment in her hand, everyone was equipped with a light shield.
With that, a new buff appeared on everyone’s status bar, Holy Protection.
Rielle immediately drew her bow and shot an arrow directly into the dense forest in the distance. Following this, a demon fell to the ground.
“Go! We have the protection of the holy water now! There’s nothing to be afraid of! Kill the demons first! Guard the Gates of Hell and put out the fire!” Li Huan was probably the only one among them who had rich experience in fighting demons. With his order, everyone seemed to be energized.
“Although these demons look like they have some combat power, they’re actually just a few weaklings without any skills! It’s just that their stats are a little higher than the average person’s!”
If these demons were calculated according to levels, they were all around level 25. As long as one was not too panicked when facing these demons, with the protection of the holy water, no casualties would be caused.
“With the Gates of Hell of such a low level, they won’t be able to produce many demons in a short time! Hurry Up!”
As the people fought, they were shocked as well. Not only had the Imperial City sent a Holy Priest to suppress the demons, but they have also sent a Summoner who was experienced in dealing with demons?
By now, everyone had already started to narrow down the encirclement. Orianna had also seen the true appearance of the Red Demons!
Li Huan was right. These Red Demons were only in their initial stages. They were only half the height of a human, but their bodies were emitting strange flames as they bared their fangs and ran toward the humans.
Rielle’s superb shooting skills were fully displayed here. Countless little demons fell one after another under her archery skills.
However, Li Huan was quite aware that demons were not brainless. The ranks during the invasion of demons were very meticulous. These little demons were only cannon fodder. If he wanted to get more resources, he had to find the big demons behind them!
Under everyone’s continuous attacks, the Gates of Hell were right before their eyes. As Li Huan had expected, the scale of these Gates of Hell was not too large, and the gates’ production and teleportation efficiency of the small demons weren’t high. With the presence of a Holy Priest like Orianna, solving this problem could be said to be a piece of cake.
Orianna did not stay idle either. She quickly extinguished the burning flames of Hell. The little demons already possessed some intelligence. They knew that the young woman before them was their absolute nemesis.
With Orianna’s protection, as if they had God’s help, all the demons, big and small, were all killed. The Gates of Hell were also successfully guarded. After Orianna finished casting her spell, this incident was considered resolved.
The reward for the mission had already been distributed to his backpack. This time, not only had he played a role in killing the enemies in the battle, but he had also played an extremely important role in commanding. As such, he had almost received the full reward for this mission.
“I didn’t expect it! Li Huan! To think you have such a deep understanding of demons? Although I’ve done my homework, I see that you seem to know more than the rest of us!”
After sealing the Gates of Hell, everyone cheered in unison. Only Li Huan remained calm.
“I’ve only read about it in books.”
“Sure. If you have any requests, feel free to mention them to me. I’ll do my best to help you,” Orianna looked at the Gates of Hell that was turning into ashes under her holy water, and pretended to say this unintentionally.
“Please don’t worry, respected member of the Council. I’m not that kind of person,” Li Huan could, of course, read between the lines as he answered without hesitation.
Orianna smiled and patted Li Huan’s shoulder. She still couldn’t completely trust him with just one sentence, but this young man who was about the same age as her seemed really different from those people of all walks of life.
She would trust him for the time being.
