Evolution Theory of the Hunter

Chapter 115

The ones that were hit directly were turned into ashes while the ones nearby were blackened and fell to the ground.

However, even during this there were monkeys throwing feces.

Soo-ah shouted loudly at me.

“Senior brother! Pig!”

“.... I got it.”

She was telling me to take care of the boars but I don’t think it’s just my imagination that it felt like she was swearing at me.

While I was running between the boars Soo-ah stepped on midair and flew up.

Angel Shoes.

Her agile movements while shooting up to the sky were admirable.

“Wow.”

Yeon-gyeong let out a short exclamation.

[+300]

Once I struck down with the Hunter Greatsword a boar got split right in half and scattered on the ground.

The scream of the boars that would get cut with only a graze, I kept swinging the sword in the blood mist.

The monkeys were soon annihilated by Soo-ah who could fly in the sky while the boars were turned into butchered meat in moments.

It was a very short time but the number of boars that died in my hands numbered ten. It didn’t seem weird for me to get a title called Pig Slaughterer.

The amount of time it took to kill a total of 40 monsters was 10 minutes. There was no one wounded.

“Hah, hah.”

Soo-ah landed on the ground while breathing heavily. Flying in the sky was something that took a lot of stamina. Since she moved so fast on top of that it’s understandable that she’s tired.

“Good work.”

I took out a towel from the backpack and threw it to Soo-ah.

“Senior brother should clean up first. You’ve taken a bath with blood.”

“I just have to wash it off with water.”

I pointed at the lake behind us. To hunt for extended periods of time water was necessary.

Melee warriors like me were often dyed in blood after a single battle after all.

“I just have to wash with water too.”

Splash!

Before I could say anything this girl jumped into the water.

“Hey, we have to check whether there are monsters in there first.”

“I will go check.”

With that she made a round around the lake at incredible speed. The water spray was tremendous. Are you some kind of motorboat.

“All clear! No problems!”

Then she waved her hand at me while leaning on the sandbank and smiling. That girl really has no nervousness does she.

The lake area was a great hunting area as I had thought. Even if we just lit a fire and let out the smell of food monsters would appear frequently enough for us not to get bored.

There was no need to go far to lure them so the reward points, ores, and items were soon stacking up.

“They say first contact with the Chungho Group has just happened.”

The night of the 3rd day since we came into the forest region. After finishing a simple dinner Han Joon-suk said so.

“Yes, I have just checked that as well.”

The news were all busy covering that matter. Using the videos and pictures uploaded on the Hunter Market’s bulletin board they were able to obtain information as if they were at the site themselves.

“About 10 Chungho Group recon corp members were sighted near their main base and died while trying to run away. The government team probably wants to gather information by keeping as many of them alive as possible but they say they had no choice as their resistance was too fierce.”

Soo-ah said so while looking at her smartphone.

It was usually best for this kind of information to not leak out but since there were too many members it was probably impossible to regulate them all.

It wasn’t like they could take the smartphones of the normal hunters that made up more than half of the group.

I didn’t have a good feeling about this. As if she read my expression Soo-ah opened her mouth.

“Is the situation not good?”

“It’s not good. There’s no information on the Chungho Group. The information on the government group is overflowing. I didn’t think they would be unable to regulate the information to this extent.”

“It was something I expected the moment they mobilized normal hunters but.....”

Han Joon-suk rummaged the campfire. The fire that was about to go out became large again.

The work that the government did was usually like that but I didn’t think that they would just not regulate the information at all.

It was possible to figure out what they ate for breakfast if one were to have access to the internet.

By gathering this and that information, it was possible to know their current location and speculate their next move.

It didn’t feel like they were tricking the enemy with false information either. The only thing that could be felt through the descriptions was the certainty of victory.

It seems they’re thinking that they would definitely win since they had greater numbers and hunters with excelling abilities.

However, as a person that fought the Chungho Group before, it felt like far too severe arrogance.

“I have another question.”

Jong Sa-won said.

As time went on his body was becoming skinnier but in inverse proportion to that the light in his eyes were becoming fiercer.

“What is it?”

“It has been over a month since the Chungho Group came into the forest region. If they had diligently hunted during that time then they would have a fair amount of items.”

“It hasn’t been that long since level 3 and 4 monsters started appearing. Isn’t it not enough to change the overall tide of the battle?”

I have thought about the part Jong Sa-won pointed out before.

However, it has been about half a month since level 3 and 4 monsters started appearing.

It was not enough time for the Chungho Group of more than 3,000 members to all have such items.

It was pretty menacing if they had many low level items but it couldn’t match up to one high level item.

“Also, there is the existence of the irregulars. Even just the things the party leader has.....”

“Are you talking about this?”

I took out the ‘the thing’ that he was talking about.

The level 7 Eight Trigrams Scutum. If there were many of such items going around then that would be a problem.

If there were even about 10 of such things the losing side would be able to turn things around.

Of course, it wasn’t like this side didn’t have high level hunters so the actual result could only be found out by clashing.

However, I couldn’t do anything about the bad premonition I was having.

