Chapter 437
437 The Pocket Cabin looks fantastic
“I fainted when everything went against what I tried to achieve. Now I am here, telling my final tale with my arm hurting and my fingers not moving.” Jun Ye Rim concluded the explanation as if she was ready to die at any moment.
“Jun Ye Rim. I have one question I would like to know from you. Does Ming Xiao Fan know about Vincent’s identity?” Ester asked out of worry.
“No. I told no one.” Jun Ye Rim answered.
“Great. Then how about we tell you about our past? You can figure out if we are bad or good people on your own. I don’t like hearing you speak about death so frivolously.” Ester suggested, hoping Jun Ye Rim could see them in a different light and stop asking for death.
Jun Ye Rim averted her gaze. “I don’t need to be influenced by your stories. But I can listen since I have nowhere to go.” She somewhat agreed.
*Emerald Lionheart Mansion*
The first thing Vincent wanted to do was to speak with Elias’s mother, Bessy Wittwoll. Fortunately, she was waiting outside the mansion for their arrival with Maid Xu and Zefine.
Vincent sat in a room with Bessy Wittwoll. As he and Kazumi had guessed, she was a beauty, and her skin looked young.

“Uhmm... Vincent Lionheart. Is there something wrong?” Bessy asked.
“Sorry, miss Bessy Wittwoll.” Vincent lowered his head and apologized. “I have a basic skill similar to the mage’s Inspection, and I was checking your stats without permission.”
Bessy became worried when hearing this. She tried her hardest to keep the condition she suffers from a secret from her son. But now Vincent discovered the secret she wanted to hide. She began to worry her son was going to find out.
“You... know... everything?” She asked with a wavering voice.
“I will keep it a secret, so you don’t have to worry about anyone finding out. ” Vincent said.
*Cough* “Let’s change the subject. Can I trust you the secret of my wife Sakura, who is of the demon race living here?” Vincent tried to change the subject after discovering how Bessy suffered from the condition of breaking a powerful magic contract or multiple small ones.
*Gulp* “What you saw is the price I had to have a better life with my son in this kingdom. It is not from betraying the trust of many people. As for your wife Sakura, I was scared at first, but now I don’t mind being in her presence in the dining hall.” Bessy said. She nodded and continued, “If you need to be sure of my trust, then we can sign a magic contract.”
Her words contained a lot of questions, yet Vincent felt it was best to be thankful for what she decided to reveal.
“I will take your word that you will not break my trust.” Vincent decided to trust her words for now and have Maid Xu keep an eye on her.
“So, how do you feel living here? I hope you have no problems.”
“Well, I have a problem of sorts.” Bessy suddenly stated. “I feel treated too perfectly, to be honest. May I ask what sort of payment you require from me? Are scrolls the only thing you require and nothing else?”
After Bessy change the subject, she and Vincent spent some time discussing the payment.
Bessy looked worried most of the time because Vincent never tried to take advantage of her like she usually experiences because of her beauty or because of the bad karma she is suffering from.
“Okay, Vincent Lionheart. I will produce one low-level scroll of my choice, with a low-level magic contract as a top priority. Thank you once again for giving me and my son shelter and great hospitality. It makes me recall what I lost...” *cough* Bessy stood up in a hurry. She said, “I have to meet a client and purchase some materials. I will give you three scrolls next week.” before leaving in a hurry.
‘No wonder Bessy Wittwoll feels burdened by how good everyone is treating her. I think she was the wife of a high-ranking noble. She and Elias might have run away for some reason. But now I feel bad to ask for payment.’ Vincent thought.
He snickered while thinking, ‘I bet Kazumi would tell me how not asking for a price will put pressure on the person receiving the favor as they might be later asked to offer or do something they would not like. ‘
“The scrolls remind me of Ester. She managed to survive with two scrolls. A minor healing scroll and probably a stronger or better quality low-level magic contract.” Vincent said to himself while looking at the ceiling. “But I wonder. What is she hiding and why did she accept to pay with a scroll so easily?”
Shortly, Vincent left the room and went to find Sofy. With the horses given enough time to rest, Sofy drove Vincent to the Sunrise mansion.
Later, Vincent followed a butler and waited near a freshly built cabin until Byron Sunrise arrived. As Vincent received a tour of the inside, his face couldn’t stop smiling.
The cabin looked great from the outside. The outer walls were made of unprocessed logs based on Vincent’s wish to have the cabin blend with nature. The foundation was made out of iron and stone. It was heavy and robust.
It was so heavy that the construction workers and blacksmiths became confused as to why Marquis Byron Sunrise wanted to build a cabin on his property made for a customer. Only a few knew, but they couldn’t reveal the truth.
The outside was as Vincent wished. It was like a beautiful wrapping containing a wonderful gift inside. The furnishing was top quality, and it looked fantastic.
Vincent went to the first floor and began to wonder if he was receiving too much. Wardrobes, beds, nightstands, light gemstones, carpet, curtains, chairs, and a desk. The large bedroom had it all.
“Uhmm... is this really all for me?” Vincent asked with a worried expression. He was feeling what Bessy felt when talking to him. The was suffering from the feeling of receiving too much generosity.
“Haha.” *Smack* “All for fifteen silver coins, mister, magically eat two hundred plates in one sitting.” Byron teased Vincent since he knew how incredible Vincent’s soul-bound storage was.
“Hehe... so you heard...” Vincent nervously replied while rubbing his back.
.....
“News travels fast when the loser is from a prominent family. I heard how the head of the Blackheart family wants to meet with Marquis Darwin Griffinheart to cancel the humiliation the family will suffer next Saturday.” Byron said with a smile.
“So they want to escape from...”
“Nah.” Byron interrupted. “The Darwin I know will not concede even if he declares war on the Blackheart family. Moreover, the message I received stated how Darwin he gave his word in front of too many people to back out from a simple threat.”
“I hope I didn’t cause unwanted trouble...”
“Let the big boys duke it out.” Byron interrupted again. “Your job is to enjoy life and have children. You have a lot of women after all, hehe.”
