Chapter 73
“See? I told you she’s smart.” Void Walker said to the ashen faced Monkey King.
“Smart? Diving into a massive lake without knowing anything about it is smart? She’s the dumbest and luckiest person I know!” Monkey King wiped the sweat off his forehead with relief. “I almost lost a hundred resource planets just like that to a god-damned hyper rare Mutated Goldenscale Electric Eel. She’s lucky the Eel Lord did not discharge its electricity!”
“Hahaha! Give her some credit, at least she thought of going into the water to deal with the Mutated Razorback Wyverns!” Void Walker laughed. “Too bad your wager is for her to reach level 100. There’s still a long way to go until she gets to that level.”
“A very long way.” Monkey King grumbled as he looked at Jessica’s figure speeding through the forest. “I hope her luck holds out.”
“Don’t worry. She’ll be fine. It’s going to be a pretty boring first night for us. Elliot is safe, Jennifer is safe, Jessica is probably going to be fine in that area. Sigh. I wish something exciting would happen.” Void Walker sighed.
“They had a really exciting first day, give them a break.” Monkey King said. “Besides, there are many exciting things going on with the other players.
Himari Suzuki is also thriving. Her forces had already killed all of the beasts in her area and created a near impregnable base. Without a high-level Mythical Grade beast attacking her soon, she’ll probably be able to set up a powerful fortress and rule over the whole of Tokyo from it!
James Antetokunpo is also doing pretty well for himself. Although he’s not a base-builder like Himari, he remains the leader of at least five of the best racers in the entire Game.”
Void Walker yawned and closed her eyes. “I don’t care about them. I’m going to sleep for a bit, if you’re staying up, please let me know if anything happens to Elliot or to his sisters!”
Monkey King shook his head helplessly at the Void Walker, and then looked at his screens once more. He had six screens following six different characters. Elliot, Jessica, Jennicer, Hailey and Himari. The sixth one wasn’t following a player, but a monkey.
San Wu Kong.
He was currently fighting against a bunch of powerful mutated ant-like insects with a huge metal pipe he had found somewhere. At level 55, Wu Kong was no longer a cute little monkey, but a tall and powerful adolescent monkey standing at an impressive 1.7 meters tall.
He had no problems dealing with a bunch of insects, and the Monkey King wasn’t really interested in his current fight.
What he was extremely interested in was the path San Wu Kong was on. He would reach the territory of a powerful Legendary-Grade Mutated Sabertooth Tiger Lord in an hour or so.
At level 112, he would be a fearsome adversary for San Wu Kong, even with his powerful Giant Armored Mammoth and his ridiculously strong Lightning Strike attack.
Monkey King glanced at the sleeping Void Walker, and decided that she probably wasn’t interested in watching San Wu Kong fight the Tiger Lord, so he left her alone and continued to patiently watch Wu Kong clear out the insects methodically.
It may be a boring night for Elliot and his two siblings, but for many others, the terror and the fun was just beginning.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Wu Kong swung his two meter long metal rod in a wide swing, and smashed the heads to two ant monsters the size of motorbikes that had failed to dodge in time.
His wide swing quickly transitioned into a series of thrusts that burst the heads of several more ant monsters.
He had been fighting the mutated giant ants for a few hours now, and had even gained five whole levels along the way. But even so, there was no end in sight for him. The ants were just too numerous.
Very luckily for him, he was just one of many “prey” for the ants which had swarmed the forest in their thousands. Beasts of many kinds and thousands of human beings seeking refuge in the forest were dying every minute.
And because of that, the ants weren’t fully focused on him, and he was able to handle the twenty or so ants which were constantly dying to his powerful attacks and which were somehow getting replaced by new ones automatically.
Like the spiders which had ravaged the part of the land where Elliot was, the ants in Wu Kong’s region had taken over.
However, unlike the spiders, the ants were much more numerous and much more coordinated. The forest Elliot was in was but one of many areas that they were trying to subjugate.
At that moment, as he was easily and ruthlessly killing his thousandth or so ant, Wu Kong toyed with the idea of following the massive ant army back to their nest and killing the ant queen. But he soon discarded the idea.
The only reason he was still able to fight at that moment was simply because there were too many prey for the ants to kill off quickly. But all that would definitely change in a few hours as the alien beast tribes and human beings either died or escaped. And if he found himself surrounded by thousands of motorcycle sized ants and in the pitch black darkness of the night’|historical
No, his first priority remained getting out of the ant territory as quickly as possible and pressing on to his real target. The Behemoth Lightning Apes.
Smash!
After making his decision, Wu Kong increased his smashing speed and blitzed through the forest which was full of angry and dying beast roars as well as the eerie clickety sounds of ant exoskeletons bumping into each other.
The ants were truly an extremely dangerous group. Even though he was merely passing through the forest at a tangent and didn’t really enter the heart of the forest, the number of ants that he had to face was astounding.
It was truly difficult to imagine what the heart of the forest was like at that moment. He stopped himself from thinking too far ahead into the future where the ants continued to grow and take over more lands. No, that’s a problem for future San Wu Kong to handle.
Right then, he had to focus on getting out of the forest alive before night fell fully upon them.
Ant after ant fell to his vicious strikes and after another hour of nonstop fighting, Wu Kong finally exited the forest.
