The Otherworldly King

10 The Fateful Meeting

"Chief Kylantha! It is not too late to turn back! This is a trap!" An elderly elven man said to an extremely beautiful mature elven woman who was wearing an intricate dress. Her long blonde hair was tied up in braids.

"No! We must see first! if they are as powerful as the hunters told us, they could perhaps help us free our people!" Another elderly elven woman chimed in.

"Are you kidding me? They're bloody humans! None of them are trustworthy!" The elderly elven man struck back.

"But they said they're from another world where elves don't exist! They don't have any history of discrimination against us!" The elderly elven woman shouted back.

"And you believed that!? They're probably just people from Leincester pretending so that they could wipe us out!" The elderly elven man argued.

"Silence." The beautiful elven woman wearing the intricate dress said to the group. She was called Chief Kylantha by the elderly elven man.

"I understand all of your fears and concerns. But she's right, this could be our chance if we could get them on our side. IF this is a trap, we're not going in without a fighting force, either. Look behind us, a hundred of the most elite elven soldiers will escort us." Chief Kylantha said while looking behind them.

A miniature army of a hundred elves carrying bows and daggers were behind the elders and chief. They all looked fearless and quite strong.

"I understand, Chief Kylantha. We will always follow your decision." The elderly male elf bowed down in apology.

"By the way, isn't the meeting time five minutes from now? Where are they?" The elderly female elf asked.

The meeting spot was at a clearing around 5 kilometers away from the castle.

"They're coming!" An elven woman said to the elders. Coincidentally, this was the same elven woman who was captured by Vathrian intelligence and talked to the king.

A group of fifty knights started to march towards them. They were fully armed and ready for combat. Their armor was also not familiar to the elves who knew what the humans wore in combat. The sight of them marching made some of them nervous.

"C-chief. Are we totally sure this is not a trap?"The elderly elven man said nervously.

"We'll see. Let's go." The chief started walking towards the group of knights coming.

At the front of the Vathrian group, there was a knight with a distinct-looking armor than the rest who were wearing silver-colored armors. This particular knight's armor was black with intricate gold lining engravings throughout the armor. The golden linings acted like pulsing lights which dimmed and light up every few seconds of interval. Anyone could tell that this particular knight was the leader of the entire group. This knight finally stopped approximately 10 meters from the chief and took off his fearsome helmet. The head of the knight was bald and his face looked fearsome.

"I am General Tobias Williams of the kingdom of Vathria, serving directly under King Adrian Vathria. I will escort you to the castle." General Tobias did a Vathrian salute gracefully which was a new sight of the elves.

"Greetings. I am Chief Kylantha of the elven tribe. I am the sole leader of the entire tribe. The people behind me are the elder council." Chief Kylantha also greeted back General Tobias with a smile.

"We have prepared a celebration for your arrival. Please follow me and let us walk together to the castle." General Tobias motioned the elven group to follow him and his knights.

In a spot nearby, a transparent figure was crouching down while looking at the meeting.

"This is Agent 13. There seem to be no hidden threats among them." He said quietly. In addition to the 50 knights brought by General Tobias, there were 20 more agents hiding silently to spot any dangers—this time with the consent of the King.

Knight Vincent was one of the knights who were with the escorting group. Once the group arrived in the meeting spot, Vincent was already internally busy looking for the elven woman he saw a week ago.

"Wow! The leader is beautiful!" Vincent muttered after seeing Chief Kylantha for the first time. But his mind was still looking for a particular elf. Finally, near the front of the elven group, he saw the one he was looking for. "Jackpot!" He silently spoke.

As a sign of friendship, the Vathrian knights and elven warriors were walking side by side with one another in a mixed formation. This was also to ensure there was no backstabbings or betrayals as none of them could coordinate an attack with such a mixed formation. In a moment of pure coincidence, Vincent was walking next to the elven woman he saw last week.

Vincent was nervous. He fell in love at first sight but technically, their people were still not allies yet so she might not act friendly towards him.

"Uh...hello." Vincent said 'screw it' in his head and greeted the elven woman. The elven woman did not respond as she was too focused on marching. Vincent interpreted it differently as he thought the woman was ignoring her.

"Hello?" Vincent tried calling out to her again. Finally, she noticed his presence.

"...Are you talking to me, human? What do you want?" The elven woman turned to him and spoke.

"Ah no...I saw you last week. I was part of the group escorting you to the forest." Vincent replied.

"I see. Thank you for escorting us." The elven woman responded with courtesy.

"You're welcome....what's your name?" Vincent asked with a nervous voice.

"Why do you want to know? We're in the middle of a march." The elven woman smiled. She thought this knight was a weird person.

"Ah...I just want to know your name." Vincent said shyly.

The elven woman giggled before replying. "It's Merith." She said simply. "What's yours?"

"My name's Vincent. As you can see, I'm a knight of Vathria." Vincent replied while smiling.

But before they could continue their conversation, they have arrived in the settlement near the castle. Suddenly, there was a small explosion in the sky above them resulting in beautiful flower-like shapes to form in the sky.

"W-what is that!?" Merith was captivated by the beautiful sights.

"That's called a firework. Welcome to Vathria." Vincent smiled sincerely.
