Chapter 707 Left-handed? Right-handed?
Meanwhile, as the night fell, bringing with it calmness and comfort to others, it was anything but that for some people.
Noah stared wide-eyed at the video playing on a loop before him. At first, he was yet to find out what had happened. But the moment he did, he just turned mute and deaf to the world.
All he could see was Theo's smile at the end. It was a smile filled with provocation and arrogance. It was challenging anyone watching the video to come and fight him and Noah could not determine what to make from it for quite some time.
"What do you think, Noah?" Joshua finally could not tolerate the silence and looked at the man who sat dumbfounded for a long time. "That's Theo. What do we do?"
Ian pursed his lips as he stared at his friend before his eyes fell on the now-paused video focused on Theo after he murdered Charles.
While Aria had taken over Ian's shift, Ivy returned to work and accompanied her father in hopes of discovering what had happened between him and the old Carter. Something must have happened, her father's reaction was too unreadable and suspicious.
Noah did not speak a word and played the video again. This time, he watched everything keenly, not missing any detail. It was as though he was trying to assimilate himself into the scene to find out what exactly had happened. His eyes narrowed when the man in the video started his plan and he paused the video immediately.
"Look at that." He pointed towards the screen and Joshua and Ian leaned forward on either side to look at what he was referring to. But in vain. They could not discern anything.
"What? What are you talking about?" Joshua frowned when he could not find anything dubious.
"Did you see how he murdered Charles?" Noah continued, his voice calm and composed as though he was unaffected by anything.
"Yeah, what about it?" Ian's gaze moved to his friend as he raised his brows questioningly. Since he was this serene and expressionless, it only meant he had found something they had missed, something that would help them calm down too.
"Look at the man's hands." Noah pointed out what they had missed and Ian's eyes returned to the screen as he played the video.
"Observe."
"Oh, my freaking hell!!" Ian exclaimed while Joshua looked at the two men in confusion, unable to determine what they were talking about. He scratched his head and played the video again but found nothing abnormal.
"What's it, guys? What am I missing?" Joshua could not wait any longer and glared at his friends, who had gone silent instead of answering.
"This man is not Theo," Noah answered before leaning back on his chair and folding his hands. "Maybe his walking style, eyes, and expressions match Theo's. But he is not Theo."
"How can you say that? What did you notice?"
"Check his hands when he was cutting off the oxygen supply."
Joshua followed the video and looked at the perpetrator's hands.
"He is mostly using his right hand. Even when he strangled Charles, his right hand was over his left, not the other way round." Noah explained.
"Okay." Joshua still had an expression of confusion and stared at the screen stupidly. "But how does this explain that the man is not Theo?" historical
"Well," Ian let out a chuckle, his shoulders dropping in relief. Since he first saw the video, he had been tense and worried. Now that the truth was out, he was relieved. He was exhausted but relieved.
"Theo was left-handed. In most cases, in such important situations, the left hand would do all the jobs. It's instinct." Ian explained the point that Joshua had overlooked completely.
"Moreover, I have seen Theo strangle people quite a few times, and his left hand had been over his right every time. Not the other way around. Every damn time and mind you, it was more than ten times." Noah added and this got Joshua thinking.
"Oh, my freaking Theo!!" His exclaim was louder than Ian's, and he laughed immediately before he collapsed on the chair beside Noah. "You have no idea how happy that makes me. Thank Theo for being left-handed. It saved his ass today."
"You bet. I was so worried that I hadn't had any water or food for the entire day." Ian, too slumped on his chair and looked at the ceiling. "My heart feels at ease now. I am so happy."
"Yeah. But the man in this video resembles Theo a lot."
"A hell lot." Ian echoed and bit the inside of his cheek thoughtfully. "What do you think is happening here? Who is this man, and why did he kill Charles?"
"That is something only this man, here, can say," Noah mumbled as he placed his left palm on his chin.
"But how are we going find him?"
"Let me see if I can find something." Joshua intervened. "Since your hospital has CCTV in every nook and corner, maybe I can track him. Give me access once I return home. I would need a more secure environment to do my work. If things go wrong, I do not want people to trace me back to you."
"Will do." Ian nodded gratefully and Joshua just smiled in return, for once not ridiculing him for thanking him.
"Whoever the mastermind is..." Noah suddenly started, gaining the two men's attention to him. "Wanted us to doubt my grandpa by using a man who resembled Theo. Or...."
"Or?" Joshua prompted when Noah did not continue.
"Or...there is something else we are overlooking and I hope that is not the case."
Before Joshua and Ian voiced their opinions, a knock at the door stopped them and Ian opened it.
Ivy peeped in and smiled sheepishly when she saw Ian looking back at her. "Sorry I had to interrupt your conversation. I brought food for you guys."
Ian moved aside and Ivy entered inside. "You might not have eaten anything, especially you Ian. Please have something."
"You are a savior, Ivy. I was starving." Ian did not hold back and picked up one of the boxes she had brought. Although the food was from the hospital canteen, it tasted delicious and he did not stop until he had licked the box clean.
