Chapter 510 - Liquid War armor!
Steady progress without any hindrance!
Ever since Xia Fei’s seventh brain region was repaired, the gloominess, which was clutching his heart, had exploded! There was no longer anything that could get in his way!
“Level 2! Xia Fei’s promoted to a level 2 Law Warrior!” Yu Luxuan excitedly declared.
There was complete silence in the crowd. Everyone refused to believe that the cripple, whom they were mocking mere days ago, had made such a rapid advancement through the ranks like a rocket!
The crystal-clear pattern depicted on the screen however was a stark reminder to everyone that Xia Fei had indeed achieved a level 2 cultivation. Machines did not lie and it was even less likely that head instructor Luxuan would.
Patriarch Yujiang clapped his hands softly as he nodded slightly at Xia Fei.
Despite being very much unwilling, everyone present began to join Yujiang in a round of raucous applause as jealousy filled their hearts.
“How could it be? Isn’t the speed of Xia Fei’s promotion a bit too fantastical?”
“Man, I’m only level 2 after cultivating for two years, and this guy caught right up in just half a month.”
historical
“Don’t be so depressed, you’ll only end up angering yourself to death comparing yourself to others. See, even our patriarch has taken the lead in applauding the man, so it looks like Xia Fei, this rascal, struck gold.”
The scene was very odd. Many were feeling depressed while clapping, sad over the fact that they did not have the talent to so swiftly learn Law like Xia Fei.
Xia Fei quietly backed to a corner, his confidence and composure had both returned to his face.
The Energy Master Duba stood up, walked over to Xia Fei’s side. and patted him on the back with a bright smile, “Well done! Looks like this old man has really underestimated you before.”
Xia Fei hardly had a good impression of Duba, and his change in attitude toward Xia Fei made the young man feel disgusted. He had not forgotten the old man’s ugly and menacing look of extreme detest before.
There was no need to show hatred for someone on the face, though, and Xia Fei was fond of smiling to a nemesis before stabbing them viciously in the back, which was why he had not shown it on his face and even bantered amiably with the old man.
“Even Master Duba is expressing interest in Xia Fei; Looks like it’s going to be hard for him not to make it rich at this rate.”
“But of course. We, Law Warriors, need Origin Crystals the most, and Xia Fei already has great potential. With Master Duba’s assistance and Patriarch Yujiang’s support, it looks like he’ll be soaring through the levels at this rate!”
Beside him, Han Yuubei looked completely pale. As a genius who had been picked to join the Law Realm since he was young, there was a kind of innate pride in him, which meant even the fame Xia Fei enjoyed in the Alliance was not enough to register in his eyes. This was because he had always regarded Xia Fei and him as existences of different standings.
It was not just Han Yuubei who felt this way. Practically every sapling that the Yu family was secretly nurturing shared this thinking, which was why when they came across Xia Fei and then discovered that his hero from the Alliance was actually a cripple with a ruined seventh brain region, the sense of superiority they felt became even greater. This was also why they had not held anything back and let loose at him before.
Of course, it was too late for these people to have any regrets over what they had done.
The assessment for promotion proceeded quickly, and the Yu family’s own disciples came up after both Xia Fei and Han Yuubei. These disciples were a lot younger than Xia Fei, with the oldest just under twelve. Because they were born into this Law Realm, their interaction with Laws were much earlier than those from the Panhuman Alliance. They also had exceptional talents, able to become Law Warriors at a very young age, thereby proving that it was not without any basis to say that they had a warrior’s bloodline in them.
Next were level 1 warriors who were promoted to level 2, to level 3... There were quite a lot of them, though their numbers drastically decreased from level 6 onward.
There were only two who had climbed from level 5 to 6, and one for 6 to 7. There was even no one who had successfully passed the 7 to 8 threshold!
“Looks like level 6 Law Warrior is the pivotal point, and promoting from that point onward becomes extremely difficult,” Phantom whispered into Xia Fei’s ears.
