Chapter 46 - Intense Battle
"You just shut up. Stop interrupting me.", she shouted.
"Well, just start fighting properly instead.", he said. She rolled her eyes and turned away. Her arms started thickening up, and her arms became a thick branch. She held her hands together and the small twigs that made up her arms started intertwining and the arms became one. They formed a shield in front of her, and she stood like a shield guard in preparation for something..
She was right, and a thick beam shot from where Meredith was sitting. Eva was pushed back a few steps, and her feet screeched on the floor as she moved. Her arms started smoking, and sparks of fire could be seen.
Her arms separated almost immediately and the twigs wriggled. They slowly turned peachy and back into normal hands.
Eva looked pained as she shook her hands. Lucas looked at her.
"Aren't you like weak to fire? If she keeps attacking you, then you are going to be at a huge disadvantage.", he said.
"Don't point that out like that.", she snarled.
"Hey, I am just pointing the facts out.", he raised his hands up. "I just want to make sure that you are going to win."
He sighed and he turned around and started walking towards Praneeth and the rest. Behind him, Meredith's eyes returned to normalcy and her vacant eyes were now occupied by a black hue. The surroundings of her eyes were filled with dark veins that were visible. Her mouth curled up to a creepy smile and her sharp shark like teeth were visible from even that big a distance.
"Never turn your back in a fight", she said in a low voice. This time, it was from her mouth, and her voice could not be heard from all around them.
Even though they were far away, Lucas could hear her. He was still walking though, as if nothing happened. All of a sudden, another beam of light appeared. It beamed from a direction that no one saw coming and struck Lucas.historical
Smoke filled the place around him, and his state could not be seen.
"Huh. I was worried for nothing. The Marquess told me that he was going to be the biggest problem. Why was he that easy to deal with? Well, the things arrogance does for you.", she said.
The council members stood unmoving. They did not say a thing.
The smoke cleared slowly, and a figure could be seen. Lucas stood there unmoving, and his back was completely charred. His shirt was burnt through, and white furry skin could be seen.
Lucas' expression could not be seen, and he did not even move a muscle.
"Oh no. That shirt that he is wearing. Isn't that the jacket that he got from Prince?", Michael suddenly said.
"Wait what? That's what you are concerned about?", Arthur scoffed.
"Yes. That is what I am worried about. Prince is dead. That jacket is one of a kind, a memory from a friend. Lucas must be furious right now.", Michael stepped back.
"He is not even moving. He must be unconscious because of that attack. She even told him that she was going to attack, and he still didn't move. It was his fault.", Arthur pointed out.
"He did the right thing not moving.", Eva suddenly said. "He knew that if he moved, she would have attacked her with the traps that she placed around him. How did he know that?"
A tremor shook the floor. Arthur bent down to regain his balance. All of them looked at Lucas. He was clearly the cause of this. In all the smoke, two red glints suddenly appeared. Lucas moved now. He turned around to face Meredith.
His face was filled with soot and he looked like a coal miner. His face was grim, and all that playfulness from before disappeared. He raised his foot and struck it down.
Bam!
The circular wall around them started collapsing. The ceiling stayed put, though.
"I was conservative, Praneeth. I made sure that Eva got her chance. But now, I am done waiting. I am done letting your feelings get the better of you.", he spoke with a hoarse voice.
All of a sudden, his body started distorting, and he disappeared from his position. In the blink of an eye, he appeared behind Meredith. He slammed his hand on Meredith's neck, and she raised her hand in defence. It was clearly not very effective, as she was thrown from her place and fell towards the council members in response.
Lucas disappeared again, and appeared above Meredith. With his elbow, he slammed down on her back, which was wide open.
Splurt!
Meredith coughed out blood from her mouth. She said with a weakened voice. "You dare call yourself righteous? By sneak attacking me?", she coughed as she spoke.
"Who was the one who started it?", Lucas sneered. His feet were right next to her face. He put his right foot on her head and pressed on her skull.
"Aaaaaargh!", she shouted. She moved her hands, and a huge ball of fire appeared from her hands and she threw it towards Lucas' face.
