Chapter 800 Cheating
"Great! Let's begin then!!" Travis said with a wide smile on his face. He hadn't expected Max to continue after the loss. After all, from how he saw, Max was definitely an irritating sly b*stard, and was definitely not easy to deal with.
But, from the looks of it, it seemed that Max had taken it on his pride now. It was very likely that he was trying to show off. And, Travis couldn't help but feel very pleased with his behavior.
The Game Master looked at them, and on Max's nod, he once again picked up the cup, and gave it a shake before slamming it down on the table.
"5 million..No.1.." Max placed his bid with a smile, and Synthia's eyes couldn't help but dilate a little. She perfectly knew what kind of guy Max was. He was stinky as hell, and had even felt a pain to pay the entrance fees, and yet here he was playing the game with such huge stakes.
Something was definitely wrong with the situation here..
Synthia couldn't help, but gave Max a look. But, all she could see was a calm look on his face.
On the other hand, Erina frowned a little. She felt that Max was being a bit too wasteful. She wanted to stop him, but ultimately refrained herself deciding that she would do so if the game was to continue for another round.
Preston looked at the cup, and then at Max as a smile leaked out on his face. People couldn't see it, but he could. He was currently equipped with 9* Equipment and it was actually a Mask.
This mask was given to him in order to disguise himself. After all, it was very important for him to hide his identity while dealing with Demons. Otherwise if someone traced him back to the Storms, then it would be a disaster.
Hence, he was bestowed the Mask for this mission.
But, this mask actually had another function. The thin transparent film on the eye of the mask allowed one to break down the formation, and see the energy flow with ease. With such an ability, he could easily send his senses through the formation, and determine the number on the dice.
"No. 5..1 million.." Preston didn't back down, and went with the same amount as Max. He was quite confident in his skills.
Travis happily followed after him as well.
For the first time, the Game Master had a little frown on his face as he slowly lifted the cup. He was obviously skilled at his job, and could throw any number he wanted. His last two throws had been calculated. But, since he was on neither one's side, it was still fair. But, when Preston guessed the numbers correctly, he felt that something was wrong. He didn't think that the kid was able to read his movements. After all, this was gambling, and not combat they were talking about.
Hence, he felt that there were chances of cheating. So, this time he had made a random throw. Even he couldn't tell which number it was, much less Preston.
Everyone had their eyes on the table, and as the number was revealed the smile on Preston's face slowly vanished and his face turned ugly.
It was One, not five.
"It seems my luck has yet to leave my side.." Max let out a light laugh as he looked at Preston, and then at Travis with a mocking smile.
'How is this possible?' Preston had a frown on his face. He was sure that it was number five, it didn't make sense for it to suddenly turn into one.
'Did I decide too early? Was the dice still spinning?' He couldn't think of anything else here.
"Let's play another round.." Travis forced a smiled as he clenched his fist in anger. Max's mocking smile obviously did its job of provoking him.
"I think it's enough for today.." Erina finally interrupted, and gave Max a look.
Preston's face turned even ugly on seeing that. She hadn't asked him to stop, but surely did ask Max when he won and recovered his loss.
'This b*tch..'
This guy surely was a small minded person, but even at that, he had some ability. He controlled his emotion knowing the priorities, and acted according to it.
"It's just a little game. If you don't want to play, it's fine. But, don't blame me if people assume you to be the type of guy to run away after a little success.." Preston said it in a manner as if he was very helpless with the situation.
Synthia was calmly observing the situation. From what she could see, her brother was definitely confident for some bizarre reason, and it might not be in Max's best interest to continue.
But, she was looking forward to seeing how Max was going to deal with it. She knew he was not the kind of guy to take a loss.
"Well, I don't like running as well.." Max smiled, and then looked at Erina, "It's fine, I will only use the money I won..that should be all right?"
Erina obviously couldn't say anything to that. She was only advising as a friend, and now that he had already made a choice she had to step back.
"Start it.." Max looked at the Game Master and he nodded.
And, hence the game once again began.
"2 million on No. 3.." Preston made sure to take his time this time around before placing his bid and Travis soon followed after him.
Max, on the other hand, smiled as he pushed his bid onto No. 2.historical
One the cup was lifted, only Max had the smile remaining on his face while it had vanished from his opponents face.
'Impossible!!' Preston cursed inwardly. He couldn't believe his eyes. This had to be a joke.
'I am sure it was three..how did it turn into two..' He couldn't help but look at Max who just shrugged and acted as if it was all his luck.
"It seems I will be treating you guys today.." Max laughed as he looked at Synthia and Erina, and the two had smiles on their faces.
"You wanna play again?" Max asked the guy as his lips curled up slighly, "I have the money.."
He obviously was taunting.
'This b*stard..' Preston clenched his fist as his body shook in anger.
