Chapter 87
87 I don’t like that Yi kid
“I am so glad we left before we got kicked out,” said Zi Xingxi as she sprawled her body on the car seat like a lazy cat leisurely basking in the sun, “did you have to tackle that man? He probably broke a hip from that fall.”
Zi Feiji dangled the pendant in between his fingers as he stared at it joyfully. As it gently oscillated like a pendulum he said, “It was necessary. Han Han wore a dress for this and it would be such a shame if that old bastard didn’t keep his end of the deal.”
Zi Han who for once was messing with his light brain checking his stats on the virtual simulator heard his name and looked up. When their eyes met Zi Han was a little confused. With a raised brow he straightforwardly asked, “What?”
Zi Feiji moved a little closer and said, “That man I tackled earlier is the grandmaster or better yet the godfather of mech technology. You don’t know him, and neither does the public but we old timers do. His family made the three calamities and every piece of innovative technology on mechs.... he was the mastermind.”
Zi Han who had just gotten into a cat fight with the granddaughter of the godfather of mechs felt quite regretful. His jaw dropped as he eyed his grandfather like he had been betrayed. He met a legend today yet Zi Feiji didn’t even introduce him to the master.
historical
Seeing a flash of disappointment in Zi Han’s eyes, Zi Feiji hurriedly explained. “I couldn’t introduce him like that there but I got you something even better than an introduction,” he said handing the pendant to him, “this was made by him personally and now..... it belongs to you.”
Zi Han’s eyes visibly brightened like an exploding star in the inky universe. With trembling hands, he accepted the pendant. The ornament on the pendant was shaped like a teardrop with a shimmering glossy finish like a marble.
But this thing was the furthest thing from a marble. It was one of the greatest technologies in the federation.
“This mech isn’t limited to a specific mental power level. It is one of the few if not the only one that can adapt to the owner’s mental power. When you upgrade it upgrades hence it conforms to you not you conforming to it,” further explained Zi Feiji his voice trembling with excitement.
.....
The reason why such a marvelous thing wasn’t available on the market was because the federation was ridden with corrupt officials that wanted to monopolize other people’s hard work all in the name of giving back to the people.
In truth private property intellectual or otherwise would be used to enrich officials while the bottom feeders don’t receive a cent.
After his protective mech designs were monopolized by the government grandmaster Wayne quit publishing his work and this mech was one of his top-secret projects. Since he didn’t make mechs privately Zi Feiji could only use this method to get his grandson the best technology.
These old men couldn’t resist gambling. It was like oxygen to them thus Zi Feiji could easily twist grandmaster Wayne’s hand. Zi Han excitedly hugged his grandfather with a face beaming like the two suns of Saarilia.
“Thank you so much, grandpa. I love it,” he said with his arms strongly embracing Zi Feiji that he couldn’t breathe for a second. He looked at his daughter while resting his chin on Zi Han’s shoulders.
He mouthed, “He is hugging me to death.”
Zi Xingxi chuckled silently while mouthing, “Just enjoy it.”
After a long heartwarming hug Zi Han sat back down and excitedly studied the mech while asking, “Can I try it out now.”
“No!”
“No.....”
The two responded almost simultaneously. It was like letting a person who learnt to drive a car using an automatic transmission directly drive a manual car. It’s a very bad idea. Zi Han would need to slowly adapt to it and that could only be done in a controlled environment.
Zi Han was a little unhappy but he was patient enough to wait. For now, he could only inject his mental power into the pendant and order the mech to display its image in a 4D floating plane.
While Zi Han was messing around with his new toy, Zi Feiji took the opportunity to message his daughter about something that had been grinding his gears lately.
ProudfatherZi: I don’t like that Yi kid.
MamaBear: Welcome to the club.
ProudfatherZi: I think he is a little interested in Han Han. His mother asked me to set up a date.
MamaBear: That’s not going to fuckin happen.
ProudfatherZi: Language!!!
ProudfatherZi: But if Han Han likes him we can’t really do anything except support him.
Zi Xingxi gritted her teeth reading this. She knew this was indeed the truth but she still couldn’t accept it. So she raised her head and asked him directly.
“Han Han, do you..... do you like anyone?” she asked trying to find the best way to probe into the matter without spooking the person.
Zi Han’s eyes remained glued on the projected plane of the mech as he answered, “Huh?” His brain didn’t even process her question because he was obsessively studying the cockpit of the mech.
Zi Xingxi scooched over and explained further, “What mum means is that are you romantically interested in anyone? Maybe at school or online or something?”
Zi Han who finally processed her question lagged for a bit like his brain went offline. Didn’t they tell him to stay away from all species that could get pregnant?
Dang.... was that all adults ever think off? No, he wasn’t in love and he didn’t plan to. It seemed so troublesome. He couldn’t manage his own emotional burdens let alone share someone else’s.
That is to say, he could barely manage his own emotions let alone try to manage a partner’s as well to make sure everyone is happy. No thank you. He would rather be like his grandfather. Single and happy.
“Nope. Unless if its mech I am definitely not interested,” he said with a stern expression.
Zi Xingxi felt a great sense of relief before writing a message to his father.
MamaBear: See he isn’t interested in love at all.
ProudfatherZi: That’s because he hasn’t found someone who can move his heart.
ProudfatherZi: You used to say the same thing till you know who dragged you into the pit.
MamaBear: I will keep my eye on Yi Chen. MamaBear: My son can like anyone else except that person’s surnamed Yi.
