The Sovereign of Death

Even after Beta gave his instruction, Furie still didn't move away from the corpse and continued ripping the corpse apart as if it was paper. Beta was quite interested in this change and at the same time worried. His experiment might not have gone right this time again after all.

"Did she go crazy as well? She was still fine earlier though... Maybe it's a kind of temporary berserk mode? Plus, it looked more like her combat was a defensive function. I will just have to see if she can regain her cool after some time and experiment on what kind of circumstances that trigger it.", Beta thought, holding his index finger and thumb to his chin.

Beta then entered the arena through a wall that suddenly disappeared and walked closer to Furie, who was now sitting in a puddle of ground meat and blood. The moment she noticed him, she jumped towards him, extending her nails, trying to slit his throat. It seemed that she was still not satisfied and wanted to vent more of her frustration.

"Hmpf.. You can't tell between allies and foes anymore? You also have no sense for strength left with your body's state. It's a bit disappointing, to say the least.", Beta commented while shaking his head.

Though Beta knew that his experiment was not perfect, he didn't want to give up on his idea of integrating beast parts to humans. So, instead of disposing of Furie's body right away like what he did with his other failed experiments, he still gave her a chance to try out a series of test. Not being able to recognize Beta even after he complained about her, she still continued her attack. But before she could reach him, a simple chop on her head made her fall straight down. Due to her shorter arms, she wasn't even able to touch him before eating the dirt, quite literally.

"She's gotten more tenacious, hasn't she? I will just put her on her bed for now. There shouldn't be any problems with her health aside from going berserk if provoked. I'll just check on her later once she has rested enough and back to her own senses. Also, I should probably clean this mess up... Hmm.. Actually, it might not be too bad for her to see this... I'll have her clean it up so that she will get used to blood and gore like this. She will need to go through the same process again and it would be such a pain to calm her down. Within all that time of waiting... I'll just train too. It should be about time to catch my legs soon." After Beta cleaned up Furie's body, he carefully settled her down in her room and quickly created a room for himself as he sat down on his own bed, where he entered the Void World.

Furie, who was on her own bed, had her body twitching in a mysterious manner that Beta didn't take notice of.

Sometime later, someone entered the underground base. Beta's eyes immediately shot open. In a flash, he appeared at the entrance and looked at who arrived here so suddenly.

"Oh? Did you find him?", Beta asked.

"Yes, we also contacted our boss. He will be here shortly.", Kiev answered.

"Good job. Let's go. Oh! By the way, there's a girl in the room over there. Give her some food every now and then and teach her a bit about what we taught you.", Beta said, smiling, at the same time handing over a bunch of coins.

"That won't be a problem. Shouldn't we wait for boss though?", Kiev asked confused.

"Why wait? He's already here." Without turning back, Beta left the hideout and met Brian, who was already waiting for him.

"I haven't seen you in a few days and you've already grown stronger, Brian.", Beta said happily.

"Right back at you? Who told you to get even stronger than before? I was hoping to catch up to you, but as it seems, I need to put in more effort. Especially, after today..", Brian commented while taking the lead.

Kiev had told Brian already the location where to find Gepard. So, there was no problem with him leading the way. Beta shook his body a little and followed right after him. They didn't say much since it has only been a few days since they have seen each other. Even on their way to Gepard's location, the only thing they talked about was training. They were both training maniacs after all so they didn't find it hard to keep the conversation going.

Several days later, Beta and Brian finally arrived next to a forest. The trees were unusually high and the bushes on the ground seemed to be hiding danger. Beta created a little void arrow and shot it towards a certain spot in a bush. No noise followed this, but the feeling of being watched disappeared shortly after. Within the bush that Beta had shot at, was a rat with half of its body missing.

"So, he's in a beast forest for training, huh? I guess it will still take a while to find him in here. We also need to set up some traps if we want to catch someone who's known for his great leg speed. Well, it's no problem though, I've got some runes that can help out with that. A simple pitfall may also be of more use than one would think. Even if it's not for him, it would definitely help us against some beast that might come to chase us after we started our hunt. While we're here, we may as well train a bit too. It would be bad if he trained enough in here to be stronger than us after all.", Beta said in one breath to Brian.

He quickly planned the whole hunt and started to draw a map of his vicinity. Knowing the terrain better than your enemy is part of strength. If they want to beat someone who has been in here for weeks, they will need to put in more effort than usual. On the other hand, if they found something that they couldn't take care of directly, they would be able to place a mark on the map, indicating that there was a point of interest as well as a reminder for later purposes.

In a forest like this, there should be herbs around that Beta needed for his experiments or interesting beasts that he could use to create a small army of soldiers. Though it will take him time to perfect his creations, at least, he is capable of creating disposable ones now. The more experiments he'll do in the future, the more he can adjust his learnings and apply it to Furie and himself if possible. Getting stronger on his own was not a problem but there will be cases where he will need minions to do his biddings.

Beta can, of course, raise his strength by creating new weapons. His arsenal at the moment were already top notch compared to other weapons but in the future, he planned to recreate some weapons his father used to own. He loves hidden weapons which can clearly be seen by the 'staff/scythe' he was carrying. So, he had already decided that some hidden elements in his body that could surprise an opponent in an important battle would be a great trump card someday. Therefore, if his hidden weapons aren't enough, a backup small army for himself would definitely be needed for his future plans.

Beta and Brian walked through the forest for days placing traps, gathering herbs, and fighting beasts. It was a life they knew very well and actually made them feel nostalgic about the forest they lived in for a while. Just after they killed a brown horse-like animal, of which they knew that great sausages could be made out of, they heard a noise from further away. They put rejoicing away for later and crept up towards the noise. There, they saw a youth who didn't seem to be much older than them fighting against a beast.

Beta and Brian looked at each other as they both whispered the same word. "Bingo!"
