Chapter 15 - The Feeling Of Left Out
The most pathetic feeling was -- when your family left you out either intentionally or unintentionally. You felt like an Outsider in your own family. Xin Zhenyi could not even fathom how she would feel they kept her in dark for such a huge matter. She knew it was somewhat selfish, but soon realized where her yèyè was coming from.
He didn't like to show anyone his vulnerable self. He was the epitome of vigor, strength, and resilience. He always displayed what it meant to embrace flaws and mold them into your strength.
But then she also understood that her big Brother would do anything to be with him during his final time. Otherwise, the regret of not being with his grandfather during his final moments was going to plague him for the rest of his life.
She turned towards yèyè and asked, "You are really concealing something like this from brother? Don't you think grandfather brother would like to be here with you?"
"Hmph! I'm not dying anytime soon. That stubborn brute will taunt me for being weak lying on the bed and machines attached to me, even after my death. I did not even tell you until a few days ago. Moreover, he is not even in the country. " he said, too stubbornly for a man lying on his death bed.historical
"This is very selfish of you yèyè. You don't know how much I want to not leave your side even for a second and here you are telling me that I'm worrying for you in vain"
"Xiao Chen, see your daughter is calling this sick old man selfish." He whined, unlike his normal self.
Xin Yichen just rolled his eyes at their childish behavior. It was not every day they got to see this side of Xin Yanmo. Unfortunately, they would not get much. He really wanted to keep him for ever.
"Sam, see this girl is now calling me selfish. See this granddaughter of mine is no more sweet and lovely." He tried his luck again.
"You know grandpa this best friend of mine was never sweet and lovely. It's nice, you finally realized." Sam Qin answered back. The woman was hell bent on ignoring his existence. She didn't even looked in his direction .
Xin Zhenyi thought that the man was very infuriating. She could give anything to have his mouth locked.
"Who the heck is your best friend, Mr. Qin?" She narrowed her eyes at him.
"Oh, I forget we are best enemies. No doubt, an enemy had more special space in your heart than a friend" Sam, the idiot said to her.
It was on the tip of her tongue to say a special place?! Her foot!
She turned back to her father completely ignoring the idiot scowling behind her. Sam Qin had an urge to beat her up. A woman or not.
"Bà, you inform big bro. I don't dare to tell him about grandfather's illness"
" Oh, the great Xin Zhenyi is afraid," the imbecile chimed again. He was hell bent on reminding her that he was also present in the room.
She glared at him but remained silent. He just liked to enrage her. But she would not give him the pleasure.
"Now you are playing silent, Zhenzhen," he said again. Could not he see that she did not wish to talk to him. Why the heck he was so damm difficult?!
"Don't you Zhenzhen me, Sam? You knew about yèyè's condition but you still choose to hide it from me. You call yourself my best friend. Is it what best friends do?" She screeched.
The damm brute! she would never forgive him for hiding such a matter from her.
"Zin'e-"
"No yèyè, I am talking to my best friend. You can't just intervene between us. Even if you forbid him to inform me it was his duty as my best friend to tell me that my grandfather was fighting with a life-threatening disease" She exclaimed. She never felt so left out in her entire life. If there was somebody who knew how it would affect her, it was him, her best friend. But still, he chose to stay silent.
Suddenly she could not suppress her emotions anymore. She was tired, too tired to play tough. She wanted to shout and tell them to leave her, the heck alone but seeing yèyè's condition her heart was breaking all over again. She never felt too alone in a room full of people before.
She walked out of the room to suppress her erratic emotions.
