Rise of Destruction

1 prologue

Watching the storm from his room while clenching the open book in his hand Kai threw the book on his bed with anger in his red teary eyes.

The book closed as it landed on the bed and its title could be clearly seen - ' Heaven, Hell or just a Failure?'

Outside the kids were picking up their jackets and football balls as they ran towards their homes.

These kids were sixteen, fifteen and lower. Kai was fifteen years and sadly could only watch how others enjoyed their happiness.

Letting the curtains cover the windows, Kai took a deep breath and moved his wheelchair towards his bed.

He wasn't always an invalid but after a car crash, he became one for life. At that time he was only eleven and the driver was his alcoholic father.

His family was poor and they could only support him with the aid of the government. After the car crash, the only thing he saw from that aid was the wheelchair and a few clothes from the second-hand market.

All the money which were supposed to support him as an invalid were mostly used for alcohol, cigarettes and food. In that car crash, the only one who took damages was him.

Everyone else was with a few light injuries. By everyone, I mean his father, mother and older sister.

Before the incident, he had a good a good life, friends and better relations with everyone else. Now though he had to beg his sister if he wanted to get out somewhere.

She usually did not have time for him and always told him that it was boring outside while being there most of the time. it was easy for her as she was beautiful and had many friends but Kai knew that she didn't care much about him.

Her boyfriend was some guy who liked to take her out on a trip during the summer and was about to take her out somewhere in Italy this summer on her eighteenth birthday.

"Kai we will go out tomorrow as it is stormy outside!" Kai heard his sister's voice but he did not reply to her. His eyes were wet and he was holding his pitiful laughter. He knew very well what would happen tomorrow and that was nothing.

It is exactly what happened and Kai spent another week without going outside.

On this fateful day, Melanie got inside Kai's room and told him that they were going out for a bit.

Kai nodded but didn't say much. This was what he needed, a little bit of distraction from this house which he would probably spend another week like a prisoner.

His parents didn't really care much about him as they focused on Melanie's future. She had a rich boyfriend and if they wanted a rich son in law they needed her to always be dressed well.

They lived in a lively part of the city and it had all kinds of shops. While his sister was walking him, her boyfriend joined them. He was well dressed, tall and beautiful young man yet Kai didn't really pay any attention to him.

"Charles let's get in that antiquary shop!" Said, Melanie, as she drove Kai's wheelchair towards a big shop that had all kinds of things from almost every period of the human history.

Inside the shop, Melanie left Kai waiting in a small corner as she tried all kinds of expensive necklaces on herself with the assistance of Charles.

Not having anything better to do Kai moved his wheelchair and inspected some of the dusty items which were made a small mountain. Nothing caught his eye and just as he was about to move away from that small antique mountain he stopped as he saw a small black compass in the size of half a palm fall down from the top.

Picking it up Kai inspected it and saw that this compass's arrow did not point towards South or North, or any of the four main directions at all.

'A small insignificant trash which no longer has any use... just like me...' Thought Kai as he looked for its price but did not found any stickers on it and decided to ask for it.

"Quite a compass you have there!" A voice sounded behind him. Turning around Kai found a smiling old woman standing behind him.

"I did not intend to steal it miss. I was about to ask for its price!" Hurriedly explained Kai. This was the woman that greeted them on the reception.

"It's free for you. Call it your fortune or curse." Said the old woman as she looked at the compass with shining eyes.

"It's just a compass that won't lead me anywhere... no need to make it so.." As Kai was about to finish his sentence he was interrupted by the old lady.

"Can't take you anywhere? Even if you had no limbs it would still take you on a journey to unknown lands. All it needs is just.." Before finishing her sentence the old woman was interrupted by someone else.

" Excuse me miss I want to buy this necklace. Did my stupid brother cause any troubles? Kai return what you have in your hands immediately!" Said Melanie in a stern tone. "Troubles? This good boy is possibly helping me, so this item is a gift from the shop for him. As for that necklace, it will cost a hundred and fifty dollars, miss." Replied the old woman as she led them towards the reception.

That was the only half an hour that Kai spent in this month as Melanie returned him home and got out with her boyfriend.

Months passed by and Kai got more and more desperate and eventually, the thoughts of suicide that were spinning in his gained more weight.

It was on this fateful 23rd October that Kai decided to finally commit suicide.

Sitting close to his 'work desk' Kai took the compass in his hands and inspected it with his empty eyes. In the end, he put it in his small pocket and picked up the little knife he had stolen from the kitchen.

No one suspected the lack of a knife in the kitchen. Not until it was too late.

Kai slowly rolled his sleeves and gently cut his veins. Tears were rolling on his face as he felt how his clothes absorbed the blood from his arms. He was losing vision with every minute that passed.

"It's about to end! Finally! This humiliation.."

While bleeding out Kai forgot to pay attention to his blood-soaked pocket in which he had put the compass in.

A ripping sound was heard and all that Kai saw with his clouded vision was a black light that headed towards his head. Afterwards, he lost vision and the only thing he could feel was that his mind was being sucked out.

'Am I dying? Where am I being sucked to?...'

He knew that he had left his body and soon he felt that the force that was sucking him was changing directions. North, South, East West and finally all he could feel was that he was floating yet he couldn't see or hear.

'So this is death..dark...' Thought Kai as he lost consciousness.

On Earth, in his room lay his body which was now drenched in blood, while no trace could be found from the compass.
