Chapter 959: Little Police Officer
Arriving near the academy, Tao Yueyue said, "Uncle Chen, I will go back to the dormitory first."
Chen Shi pointed at a Mala Soup restaurant and said, "Go and hurry back quickly. I will start questioning this restaurant first."
Tao Yueyue ran back to the dormitory in one breath. She pulled out the uniform issued by the police academy from the wardrobe, put it on, and carefully arranged the collar in front of the mirror. The only difference between the police recruit uniform and the official uniform were the police epaulettes.
It was the first time she was wearing this uniform during an unofficial activity . Tao Yueyue was a little shy, for fear that she would be seen by the dorm manager aunties when she went downstairs.
She was humming a song and walking out of the campus when she suddenly stopped in her tracks. Under the telephone pole by the sidewalk stood a man in black wearing a round hat, almost exactly the same as the one who pushed her. The moment their eyes met, the man in black grinned, then turned around and got into a van.
Tao Yueyue hurried after him, desperately trying to memorize the license plate number, and then she hurried to find Chen Shi.
Chen Shi was standing in front of a store and talking to a man. That man just happened to be Tao Yueyue's instructor. Seeing that Tao Yueyue had arrived, the instructor smiled and said, "Okay, you guys are busy. I will take my leave first."
"Uncle Chen, the suspect just appeared and I memorized his license plate number!" Tao Yueyue couldn’t wait to inform him.
"Where did you see him?"
"There!" Tao Yueyue pointed in a certain direction, and then reported the license plate number.historical
Chen Shi sent a text message to the bureau to ask for help investigating it, and then asked, "Why are you wearing a uniform?"
"I want to investigate the case together. It’s better to investigate as a police officer!"
"That’s a student uniform."
"It's the same. People won't recognize it. Uncle Chen, let me participate in this case. It can be counted as my internship achievement."
"You still have to attend class tomorrow."
"Help me request for leave!" Tao Yueyue begged with a smile. "Practice is much more important than knowledge from books."
Upon hearing the words "request for leave", Chen Shi's face suddenly became gloomy. "Do you know what the instructor just said to me?"
"Words praising me?"
"Little brat, your class’s teacher said you don't attend classes at all. Yet you’re shameless enough to request for leave?"
Tao Yueyue said indifferently, "The teacher teaches so slowly, and he likes to go off on tangents. It's too inefficient. I’ve finished reading the books myself. I get first place in the exams for my year even if I don't attend classes anyway?"
"Classes aren’t just about learning knowledge. The police academy is a place to teach you discipline and principles. If you don't abide by the discipline of the police academy, what would happen when you become a police officer in the future?!"
Tao Yueyue pouted. "As long as I understand in my heart, it’s fine. Besides, aren't you also a very individualistic policeman? I just need to follow your example."
Chen Shi didn't know what to say to her at all, and said helplessly, "Am I reckless like you? I have told you many times not to think you can do whatever you want just because of your cleverness. The arrogant will be socially excluded!"
"I don't believe that you used to be a good student! When you were in school, you played crime simulation games. What qualifications do you have to talk to me like that? Hmph!"
Tao Yueyue turned her head and left, and Chen Shi shouted, "Where are you going?"
"Investigating the case!"
After they finished questioning the surrounding shops, they sat back in the car. Chen Shi was no longer as angry and said, "You can investigate the case with me."
"What’s the condition?"
"Attend classes properly in the future."
"Can I sleep, read novels and play games?"
Chen Shi sighed. Tao Yueyue continued to defend herself. "When I skip classes, it’s not to play. I spend most of the time in the library reading books on criminal psychology. To be honest, do you think the theories and concepts taught in class are useful?"
Chen Shi said earnestly, "To tell you the truth, I wasn’t a good student when I was in the academy. I skipped class, got into fights and smoked. I didn't fit in with those around me. After I started working, I regretted it very much. I really wish I could do it over again."
"If someone said these things to you at the time, would you have listened to it?"
"Do you want to annoy me to death?!"
"Okay, okay, I promise you that I will only skip three classes each week."
"What kind of promise is that? Was that what I said?"
"Do you want me to give in completely? Why? Because I’m a child, is it only right and proper for me to be obedient? Don’t tell me that a child cultivated by the police legend would have no soul and can only be obedient?"
"Okay, fine!" Chen Shi felt dispirited. "You have to remember one thing: Don't become a thorn within the collective. The coolest police officer is the most rotten police officer."
Tao Yueyue saluted, "Yes, sir!"
"Call me ‘Captain’!" Chen Shi corrected her.
Chen Shi's cell phone rang, and he asked Tao Yueyue to take a look. Tao Yueyue opened it and said, "They found it. The vehicle’s owner is named ‘Gao Bin’!"
"Look at the photo. Is this the person?"
"I’m not very sure. I have to see him for myself to confirm."
"Tell me the address. Let's go there now."
The two arrived at a certain housing district and walked in. Many residents looked at Tao Yueyue. She stood tall and felt good about herself, but in Chen Shi's eyes, she was like a child cosplaying a police officer.
Chen Shi was even thinking some time ago that Tao Yueyue was growing too slowly, or perhaps she would only be this tall. Should he buy some drugs to stimulate her pituitary hormones?
Thinking of this, he said, "Yueyue, you should exercise more in the police academy. Girls also have to have better physiques to look good in police uniforms."
"Sister Lin's 36D came out of sports?"
"Did you know that she participated in the city marathon when she was your age?"
"Did she finish running it?"
"Nonsense, of course she finished running it."
"That means she was not ranked. You adults love to pick some glorious past experiences to make yourselves look good."
Chen Shi was so angry that he wanted to laugh. "Do you have to force me to say that you’re too thin and look like a child?"
Tao Yueyue pouted. "Starting tomorrow, I’ll have one papaya a day."
"That doesn't work. Exercise! Only low-intensity and high-frequency exercises can make your body well-proportioned. Long-term exercise can stimulate bone growth. I’m really worried that you will still look so childish when you become a police officer. When the interviewer looks at you, they’ll think you’re underage and assign you to the kindergarten to help the children across the road."
Tao Yueyue laughed. "Buy me two dumbbells! By the way, did you bring a gun?"
"I did."
"Give it to me. Give it to me!"
"Don't even think about it!"
When they found the owner of the vehicle's apartment, Chen Shi knocked directly on the door. A man in boxers and an undershirt yawned while opening the door. He glanced at the two and asked what they wanted.
"Hello, we are the police. Is your name Gao Bin? What brand is your vehicle?"
"It’s a white Volkswagen sedan. What's wrong?"
Tao Yueyue whispered, "It's not him!"
"We are looking for a suspect's vehicle. He may have used your license plates. We just came over to verify it. What were you doing in the morning?"
"Sleeping at home. If you don't believe me, come in and take a look, the bed is still warm!"
"That's all right. Excuse us."
After going downstairs, Tao Yueyue said disappointedly, "Duplicated plate! We made a trip for nothing."
"Let’s go to the Traffic Bureau to check the surveillance footage!"
"Uncle Chen, I have an idea. When I was kidnapped by Zhou Xiao, I went to a shady car dealer. They specialized in providing forged license plates. Would you like to try our luck?"
