PATH OF THE STAR HUNTER

Chapter 8

Chapter 8: Chapter 8 Mom I don’t want to be a superhero anymore.

historical

uuf uuf haaa!

Please make no mistake about those strange sounds; these are nothing more than me, Desmond, breathing like a fish out of the water as I lie pathetically on the floor covered in sweat.

I knew that eating fruits and vegetables is not suitable for your health; all those advertisements are liars, especially you, my friendly neighbor, the spider hero; you lied to me.

Nobody can be trusted anymore; I miss my pretty sister, I miss my father, and I also miss my mother; If I could see her one more time, I would say to her: Mom, I don’t want to be a superhero anymore, can I only eat meat?

After writhing in my misfortune for a couple more minutes, I gaze at the remaining three fruits resting quietly next to me; If I would use them to fulfill my mission objective two, there is no way someone would force me to eat the rest.

The thing is that I was a person accustomed to feeling pain to a certain extent; one could not practice martial arts if one were afraid of hurting oneself a little. The problem is that I wasn’t expecting to hurt myself while I was eating a damn fruit; once the surprise of the unexpected source of pain had passed, it wasn’t that difficult for me to adjust my mood and ignore it.

After that minor incident, I pointed the hunter’s book toward the fruits and opened the quest menu.

.....

Wow not only complete goal number two but even unlock a new feature, let’s see what it’s all about.

?

It seems that it is not the only feature that is possible to unlock; it makes me curious to know what else this thing can do. Let’s review what it opens may be helpful.

That is all a description that I have there; apparently, the primary function allows me to store the resources that I obtain from the places I go; but it also has a capture function, although this is subject to many restrictions.

Capture huh? Why do I suddenly feel like a bakemon trainer? Oh, come on, I had to stop thinking about stupid things and start looking for a place to sleep.

After using Gathering and Capturing to save the Aqua Rabbit Horns, I make up my mind to seek shelter.

(Third Person POV)

Desmond spent at least a couple of hours searching until he managed to find a small rocky section in the middle of the forest, a small cave. Knowing that there is a high probability that something inhabits said cave, he decided to take things easy despite his exhaustion.

After throwing a pebble into the cave, he went back to hiding behind a couple of tall rocks and a tree, proving that his instincts were worthy of a hunter, a creature that he had not seen until now emerged from the depth of the cave.

Wasting no time, Desmond used the Analysis on it.

Thinking of the amount of information exposed by Analysis, Desmond had to put aside the fear he usually felt for spiders and learn a couple of useful things for the fight to come. First, just because of the name and its affinity with the dark element, this creature must be a specialist in sneak attacks and traps in dark places.

Second, its spider silk and exoskeleton must possess outstanding toughness given its elemental affinity for metal. Hence, arrows are unlikely to do great harm unless aimed at the spider joints.

Finally, although valuable, its eyes are probably its only weakness, which applies to any creature with eyes to begin with.

Because of all the information Desmond could get, he proceeded to observe the dark predatory spider again. And although tempted by the possibility of arachnid powers, he decided to cling to his conviction of no longer wanting to be a superhero. It had nothing to do with the fact that that thing’s fangs are, after a closer look, most likely almost 12 inches long and dripping venom.