Xia Fei nodded. Just in this city alone had no fewer than 30,000 Law Warriors, and even if there was only a single assessment once every three months, just having one or two promoted at that level was truly rather paltry.
“Next, Han Yuudong, level 9 assessment promotion!” Yu Luxuan announced loudly.
A man in his late twenties then hopped up the stage, looking very similar to Han Yuubei.
Xia Fei was a little surprised. ‘Han Yuudong?’
He turned around and looked at Han Yuubei who was standing behind him. Sure enough, a smug look appeared on his face.
‘No wonder he’s so arrogant. Turns out he has backing,’ Xia Fei thought to himself.
Han Yuudong appeared to be more dependable than his younger brother, though Han Yuubei looked more refined. However, the ears, nose, and eyes of these two brothers were uncannily identical, so they were immediately identifiable and clearly delineated the blood relations they shared.
When picking out talents in the Law Realm, blood mattered as well. The minority of external warriors were mostly relatives who were inextricably linked to the Yu family or perhaps a descendent of another warrior who had been promoted in the Law Realm. After all, in terms of bloodline, the genes of a warrior’s descendant would naturally be better than the random commoner, and a good example would be how the Han family’s two brothers had both made it into the Law Realm.
Han Yuudong wore the assessment helmet that Yu Luxuan held in his hand and then began to get on his task.
“Level 9!”
“A level 9 Law Warrior!”
The crowd cheered even as Yu Luxuan loudly proclaimed, “Han Yuudong has successfully advanced to level 9 and attained the qualifications to cultivate in Crow City!”
The crowd was tumultuous! The promotion after level 9 was becoming a Law Sovereign!
In order to aid the people under the Yu family in becoming Law Sovereigns, they had set up a citadel by the name of Crow City. While the name did not sound auspicious, it was actually a city where the best resources of the family were gathered, and it was said that an individual would receive a hundred Origin Crystals as their monthly stipend there! Numerous equipment and medicines were available to help warriors in their promotions, too. Even a personal tutor was designated for everyone.
The ability to enter Crow City was a symbol of power, for leaving it would signify that they had become a celebrated Law Sovereign! That would be an entire tier above a Law Warrior!
Han Yuudong had quite an emotionless personality, taking off the helmet without a word and handing it to Luxuan before he stood beside his brother, completely disregarding the cheer from the crowd as if he deserved all this recognition.
“Brother, congratulations for finally promoting!” Han Yuubei proudly said.
Han Yuudong nodded as he flashed a slight smile to his brother. It looked a little forced, a little exaggerated.
“And this concludes the promotion assessment. Next up is the free challenge. Every candidate, who has successfully gotten promoted, can choose an opponent to fight. This is a good opportunity, and I won’t reject anyone who wishes to challenge me, the instructor, either.”
A smattering of laughter came from under the stage. Yu Luxuan was of course joking. Only someone crazy or tired of living would seek to spar with the head instructor if they had nothing to do.
Xia Fei instantly stepped out without even a moment’s thought. While he had indeed not anticipated that Han Yuubei would have such a powerful older brother as a backer, Xia Fei did not have any intention of changing his mind.
He would return the favor to anyone who took a swipe at him. This had always been the mad dog mentality that Xia Fei was proud of, and to top it off with his theory of price, this was the very foundational belief that Xia Fei lived his life by, so there was no reason he would back down just because his opponent had a strong brother behind him. Fear? This word did not exist in Xia Fei’s vocabulary; he was even famed for being insane in human territory.
“Xia Fei, you can’t possibly be planning to challenge me, right?” Yu Luxuan jokingly laughed.
His right hand was inadvertently shaking with a clenched fist. He had been injured by Xia Fei’s attack last time, and he was still in pain since.
