Chapter 58 Setting A Record
Leaning back into his chair, Raven stared at the screen with a stupified expression, hardly believing what he was seeing was actually true.
7.2 million Novas...
Although it was not a large amount for someone like him as he had already seen much more in his life, it still made him dizzy when he thought about how much money will be spent on a single bottle.
Damn! Over seven million Novas... That was twice as much wealth before the Third World War! One could have easily lived for years from that much money!
Taking a deep breath to calm himself down, Raven leaned forward and tapped on the screen a few times before pressing enter.
<Anony Mouse raised the bid by 100k Novas! Current bid: 7.3 Million Novas!>
<Blessed Child raised the bid by 100k Novas! Current bid: 7.4 Million Novas!>
"This bi-" Raven almost cursed out loud once again and quickly raised the bid by another 100k.
<Blessed Child raised the bid by 100k Novas! Current bid: 7.6 Million Novas!>
"He is not playing games. He is serious about this Flask." Raven mumbled and scratched his neck, feeling how the irritation slowly was creeping back into his body.
Nevertheless, he ignored it and increased the bid by 500k which quickly was answered by another 500k by this Blessed Child.
"Hmm..." leaning back into his chair and touching his chin with his fingers, Raven pondered silently before he checked the time.
<Time left: 1 day, 7 hours, 41 minutes!>
More than 1 day...
Raven contemplated for several seconds without moving or talking, and after 5 full minutes, he decided to set an alarm and sleep.
"I will take care of you tomorrow..." Raven lay down on his bed and closed his eyes.
However, not even after 2 hours, his eyes snapped open as the irritation within his body became so unbearable that he was simply unable to fall asleep. Hell, his body was even covered in a thick layer of sweat, literally soaking his bed sheets!
"Sigh... This just can't go on like this..." Raven mumbled and sat back down before his device, staring at the screen with a contemplating look.
"Wait, maybe that could work!" suddenly, Raven's eyes lit up, and quickly scrolled to the very bottom of the website, finding the Star Treasury's contact information.
...
Within the headquarters of the Star Treasury, Alexios was walking up and down in a large room filled with the members of the Star Treasury, making sure everything was organized and no problems would arise.
"S-Sir..." suddenly, as Alexios was reaching a young man in a black uniform his steps halted, his eyes fixed on the large screen.
<How much for the Avatar Flask?>
"Avatar Flask?" Alexios raised a brow, but soon his eyes lit up, and laughed, "Tell him if he wants it then keep bidding."
"Yes, Sir!" the young man nodded and quickly wrote the reply.
Upon seeing how his inferior pressed entered Alexios nodded and was ready to keep walking when suddenly another message came.historical
<How about 50 Million Novas?>
COUGH!
Alexios and the young man, both almost choked on their saliva and their eyes widened so much that they were threatening to fall out of their sockets right then and there!
"F-Fifty million Novas? J-Just who is this guy?" the young man wiped the sweat away from his forehead when he read the message for the second time, his eyes shifting over to Alexios, unknown what he should do.
Alexios was also dumbfounded and didn't know what he should do. This was his first time taking care of someone offering so much money.
<Not enough? How about 100 Million Novas?>
"This brat!!" Alexios almost tripped and fell behind, his legs almost turning to jelly!
100 Million Novas!
That was an amount that not even thousands if not tens of thousands of normal people would be able to see in their entire lives ever!
Yes, the Star Treasury was an auction site where people could keep bidding on items daily so it was not a shock to see if an item was sold for several million Novas, perhaps even for a few ten million Novas.
But for a hundred?
No, let alone a hundred million Novas, fifty million Novas was a massive amount for a single item alone!
"This guy definitely has a few screws lost to spend so much..." Alexios mumbled as he adjusted his tie while he swallowed nervously.
"S-Sir... What should we do? The Avatar Flask he talks about is currently at 8.6 million Novas and it cannot be bought immidieatly." the young man explained as he quickly tracked down which Avatar Flask was Raven talking about.
"8.6 million?" Alexios mumbled the number a few times before he almost yelled out loud.
For fucking god's sake! Who cared about almost 9 million Novas?!
This guy was serious and he even offered 100 Million Novas! Not even a single item was sold for that much wealth ever in any auction history!
NEVER!
If he now accepts this offer he can get even more fame and recognition from his higher-ups than ever before and perhaps get the chance to be promoted!
Of course, this also came with risk as according to the rules within the Star Treasury, he was prohibited from accepting any offer if the auctioned item was stated was not sold immediately, which, if he does, could possibly cost his job!
"Sir?" the young man looked at Alexios questioningly, wondering what he should reply.
Alexios contemplated silently and after 5 full minutes he clenched his teeth and said, "Sell it for him."
"B-But Sir, that is-"
"I know it is against the rules, but I am also confident the higher-ups will understand it. I will take all responsibility so just sell it for him already!"
<Auction closed! Item sold already!>
"WHAT?! What is the meaning of this?" sitting on a comfy and luxurious sofa, an old man stood up, the cigarette falling out of his mouth right onto the ground below.
And it was not only him, but everyone watching the auction, including numerous big figures and large guilds! It was not an exaggeration that half of the world right now was in a huge stupor.
"Mr. Alexios, Master Goran wish to see you in his office."
Alexios, watching how an old man in a rather elegant suit walked into the room and walked up to him sighed, and after adjusting his tie once again he nodded.
"I will be there right away."
Meanwhile, back in Old Dan's mansion, Raven stood in his chair with a wide grin on his face while a drop of tear rolled down from the corner of his mouth.
"I won... but at what cost?"
