Chapter 134 - Meeting Janus
Lucas nodded coldly. But he was not exactly as calm on the inside. Or the outside. His palms were already sweating, and he was just not showing it to anybody. He started walking towards the car that halted a few meters away. The driver had already gotten off the car and looked at Zeus with hostility.
"You cannot hope to touch his hair even if you trained for another thousand years. Maybe if you tried for another ten thousand years, you would start having a chance. But you don't have that long, so I suggest that you enjoy your life, and not throw it away by doing something meaningless." Lucas told the driver as he went back and sat in the car.
The driver looked at the now empty position where Zeus used to stand, and his eyes widened with shock. He could have sworn that there was a man right there, and that man had attacked his master with lightning bolts. He rubbed his eyes, but there were still black charred marks on the ground.
"I must be high. Something is just wrong." the driver muttered as he got back into the car. He then started driving at an incredible speed towards Mount Olympus.
The mountain was closing at an incredible speed, and they were making excellent time. Within ten minutes, Lucas was right at the entrance. There was a huge sign that read '?λυμπο?'. It was clearly Olympus in Greek.
"I don't know why people still stick to their native languages for things like this. I mean, language and all is important, but why not use English for everything official? I know that this is Mount Olympus, but what about some poor guy who didn't know, and never came here? He would take one look at the sign and think that he was in the wrong place. Even worse, he would go to the mountain right next to this one. That would be truly tragic, wouldn't it?" Lucas shook his head.
"Just don't display all of your radical ideas in front of the gods. The gods invented conservatism." Fenrir warned Lucas.
"Trust me when I say this. I am not joking when I say I know. I swear to god. The way that Aphrodite looked at me when I asked her for a one night stand, as if I was asking for her hand in marriage. My god! And she doesn't even have the best morals. She cheated on her husband from the get go. She doesn't have the right to judge me." Lucas scoffed as he started walking towards the Mountain and the steps that led up to the top.
Then, someone stopped him.
"Who are you? You do not have permission to enter the mountain. Do you not know that this mountain is off the limits for every one? Only those with permission from the government can climb this." a person in a uniform said.
Only not did Lucas notice that there were many squad cars and police patrolling the area. He did recognize the sirens, but he did not expect it to be of this extent.
"Another one of these stupid roadblocks that the gods put. I must really respect their dedication to keep their privacy. But why not instead just remove themselves from this realm, and make their own?" Lucas shook his head.
He then looked at the driver, who had gotten off by now. The driver approached the police, and he handed them a phone, with a phone call already on. The police who stopped the car started talking to the phone in greek, and after a few minutes, he gave the phone back to the driver.
The police bowed towards Lucas.
"I am sorry for stopping you without knowing who you were. A good friend of the commissioner is a good friend of mine. Please have a good trip inside, and be sure not to touch any of the shrines. They are sacred, and it is believed that there are parts of the mountain that are still inhabited by the gods." the police said as he moved aside, letting Lucas pass.
"Trust me. That is why I am here." Lucas chuckled.
He then started walking up the stairs. With every step, he felt an extra pressure mount up against him. Lucas shook his head and took a deep breath. He turned around to make sure that there was no one around him. He then said,
"I am not here to do anything bad. I come in peace. As you can see, even Zeus let me in. That means that he allowed me to come here. I just want to meet one person, and that is all. I am not going to use any power to resist you guys, but if you keep pushing me out, I am going to have to resist. I need to meet this one person." Lucas said.
"And why must we listen to you? You are the exact opposite of what I think is a reliable person who keeps his word." it seemed like a thousand voices were whispering the same thing in Lucas' ears, creating an echoing effect.
"What do you want then? I do not need to take this crap. I am already conceding a lot by not doing anything. I am not resisting. Take that as my word. It is a lot more than I have given many more before you. And since when was some random goddess the gatekeeper? Where is Heracles? Now that dude had taste. I would rather talk to him than some creepy old woman." Lucas said.
"You dare!" the voices grew louder.
"I am not the sort of guy to fear you. Not even one bit. I have seen far worse, and I have been far worse. I am the guy who doesn't just go to hell. I am the VIP there. So why don't you just stop this charade and let me pass. Your master already gave me his permission." Lucas said coldly.
"Do you think that just because we let you pass the last time when you used some force, we will do it again? There is a reason that mistakes are made. So that we do not commit them again. I will not make the mistake that Heracles made a few centuries ago. I will not disappoint the gods." the voices said in unison.
"Well. Your loss. Now, I am just pissed." Lucas said. His eyes turned red.
"Fenrir. I am going to need your strength for this one. I am not at the level where I can take a minor fighting god. I can take a normal non combat god at most." Lucas said.
"Already on it. But this is not the best way to enter, you know. You can keep trying to convince her, and sooner or later, someone will cave and let you in. For this one, she has way too many opinions. Why not spend a little more time trying to pass? Why do you have to brute force it?" Fenrir asked.
"Because she is adamant on wasting my time and I do not like that one bit," Lucas said with a growl.
"That is enough. Both of you. You can retreat back now. Father told me to take care of this. And Lucas. I thought that you would learn your lesson from the last time. You just cannot take all the gods on your own. The fact that you are still alive still manages to impress me. I do not know how and why Zeus did not kill you." a strong and authoritative voice came from ahead, far above Lucas.
"Finally! A face that someone wants to see. Heracles. How are you? I have been meaning to visit you and all, but you know how this thing goes. I am not supposed to be seen working with gods like you, or both of us will have a problem. Anyways, I have someone to meet. Can you let me pass? Your father already gave me his permission. I wonder though. Is Zeus' grip of power on Olympus loosening? Because even a gate keeper does not seem to care about his opinions." Lucas smiled.
"I care about my king. I just do not trust you, you damned mortal. Stop sowing dissent amongst our ranks. I shall curse you." the voices screamed with anger.
"I just hear an old hag screaming saying that she made a mistake." Lucas chuckled.
"Lucas. Stop messing with her. Come with me. I will take you up to the main hall, and you can just find your way from there. After that, just do not mess with anyone here. Go to where you want to go." Heracles got down, and he was finally visible to Lucas.
He was a god alright. Shining in golden light, wearing a classic Greek armor, and standing at a tall ten feet, he was the strongest mortal of all of Greek myth.