– Just had the second battle. It’s said to be a ambush but bigger than last time. About 200 people ambushed.

– There seems to be little damage. Five died and thirty or so seem to be injured. The enemy seems to have taken about three times the casualties.

– The casualty ratio of 3:1 isn’t bad no?

– It’s like then when purely looking at the numbers but I think it’s bad to say that since some people died.

– Bullshit. This is a war and you expect people not to die?

– But for what reason did the people there go for? There’s no way the government wouldn’t give a lot of money.

– It’s said that the spoils of war are distributed immediately as they appear. If you kill an enemy you just get all their equipment too.

– Looks like their eyes would have become red. Even so, I wouldn’t go even if someone told me to.

– Probably can’t go more than not going.

– Did you go?

– I would have if I was level 3. It would be stupid not to join a war that’s certain to be won.

– I wouldn’t be able to kill a person either way. I feel queasy even while killing monsters.

– Guys like you are the ones that troll in a party. I’m reminded of the coward that cried because he didn’t want to kill a monster.

– You suddenly dissing me? Come to Changchundong underpass. Let’s have a one on one.

– Bullshit. You’re not going to come out after saying so.

On this anonymous bulletin board fights are breaking out easily.

Either way, it doesn’t seem like the situation is going as bad as I thought.

It was a situation that was okay despite the casualty ratio of 3:1 during an ambush.

As the Chungho Group has been living in the forest for a long time and know the terrain better, ambushes should have been taken into account to some degree.

The important point was whether the government team actually prepared against such things but it doesn’t seem like their guard is down that much.

“What are you doing?”

Soo-ah said so after getting off the van and stretching while approaching me.

“Internet.”

“Are you looking at that again? You’re living with that the entire week.”

“I at least have to keep track of how things are going.”

“Hmm~ hello.”

Yeon-gyeong got off the van while yawning.

Thanks to the van, our team was able to sleep comfortably even without camping equipment.

If the seats were leaned back then space enough for 8 people to sleep somewhat comfortably was created.

Although it was definitely expensive, it was doing its money’s worth.

“What about Edward?”

Soo-ah said as she twisted her leg to the back and made it touch her head. Are you some kind of ballerina?

“Should be somewhere. He can’t hunt monsters at that level.”

Edward’s current level was 2. His growth was slow despite the fact that he had gone from level 1 to 2 at once. However, it certainly would be more unusual if he kept growing at that rate.

“Isn’t he more useful than we thought? I didn’t think he would help us in such a manner.”

“I was thinking about adjusting his worth even before you said so.”

Edward did not sleep. Of course he could sleep if he wanted to but he wasn’t a being that needed sleep.

He could also move in the air while he also had a 5 minute invincible avoidance skill as well.

He was a guy that was made to be a night watch.

If I put out Kelby and the goblin I made before there was almost no chance we would get surprise attacked in the middle of the night.

“Good morning.”

Cho Young-gu came out of the van while rubbing his eyes and walked into the lake while only wearing his undergarments.

That was that guy’s way of washing up in the morning. He would go into the water and wash up in a simple manner and come out.

Soo-ah frowned.

“Seriously, look at Joon-suk older brother and learn from him. Do you really have to be like that when there are girls here as well?”

“I got it. I will come out wearing clothes next time.”

“What. If you’re disturbed then you should just turn away your head.”

Manager Kim came out wearing the same things as Cho Young-gu and got off the van. Soo-ah turned her head at me.

“Don’t you think we need some sort of plan?”

“Endure. At least they’re not completely naked. They are being considerate in their own way. That.”

“Wow, as expected senior brother’s way of thinking is different.”

I thought that she was making fun of me for a second there but looking at her expression that wasn’t it.

Her face was actually admiring while her eyes were shining brightly.

If you seriously admire me like that at the words I just threw out halfheartedly I’m the one that gets embarrassed you know.

Edward couldn’t be seen even after the entire party members had gotten up. I thought that he would appear on his own so we started preparing breakfast.

Breakfast was usually replaced with the 3 minute dishes that were stacked up in the van.

Things like dried food didn’t taste good and couldn’t be eaten so the things that were relatively okay were canned food and 3 minute dishes.

On the whole, the food preparation was done my me. This was because the food that any other person made didn’t really seem edible.

Han Joon-suk and Cho Young-gu had worked at a fried chicken restaurant at one point and yet they can’t make food for shit.

We completed the simple breakfast. Monster usually slowly appeared about ten minutes after we finish eating.

They seemed to gather because of the smell of the food. But today it didn’t seem to be so.

Park Han-bum looked around and tilted his head.

“It’s somehow quiet. There’s no wild animals to be seen too. Do you mind if I go reconnaissance the periphery?”

“Ah, wait a minute. There’s something I have to say before that.”

I stopped him from taking out his bike for now and called the others.

I took out the Pure Gold Ring from the manual while they gathered.

It was the level 0 item that dropped from the level 7 Gragorian.

It was an item that could summon a monster by sacrificing an item and since the monster had absolute obedience to the summoner’s commands it was an item that was useful in various ways.
