Chapter 1270 - A Bad Trap

Lu Li heard the story from other players.
After Shandris’ health dropped to around 30%, she entered the third phase and began to take the battle seriously. Those that died in the fight no longer felt shame. Instead, they wore that battle with pride.
After Shandris entered phase 3, she began to cast a spell with a complicated name. Players called the spell “Rage of the Moon Goddess”.
The stars and moon shone through the mist of war in Hillsbrad. A ray of light shone down from above, through the mist and covered Shandris. Shandris knelt down on one knee and her silent prayers echoed in the area.
The prayer was silent, but it was visible, like a ripple caused by a rock thrown into a pond.
If Lu Li was around, he might find the scene familiar because the same scene occurred when Shandris applied the Prayer of the Moon Goddess buff on him and Water Fairy.
As the prayer grew from gentle to violent, the moonlight in the air gathered and turned into rays of concentrated light that rained down one by one.
Everyone took damage!
Regardless of how many players there were, any unit that had aggression towards her was covered in the range of the spell.
According to one of the witnesses of the scene, they described the effect of the spell as a ‘meltdown’. Players, pets, monsters and NPCs were all melted down in the peaceful but violent moonlight. No corpses remained. None of the players dropped their equipment as even the equipment was melted away.
None of the outsiders knew how much Glory Capital lost, but apparently Sorrowless passed out during the spell. His shield was very strong, and the Healers’ support allowed him to witness the entire event. After witnessing the spell’s devastation, he fainted on the spot from rage and was then melted away as well.
Everyone cheered as the level 65 Staff had been given to them. They still didn’t realise that players couldn’t currently use the level 65 Staff.
Distributing the Staff was a problem.
Auction? Battle? Scissors, paper, rock?
In the end, they decided to resolve it through one-on-one duels. Every club sent out one competitor and everyone was split into groups to place their flag. The last club standing would receive the item.
Although there were no rules that stated that smaller guilds couldn’t participate, it was clear that only celebrity players had a shot at winning. As such, only about a dozen clubs participated. In the end, it was Green Flag Wine who actually won the equipment.
In the last match, he defeated Unforgettable Maple, truly revealing his skills as the tire king.
In terms of one-on-one duels, Green Flag Wine had something to brag about. Even Sorrowless sometimes lost to him.
After he won the equipment, he received a good amount of booing from the other Alliance clubs. After all, Peerless City was allied with Ruling Sword. It was like switching the equipment from their left hand to their right hand. However, since this was the rule set by everyone, and no one restricted Peerless City from participating, they still gave the Staff to Peerless City.
However, there was a problem. Lu Li didn’t have good intentions when he gave away the equipment. He assumed that regardless of which club ended up receiving the equipment, there was no way they’d leave it lying around. They’d immediately find a level requirement deduction stone for the equipment and pass it to their strongest magic class player.
Then, they’d discover that the Staff couldn’t be equipped. It was an elaborate trap set up by Lu Li because embedded gemstones couldn’t be removed. They would probably be really upset, considering that these -10% level requirement deductions stones weren’t any cheaper than Legendary equipment. In fact, they could even be more expensive sometimes. On top of these types of gemstones having a high price, their availability was also limited. Sometimes, a major guild could search through their entire storage and not find a single one.
After all these calculations, Lu Li didn’t expect the Legendary Staff to fall into the hands of Peerless City.
He quickly sent a message to Green Flag Wine; he didn’t want his own ally to fall for his trap. “Brother Wine, is the equipment still with you?” Lu Li asked.
Green Flag Wine had just defeated many top players and won the ownership of the level 65 Legendary equipment, gaining even more fame and profit. He was just calming his heartbeat when he received Lu Li’s message. He hesitated for a moment then asked, “Brother Lu Li, did you want the equipment back?”
They were allies and anything could be discussed. However, asking for the equipment back didn’t seem quite right since Peerless City had fought so hard to earn it.
“Don’t misunderstand – I’ve got no such intentions, but has the equipment already been distributed?” Lu Li questioned.
“What is there to distribute? We gave it to Chanelle. Half a Cigarette gave it up because he can’t afford the level deduction gemstone but Chanelle happened to have one,” Green Flag Wine said.
“My God, tell her to stop! Don’t put the gemstone in!” Lu Li exclaimed. He could feel the cold sweat roll down his forehead. If Chanelle really placed the gemstone in, even if it wasn’t Ruling Sword’s fault, she’d still be unhappy. After all, this was an equipment given by Lu Li.

“Hold on,” Green Flag Wine replied. He wasn’t sure why Lu Li would say this, but he still contacted Chanelle.
Lu Li waited impatiently. Was this bad karma? Originally, he wanted a guild like Blood Red War Flag or Seventh Heaven to fall for his trap. After all, they were competitors and it was normal for them to set up traps for each other. Causing trouble for the Gangnam Royals would be even better but Lu Li had never planned to target his own allies.
After a while, Green Flag Wine finally messaged back.
“Brother Lu Li, you should probably tell us what’s going on. We haven’t placed the gemstone in yet,” Green Flag Wine demanded.
Lu Li let out a sigh of relief.
“Uh, Brother Wine, don’t take it to heart. I wasn’t trying to set a trap for you guys,” Lu Li awkwardly explained, “To be honest, no matter what you do or what gemstone you place in, that level 65 equipment cannot be equipped before level 60.”
It was obvious that Lu Li wasn’t trying to set up a trap for the other major guilds, since he had this knowledge but still gave the equipment away.
Green Flag Wine was a smart man. He immediately figured out why Lu Li was so awkward with his explanation.
“Have you tried it?”
“No, but the sources are very reliable. If you don’t trust me, you can let Chanelle try it,” Lu Li reassured.
“No, that’s fine. We can’t risk it. Actually, I should to tell her myself. No matter what the situation was, thanks for today. I’ll keep this favour in mind,” Green Flag Wine said. He didn’t believe Lu Li entirely, but he was at least 70-80% certain that Lu Li was speaking the truth.
Lu Li had no need to lie to them. Even if he did, it would be too easy for them to find out the truth. However, if Lu Li’s words were true, their loss would be too great.
It was a shame for Lu Li that he didn’t get to cause a disturbance to the other major guilds, but at least he didn’t set the wrong target up.
Although Peerless City couldn’t use the equipment right now, they could still place it in their storage. Having a level 65 Legendary equipment in their storage was something worth bragging about.
In the end, it was kind of a happy result.
Lu Li was excited about the rewards that he was about to receive for his quest. Garona wasn’t stingy, and Bygraves seemed to mean a lot to her. As such, the quest rewards this time would most likely be very valuable.
Hopefully he’d be able to receive an empowerment skill book or a Legendary equipment.
At this point, Lu Li wouldn’t say that he had an oversupply of Legendary equipment, but they were nothing new to him either. At this point, he wanted Legendary equipment set pieces or the next tier of equipment after Legendary.
Only these kinds of equipment would be able to further separate himself from the other players.
