The Story of a Protoss

4 Awake and Alive

[First – Person]

My eyelids shudder and I slowly open my eyes. What greets me is an expanse of grass and flowers. In front of me lies the leftover dried up carcass of what used to be a membrane. While I'm turning my head to observe my surroundings I notice that the previous muscle pain and burning feeling in my throat has disappeared. While turning I slowly sit up and check to see whether or not my body is fully present and functional. Something I consider more than important.

While looking down on myself I notice that there are two protrusions on my chest and that weird thing between my legs is missing.

(So I'm a woman or a girl since I'm still young.)

The next thing I should do is check my physical strength and energy absorption. I lean on my arms and slowly stand up to prevent myself from falling on the ground, due to insufficient control over my body. While slowly standing up I notice that I can now control my body in a way that allows me to exhibit full control. My muscles seem to react to my thoughts in what could be considered lightning speed.

Now no longer afraid of accidents I proceed to jump and stretch my body to become more familiar with it and test my physical capabilities as I already checked my spiritual. Obviously, that was the wrong decision since my eyes were promptly overcome by a temporary darkness due to my quick actions. Apparently, your body has to first adjust itself to spontaneous moment, especially if you haven't moved in a while and this is my first "real" movement, as otherwise, the blood supply in your brain is insufficient. But doesn't this defeat the principle of ?spontaneous movement"?

(Guess I can think about this later)

After slowly standing back up I try my ?routine" again, just slightly slower and more controlled.

I stretch my left arm to the right over my throat and gently push near my wrist towards behind me. I repeat it with the right arm and turn to my legs.

Upon doing so I notice ?something" next to me imitating my movements. While turning my head and being on alert, I observe the little creature and check in my memories for information about this being.

I notice that this ain't as easy as I thought it would be. Despite this being only the first batch of memories, the sheer amount is immense. All kinds of miscellaneous information for daily situations and activities. Information about plants and animals as well as weak points, recipes and the geographical information about parts of the world. All these information have to be filtered and learned as otherwise the time to find the specific information is massive.

(Isn't there an easier way to do this. Some kind of assistance? There is? Wait this is weird? This memory is from a Protoss who once lived on a planet called earth. What is this? A computer? Ohhh. This is actually amazing. They don't have any kind of energy manipulation but still managed to become the dominant species on their planet. Oh well, ok, the planet is rather small. But this Computer is usable. So I have to build an electronic mechanism inside my brain that connects various parts of my brain with the external information in form of a database. So my synaptic connections could act like a database. I hope my neurotransmitter can handle that.

Now I need something that is apparently called an interface or HUD. Oh, this looks good. Small, precise and it seems to help with evolution procedures and various information based actions. A system seems to be the right choice. Now a name for the system....we keep it plain and easy. Protoss 1.0 it is. Now to finish this I need to split a part of my spiritual energy and infuse it with all my memories and build an artificial intelligence around it.)

[Third – Person]

While the female Protoss was standing on the grass patch and blankly staring towards, basically nothing, the small squirrel was curious about its new neighbor. The other being was standing there blankly staring and the squirrel started to think that maybe the other being was retarded. It was standing there for 10 minutes now, doing nothing but standing still and mumbling about something. Furthermore, before its absentminded state, it was jumping around and doing weird movements as if....well as if whatever it was doing. It followed its movement since it thought that maybe it was saying hello but now the squirrel was doubting that.

While it continued to ponder about the weird antics of the other being, the Protoss suddenly fell to the ground, as if a puppet with its strings cut. The squirrel got scared and hurried to hide behind a protruding rock and closely observed the now motionless body of the Protoss. After a few minutes passed the squirrel deemed the situation safe and slowly moved towards the Protoss. Suddenly an idea hit the squirrel. The small squirrel started to run towards the interior of the cave and shortly afterward returned with a small nut in its hands.

After it arrived it stopped at around four meters away from the motionless body of the Protoss, it suddenly stood up on its hind legs and threw the nut with all its might at the Protoss.

The nut flew like a bullet towards the Protoss's (AN: Can I write this? Protoss's?) head and with a resounding ?Dang", the nut hit its head and plummeted towards the ground. Shortly afterward a red imprint of half a nut appeared on the bald head of the Protoss.

The squirrel wondered why the Protoss did not wake up but in the end decided to ignore the danger and lie down next to the strange weird being since it radiated the same aura as its best friend Stony did, prior to all these weird transformations.

Upon lying down the squirrel proceeded to rub its face on the beings head.

(At least it is not as hard as Stony)

Is what the squirrel thought as it closed its eyes and fell into the warm embrace of a deep and peaceful sleep, a sleep she only had in the warm and caring presence of her only and best friend Stony.
