Butcher Demon

Chapter 250

Chapter 250

The battle was quickly dominated by Papameyan.

However, the strange monster still showed no sign of slowing down. They rampaged around with frighteningly high durability.

Instead, the wounds and pieces of flesh they cut off produced <Predator macrophage> that ate the soldiers around them, making them cautious against this unknown enemy even more.

They surround them then slash, stab, and burn them, and watch their behavior to find out how to kill the monster. This is their way of fighting against a magical beast they have never seen before.

Yakumo stares at such a battle.

“Are you scared?”

Lydia bent down and made eye contact with him. She thought that Yakumo who was holding the stuffed spider and remained still was doing so out of fear and nervousness.

“It’s okay. I’m not going to do anything terrible to you. If we do that to Gevaudan’s friends, we will be eaten..... Now! you can talk to this big-sis!”

She was able to converse with subhumans using telepathy, which she had already many experienced with Gevaudan. She assumed that she could talk to him and calm him down using the same method.

She smiled gently and put her hand on Yakumo’s forehead as if to measure his fever – and then.

“Giiiiiyaaaa!!!???”

“Kyaah!!”

“W-What?”

As if struck by lightning, Lydia’s entire body was knocked back, and she fell to the concrete. Smoke from her fried brain cells rose from her ears.

“Lydia! Are you okay!?”

Ferris was the first to run to her. She rushed to heal her, her white eyes peeling back and smoke coming out of her mouth.

“W-wait!? What happened!?”

Tiriel looked back and forth between the fainted Lydia and Yakumo, who was looking at her blankly. Afraid, she turned her staff toward Yakumo.

Tiriel slowly approaches Yakumo as Chario and Tarshepait look at them from afar, wondering what is going on.

“What exactly did that quiet little boy do....? Lilith are famous for their mental tolerance......... hmm?”

Suddenly, something caught her eyes. Tiriel crouched down and looked into Yakumo’s eyes.

“–nnnnnnnnnn?” She let out a strange voice as her mouth pressed together.

When she was just a few centimeters away when their lips almost touched, she looked up.

“Oh no.... this boy, he’s a changeling.”

“Changeling?”historical

Ferris asked as she continued to treat Lydia.

“I don’t really know, but I can feel the presence of some skill behind his eyes.”

“Ugh.... I thought I was going to die.....”

Lydia came back to life.

“What did he do to you?”

Ferris asked, and Lydia shook her head repeatedly, pressing her eyes and answering.

“I don’t know.... something like being surrounded by hundred sirens and forced to listen to thier chorus of resentment toward their cheating ex-boyfriend....”

“that’s hell.”

Ferris’s shoulders shook as she imagined it.

But Yakumo on the other hand, was just standing there. He stares in the direction of 88’s center with a nonchalant look on his face.

“Hmmm.......”

Tiriel’s expression turned serious and she cleared her throat.

“Lydia’s reaction made me feel like I understand now why he’s mute.”

She continues with conviction.

“This child must have an insane amount of information running through his head. Lydia’s brain instantly fried because of it. And since the subhuman’s body can’t handle the speed of those thoughts, he can’t speak at all. Even if he tries to speak, his mouth can’t keep up. How sad....”

“So what kind of race was he?”

.

Ferris asked, and Tiriel raised an eyebrow.

“Um.... the fast mind, capable of next level logical thought. And yet, he’s good at replicating, and he can even predict future, umm........ Oh, that’s right.”

Tiriel looked back at Chario and discreetly asked for her opinion.

“Um..... do you know of any such species?”

Highland Zephyr travels across the Miforsis. Surely she must know something about it.

“Hmm.....”

Chario, who was listening to the conversation, pondered.

“–Laplace demon are probably the most intelligent species in Miforsis. They are omniscient from the past and future, which means that they can also make prophecies.....”

“Ka-kak. If a demon such as Laplace was born, it would be historic news in the continent of the demon world. It’s an elite of the demon race, said to only be born in tens of thousands of years. Once it is born, there is no doubt that it will be the next Demon King. It is hard to believe that such a rare race was reborn in the subhuman world as a changeling.”

Papameyan returned.

His supposedly white circular shield was stained with reddish-black fluids. As the round shield spun with a swishing sound, the smeared blood glue flew off, and a clean shield appeared again.

The only way to destroy a glioma with ridiculous regenerative abilities is to utterly destroy it, such as by reducing everything to shredded pieces of meat, and Papameyan was able to do that in a very short period of time.

“This maybe off topic, but–“

Tarshepite interrupted. He didn’t stop working as his hands still moving.

“How about that one? What’s it called–ah yes, Kudan.”

“Kudan huh.......”

Tarshepite continues, as Chario looks up at him with a skeptical look on her face.

“You see. They say they can do prophesy too, right?”

“They speak of prophecy right after birth and die almost immediately you know? And they say they only leave bad omens. One theory is that it is not really a prophecy, but rather that Kudan is drawing calamities to them. Because of how troublesome they are, they are also considered to be <Ogre>”

“I have been wondering about it a long time now–“

Tarshepait stopped and turned around, shrugging his shoulders.

“– If they don’t ‘speak’ the prophecy......... then.. What’s going to happen to Kudan? Will it still die? Or will it live and grow? And if it does, what would it look like?”

His simple question led to silence.

“Mm.”

Papameyan turned to look back at the center of the fort as though he had been knocked by something. Then Chario speaks to him.

“This sound seems to be the subhuman army approaching here. They may have finally come to retake this place. Please be careful.”

Chario held up her spear and glared at the far end of the street, the buildings keeping them from getting a clear view.

The presence of the growing chaos took the attention of everyone present.

Aiming for that moment, a shadow leaped at Tiriel from a blind spot.

It looked like a black weasel.

Two razor-sharp fangs bit down on her neck.

Then and an unpleasant sound rose.

Ferris managed to intervene in the nick of time and blocked the fangs.

Two axes were caught by her bracers attached to both her arms, sending out sparks of fire.

Ferris’s beastly eyes and the emotionless eyes stared at each other at close range.

–It was Rudra.

He swung his two tactical tomahawks, putting Ferris completely on the defensive role, and without a moment’s pause, he swung shotgun over his shoulder and pulled the trigger.

Ferris and Tiriel are blown away at the same time as several shots are fired.

When Highland Zephyr realized what was happening, Rudra was already pulling Yakumo’s arm and throwing something behind his back.

Floating through the air was a pineapple, a pineapple grenade specially made for the aliens.

“–Go to hell, baby.”

The grenade exploded.