It was unknown why Yu Luxuan had a measure of expectation in him. He had been joking about being challenged, but deep down, he was really hoping that Xia Fei would look for him to be an opponent. It had to be mentioned that Yu Luxuan was a distinguished head instructor, a level 3 Law Sovereign! Xia Fei was merely a newly promoted Law Warrior, yet he actually provoked his desire to fight; even Yu Luxuan himself found this to be hilarious.
“Han Yuubei, this is our agreement; have you forgotten?” Xia Fei coldly remarked with folded arms.
Sure enough, Xia Fei did not choose Yu Luxuan as the opponent, and he shrugged, vaguely disappointed.
Han Yuubei’s forehead went numb. At this very moment, Xia Fei was of a higher level than him, and the last level 1 Law Warrior who fought with Xia Fei was still lying in the hospital, not able to stand for at least half a year. That was when Xia Fei was just a level 1 Law Warrior, and he was now a level 2, meaning that he would be that much stronger than before!
Han Yuubei nodded through gritted teeth, somewhat helplessly looking at his elder brother.
Han Yuudong glared at Xia Fei, a fierce mug on his face.
“Take this,” Han Yuudong reached into his spatial ring and took out a box which he gave to his brother. “Don’t be afraid. Your brother’s here; and no one will dare to harm you!”
These words were clearly spoken out loud for Xia Fei to hear, who pretended not to have heard what was said, flexing his wrists casually.
The silver box was not too large, and Han Yuubei stared at the box as a fiery glow appeared in his eyes.
“Yes! Watch me, brother!”
Xia Fei was quite surprised, though had no clue what Han Yuubei had gotten in his hands. All it took was a single glance at the box and Han Yuubei was no longer afraid and was, instead, filled with confidence.
“Kill him!” Han Yuudong said as if he was giving a command, his tone short and urgent so that everyone present could hear his words.
Han Yuubei strode over and approached Xia Fei, his fear all gone. Instead, he was acting very arrogant, no different from when he had first made a mockery out of Xia Fei.
The situation was very strange. A single item was all it took for Han Yuubei to have a complete change in his attitude. Xia Fei had no idea what that item was, but he knew well that it must contain something extraordinary within.
Han Yuubei set the box down on the ground and opened it. A small silver pearl, which seemed to be alive, crawled out of the box, inching its way up Han Yuubei’s body until it became a set of armor!
“That’s Liquid War armor!”
“That’s right; it’s an authentic Liquid War armor, made completely of liquid metal, able to take up any form as it desires!”
“The lowest grade Liquid War armor costs at least 10,000 grade 2 Origin Crystals! How could the Han brothers have such a quality item in their possession?”
“I have no idea. In any case, Xia Fei is in trouble this time!”
The crowd clamored, with many eyes sparkling with greed. The appearance of a Liquid War armor had shocked everyone greatly!
Xia Fei did not recognize or know the metal used to form this war armor. The body of the armor was a sort of liquid metal, very sturdy and hard to manipulate. If not for Warstar’s energy running out, it would be impossible to tell who would have won or lost their fight before.
Liquid metal had been developed by the king of mechs, and now that he had seen its appearance here in the Law Realm again, it looked like the Sentinel Goddess Sophie was not lying when she said that her father was still alive in the Law Realm. However, he wondered how effective the liquid metal would be after becoming a warsuit.
Xia Fei was still in deep thought just when Han Yuubei finished changing out his equipment.
Letting out a mirthless laugh, Han Yuubei proudly bragged, “I Bet you’re dazed by this, huh? Just wait for your death now!”
Xia Fei smiled, pulling out a dark-red short club from his spatial ring. This was indeed the bloodsucking dagger that he had been ignoring this entire time, the Blood Crystal!
A bout of laughter could be heard from below the stage.
“What weapon is that?”
“It looks like a club, and it’s a very ugly looking club.”
“A club? The opponent took out a set of Liquid War armor; does Xia Fei plan to use that club to bash his opponent with it? That’s the greatest joke I’ve seen my entire life!”
