This Earth Is A Bit Fearsome

Chapter 741 - The Belief that led to the Establishment of the Immemorial Path

Chapter 741: The Belief that led to the Establishment of the Immemorial Path

Lu Xuan went with Liu Haotian to a huge hall while they were under Shi Buyi’s lead. There, he met the sectmaster of the Immemorial Path, Xuanyangzi.

This was the second time that he had ever seen Xuanyangzi in his life; the first time was at the turf of the Divine Blood Church. Even then, he had only seen that man from afar.

Back then, Xuanyangzi’s mighty powers were on full display. He seemed almost capable of singlehandedly taking on a whole army.

The same man before Lu Xuan’s eyes, however, looked a lot more amicable, so much so that common people wouldn’t even be able to sense the Spiritual Aether on him.

It was obvious that he had concealed his own aura, but the fact that he had been able to do so was in itself a demonstration of his powers.

Although he had been stuck at the Divine Transformation Realm for so long, that didn’t mean it was all that bad.

However, that was far from being able to fool Lu Xuan. To Lu Xuan, the man before him had such terrifying powers that he might as well have been considered a miniature sun. The energy within him was nothing short of terrifying.

Xuanyangzi actually rose and bowed to Lu Xuan, “I’m most grateful to you for helping us of the Immemorial Path to recover a member of the sacred bloodline.”

This had surprised even Shi Buyi, yet Lu Xuan didn’t shirk from the gesture that he received. He was of such a status that he wouldn’t have been unfazed even if Xuanyangzi were to kneel and kowtow to him

Even so, he still felt as if something was off. Xuanyangzi’s power or status to the outside world didn’t matter. He shouldn’t be acting this way.

Lu Xuan wondered if the man sincerely wanted to take Liu Haotian in as one of their own.

He was rather surprised by this.

Lu Xuan narrowed his eyes and wore a cold expression as he said, “I never said anything about handing him over to you people.”

Shi Buyi looked rather displeased right away. The way he saw it, Xuanyangzi was more than just his grandmaster; this man also served as a sort of role model for him. Shi Buyi was hardly fazed by Lu Xuan’s cold attitude towards him, yet he was bothered by how Lu Xuan treated Shi Buyi’s grandmaster so coldly.

However, he quickly reverted back to his previous expression. As the best among the later generation of the Immemorial Path, he still had a bit of decency within him.

Xuanyangzi straightened himself and looked at Lu Xuan. “I wonder what worries you might have. By the way, I have yet to learn your name, sir.”

Shi Buyi looked at Lu Xuan with a peculiar look on his face as well, as even he had yet to learn Lu Xuan’s name.

Lu Xuan could’ve been considered to have risen to fame all across the world, yet only a few people had met Lu Xuan in person.

It hadn’t been long since he made his appearance. Given how quickly he rose to prominence, hardly anyone knew anything specific about him.

Lu Xuan then paused and continued, “I’m Lu Xuan. I’m sure you people know well of my worries. I wanted to know one thing. When the Liu Clan was exterminated decades ago, where were you people of the Immemorial Path? You claim that the establishment of the Immemorial Path was connected to the sacred ones. If you did owe them that much, why didn’t you do anything back then?”

That was why Lu Xuan doubted them deep down. The Immemorial Path’s words did not match their actions at all.

If they truly valued the sacred bloodline as they claimed to do, he wondered why they would’ve just watched as the Liu Clan was exterminated. Still, why would Xuanyangzi act so concerned about it if they didn’t care about the members of the bloodline after all?

Xuanyangzi was so powerful that if he had any ill will, the course of action for him to take was simply using force to have his way.

However, Xuanyangzi didn’t choose to do so. That was why Lu Xuan had no right to be angry at Xuanyangzi. If Xuanyangzi were to simply keep pressuring him, then he would have no other choice but to make his move.

Xuanyangzi’s powers were extremely terrifying, but Lu Xuan believed that he could’ve at least escaped unscathed all the same.

That was why Lu Xuan dared to follow Shi Buyi to the latter’s lair. If nothing else, Lu Xuan could’ve simply used the teleportation powers of the Chaos Heaven Stabilizer Bell to instantly escape.

If things ever went that far, however, there was no doubt that the first thing that he would’ve done after recovering his powers was to get his revenge.

Xuanyangzi then sighed again and said, “If that is what truly concerns you, friend, then I shall tell you anything you might want to know about it.”

Shi Buyi was stunned right away, his eyes widened upon hearing what his grandmaster had just said. To his surprise, he heard Xuanyangzi refer to Lu Xuan as a friend.

It was worth noting that Xuanyangzi wasn’t just so unbelievably powerful that he was known as the most powerful being in the world. More importantly, he was also old enough to be Lu Xuan’s senior. That man was Shi Buyi’s grandmaster, after all.

There had to have been less than ten people in the entire world whom such a powerful man would’ve considered a friend.

Anyone who such a powerful man referred to as a friend would’ve had something to brag about for the rest of their lives. Judging from Lu Xuan’s looks, however, the man was so totally unfazed that it seemed like something very normal to him.

Shi Buyi didn’t know why the grandmaster would suddenly call Lu Xuan a friend, but now wasn’t a good time to ask. He simply thought that Lu Xuan was indeed someone who was more than meets the eye.

Lu Xuan’s eyebrow twitched, not expecting Xuanyangzi to actually call him a friend. He seemed to have caught onto something.

Xuanyangzi casually explained to Lu Xuan, “That is actually quite regretful. The Immemorial Path itself was established by the sacred ones for the sole purpose of defending the descendants of the sacred ones against the Divine Blood Church, but that had happened a very long time ago. Countless elders and disciples alike no longer took such a task to heart.”

Deep down, the whole situation left him with mixed feelings. Very few people remembered or even cared about why the Immemorial Path was established in the first place.

At first, they supported the sacred ones of the later generations in defending against the Blood Devil. Now that it had been ages since the Blood Devil appeared, however, the sacred ones had been dormant that entire time.

The younger ones among the sect were no longer willing to continue taking on such a mission.

Only old people like him would’ve remembered the reason why the Immemorial Path was established.

While the extermination of the Liu Clan had shocked the entire Immemorial Path, hardly anyone within the sect wanted to look into the matter. Xuanyangzi and some other of the older generations were the only ones fuming about it.

However, even someone at the same level of power and status as Xuanyangzi found it difficult to simply do as he pleased.

Lu Xuan then casually asked, “If that’s the case, then how dare you tell me to hand the little guy to you back then? Is the Immemorial Path even safe for him?” He knew that sects like the Immemorial Path, who have survived through the ages, definitely wouldn’t be able to hold on to certain beliefs so strongly. Such things could usually only be heard of in novels.

The entire sect was currently undergoing the most critical period of reformation. The ones of the older generation who intended to stick with the beliefs of the establishment of the sect through were at odds with many of the younger members who didn’t even care about such beliefs.

The internal affairs of the sect were left an utter mess. It was simply impossible for Lu Xuan to hand Liu Haotian over to the Immemorial Path while they were in such a state.

“Of course, I’m asking because I’ve decided to take the remaining member of the sacred bloodline as my personal disciple. Once I’ve stepped down as the sectmaster of the Immemorial Path, he shall take my place. Everyone within the sect would have to abide by whatever he decrees; nobody would dare to oppose him.

Xuanyangzi then clapped on the armrest of his chair, which contained the solid might of the power of his path.
