Reincarnated as the Chosen One

4 Meeting with Blue?

My name is Gary Oak. Grandson of the famous Pokemon researcher, Samuel Oak.

At present, i am living with him. My parents, on the other hand, are traveling around Kanto doing some research I suppose. My big sister, Daisy, has started a journey to become a great Pokemon coordinator. She has told me that I have to obey to grandpa and help him so he won't overwork himself.

Because of that, I am currently at the grandpa's Lab watching tv while he is answering reports from his field researchers from his PC.

Grandpa gave me a task.

Observe the pokemon residing in the yard, but that is really boring. They do nothing apart from eating, play and sleep.

Gary: "Grandpa, it would not be more interesting if you teach me how to fight in Pokemon Battles. I am sure that we can use some of the Pokemon in your yard."

Grandpa doesn't even turn around. He doesn't approve my suggestion.

Prof. Oak: "I have told you many times that be a trainer is not about being good or bad at Pokemon Battles. Also, that pokemon in the yard are not mine. They have their own trainers, and I am just helping those trainers by taking care of their pokemon while I make my research."

Grandpa finally turns around and gave me a serious look.

Prof. Oak: "Pokemon are alive Gary, they are not tools for trainers to have fun. Just like us, Pokemon have their own dreams and the link between pokemon and their trainer is something wonderful when is given in the right way. They help us to achieve our goal while we help them to improve and overcome their weakness."

He had a happy expression in his face, surely remembering old times.

Prof. Oak: "When you and your pokemon partners share the same dream. It would take you much far away. And when you finally reach your goal...That moment is unique and unforgettable."

Gary: "But grandpa there are still many years before I get my first pokemon. What I am supposed to do until then?"

Grandpa did pats my head and say. "You have to learn too see beyond the surface, and deepen your understanding. Because that would make stronger the link between you and your pokemon, and that will gonna be your strength."

At that moment someone knocked on the door. Grandpa goes to open the door.

Boy: "Good morning professor! I have come as you asked me."

I frown. Who is this kid? have some respect. Do you know who are you talking?

Prof. Oak: "Just in time Ash, is good to see you here. Its time to feed the pokemon and an extra set of hands would be really helpful."

This is the Ash that big sis keeps talking about, he doesn't look that great. What is he doing here?

Ash: "Sure. I am here to help and learn from you after all."

What? Grandpa is going to teach him personally?

Grandpa sweats at his comment.

Prof. Oak: "That's the right attitude, Ash." He turns around

"but I fear that I will not have much time to spend teaching you. But you can read my books and I can answer a question every day."

If what big sis said was true, this Ashy-boy is a bookworm. I am sure that he never have interacted with a pokemon. I hope he doesn't become a hindrance.

Prof. Oak: "Let me introduce you, thi-"

Gary: "I am his grandson. My name is Gary, Gary Oak. Remember it, because I will be the best trainer in the world."

He looked at me for a moment and then let out a carefree smile.

Ash: "I know who you are! You are Daisy little brother isn't that right? How is she doing? I have not talked with her since her last call a week ago"

I frown. Why would she call you?

He then opened his eye wide and raise his hands.

Ash: "Come on, don't look at me like that. I am not pursuing her, I'm innocent, I swear."

What is he talking about? Grandpa also is acting weird, he is trembling and there is a cross-popping vein in his forehead.

*Cough**Cough*

Prof. Oak: "We better start to feed the pokemon, they are getting hungry.

Gary and Ash, you are going to feed the pokemon that have some time living here. They are more used to humans. Remember to don't rush and scare them"

-------------------------------------------------------------

Ash: "So. are going to show me the ropes?"

Gary: "What?" I frown.

Ash: "Sorry, I want you to show me how to feed the pokemon"

Gary: "Then just said that. I suppose that I need to teach you that, I don't want to waste the whole day feeding pokemon. You just need to recharge that buckets with this food. Easy right?"

He staring at me like seeing an idiot.

Ash: "And the food is the same for everyone?" He said with an incredulous look.

Gary: "Of course is it, why would be not?

He put a hand in his chin why showing a thoughtful look. Then he took some pokemon food an eat it.

Gary: "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? that food is mean to be eaten for pokemon. If you were hungry I could get you something from the fridge."

Black lines appeared in his forehead at my comment.

Ash: "if I would hungry I would not choose to eat pokemon food. Are you an idiot?"

you little...

Ash: "I was tasting it. It does not have flavor, that's why every pokemon can it even if it don't fit their tastes. But surely there is going to be some pokemon that would refuse to eat it."

He looked up to meet my eyes and say " isn't that right?"

I put my hand behind my head. I know that there is one.

Gary: "Well. There is a Venusaur that has not been eating all his fo-"

Ash: "YOU HAVE A VENUSAUR HERE!?"

what are that stars in his eyes? what a weirdo.

Gary: "He has been residing in the lab for a while now."

Ash keep smiling like an idiot, "Show me" he said.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Ash: "Are you sure you know where is it? He gave me an incredulous look.

Gary: "He must be here." We keep walking for a while, I know that Venusaur love to take sun here.

There is it!

Gary: "Hi there Venusaur, did you remember me?"

He looks at me for a moment before he nods

"ve-nu~saaaaaur"

Ash: "Woaah... it's huge!"

Gary: "Idiot, all Venusaur are the same."

Ash: "They look similar but are not the same." He said with a frown.

"Well, what can you told me about her?"

Gary: "Her?" He facepalmed at my words.

Ash: "You don't even know that she is female!"

Venusaur looks at me disappointed.

"Look! She has a seed in her flower, that means that she is a female Venusaur"

"saaaaaur"

Ash: "See? even Venusaur can see that you are an idiot. But that aside, how she behave?"

Gary: "I-I don't know, she doesn't make too much apart from taking the sun."

Ash: "Are you saying that she is lax?"

"ve-naaa" What's with you two?

Gary: "No! I am not saying that! She is quiet but not too much. And I have never seen her angry."

Ash put his hand in his chin again, and then look at Venusaur.

Ash: "So we can conclude that she is a calm Venusaur isn't that right?"

Gary: "yes I suppose."

Ash: "Well, the next time you feed her. Get some bitter berries, grind them and mix it with her food."

Gary: "Whatever. We have to come back or grandpa will start to worry."

Ash: "Sure. It was nice to meet you Venusaur, I hope we'll meet again"

"saaaur"

After Ash stops waving his hand at Venusaur we return to the lab. Grandpa has not come back yet so we wait for him in the lab. Ash was reading a book that took from Grandpa's bookcase while I was watching the classificatory of the Indigo Plateau Conference.

Gary: "You know Ash, it doesn't matter how many books you read. Trainers are measured for their strength will and skills to get the best out of their pokemon. You can't learn about that in books, the real world will crush you if you underestimate it.

He takes his eyes out of the book and looks at me.

Ash: huh? did you say something?

Why you little...

I can not stand this kid.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Some days later.

I was currently grinding some berries for Venusaur. She really loves it

Grandpa comes into the kitchen and sees me.

Prof. Oak: "What are you doing Gary?"

Gary: "I am making a good use of that awfully bitter berries that you like to buy grandpa."

Grandpa paled at my words.

Prof. Oak: "Don't tell me that you are the one that steals my Rawst Berries"

Gary: "I am your grandson so there are my Berries too. And you were happy the other day when you see that Venusaur has started to gain weight again."

Grandpa has tears running down his face

Prof. Oak: "Good for her."
